There's a 08 and 07 for sale on gumtree I'm not sure if there a legit add or not
If they red one checks out for under 30k it's a great deal
Hey guys,
Im in the market for an S2K and found one in QLD. Link here
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...k&sort=default
The car is in top notch condition (got it checked out by my mate, who is a mechanic). Now the car has finance on it and I have read up the guideline to buy an encummbed vehicle so I wont be giving him the money directly, but rather 2 cheques one to the bank and one to him for the difference.
Anything else I should look out for?
Also the car has the plate "Koufala", anyone deal with this guy before?
Thanks,
Why oh why are there so few of these in dealerships??
Im looking at a few on carsales that will have me flying interstate and driving back.
Just clearing christmas debt and then i shall be in the market
Ideas, opinions and info about this one?

Yeah im New to the scene. Quality Information just keeping options Open.
The blue 03 S2000 on gumtree with tan interior has finance owing on it and has
fake log books.
hey guys, been looking for an s2k for awhile now.
had a look at this one today
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...ort=LastUpdate
any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
lol find it funny that i've *never* seen it considering he lives within 2km to me...my sisters have though (reason i know where he lives).
to be honest, i like it. the condition from the pictures looks imaculate, the price reflects the kms and the colour (as funny as that may sound).
people will disagree with me, but i think it's fairly priced. if you are able to take more than a few grand off it you're getting a bargain :).
oh and as i said in another thread:
"should be quoted at the top of these forums as a guide to checking out cars.
Step 1 - go see the car
Step 2 - inspect the car, look for anything that looks wrong. you don't need to be a mechanic or panel beater for this, i'm not and inspected 5 s2000's i wasn't happy with.
Step 3 - drive the car, see if anything feels wrong
Step 4 (or step 1 if they are free, i'm not sure if they are any more) - do the vin checks and all that make sure it's not a write-off
Step 5 - ask about it on the forums and take it to a professional to have it looked at."
thanks for the quick reply. Same, I live around the area and have never seen it once.
He does have a daily euro though and did mention he hardly drives it.
I did take a look at the car today. There were a couple of scratches, one on the door and another on the front bumper but nothing major.
The seats are a little worn but I guess that's expected. Did a compression test, all around 225 so seems fine there.
Also took a quick drive, everything seems good.
I do believe it to be a bit overpriced however and that's the only thing holding me back at the moment.
i've got a thing with s2000 seats. i hate them. in every way. mine has done extremely low ks, and over the last 5k km of me using it i have watched the seats deteriorate at a ridiculous pace. if you see an ap1 with perfect seats, they have been retrimmed or replaced.
as far as it being overpriced, that's a fair call. keep in mind though that white s2000's are rare as f*ck. seems like you are going about the purchase the right way, work out your own budget and go from there. personally i love black s2000's, so consider whether it's wise to pay more for white when black/yellow/blue/silver/whatever-colour-you-like looks good too...
oh, and just a bit of trivia. a member on these forums sold his white s2k with 180k kms on it for 21 grand or so (23 from memory but honestly can't remember) in 1 week. the reason it took him a week was because i had him hold it for me before changing my mind. the guy who bought it put it back up straight away for 31 grand lol. don't know if it sold or not, but it's not up any more...
Yeah i remember that white one lol.. was pretty cleanly modded too. I've never seen the car around anymore but maybe cos I'm not out and about as much as before now.
That white one above looks like a decent car but a little overpriced. Keep in mind - i picked up an 03 ap1 (updated bits n pieces) in black with tan interior 68000km on the clock and the only negatives were stone chips and scratches on the front bumper. Had some basic mods on it as well. Seller was asking 29 i got it down to 27 and to this day i still feel like it was a good buy. If you can get that price down a couple grand or so and with the white honda tax in mind... could be decent buy!
A nice black one just popped up on carsales. 91k km with decent additions (bar the kings springs)
EDIT: so aparently i was looking at the wrong s2k. hmmm, i still prefer the white one you went to see.
if you are still looking at the white one you went to see, have a look at this:
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...k&sort=default
the one you are looking at is more valuable than this one, and I would be willing to bet in better condition. and this one isn't nego on price at all.
DISCLAIMER - i apologize to any seller of any s2000 that i offend, my words are purely opinions and *not* fact.
^ Genuine front lip too.
Front bumper has been resprayed at some point.
Edit: Double Rant
Just put the deposit on the white s2k!!! After searching for so long im so happy ones finally mine.
Picked up for 26.5.. Kinda pricey but I was willing to pay the white Honda tax and for an unmolested one.
It does need new tyres to get rwc done. Can anyone recommend some cheapish tyres that will last for a while until
I get new rims? He just has stock rims on
26.5 not bad imho for the most sought after colour combo + low km and straight.
Does anyone know history on this car? He says somethi g locks up or makes noises in diff when turning corners. Wt?
http://carsales.mobi/cars/details/?R=14060539
Aaronm which one did u pick up? 26.5k isn't bad at all depending on car!
EDIT: think I know which one. From melb yeh? Looks good man v clean from pics! Congrats ;)
Well with sellers like that, i usually ask them to drive around instead and hear for common problems of the s2k, And you can feel what the drivers is feeling as well soo any shudder or something wrong you be able to spot them too. If they deny that too ill stay away from the car. I watched the previous owner of my car let 3 different people test the car within 1hour and all of us rushed to the bank but luckily i had my ways
yeh that works. thing is i wouldn't mind allowing a test drive, but you would have to show me money. i'm not asking for a deposit (which is what a lot of people do), i'm just asking for evidence that after you are 100% happy with my car, you will buy it. end of the day, if i had it up for 25, 30, 35, 40 whatever, you either have the money or you don't.
for the record, i went to see 5 cars in a week, and even when OFFERED to drive them, i declined, as i only wanted to test drive if i was 100% happy with everything else, and the only thing stopping me from purchase was to test the car myself. only 1 matched that criteria, so i returned to see it rather than testing it first time. felt bad though because i had it looked at and it wasn't what i thought so i didn't buy it.
Well i was in different budget and took every chance to test drive one. I had my friends one as a benchmark and just tested if the owner allowed. I wasnt allowed to be picky and the only criteria i had is straight chasis and fine engine i was lucky to find one that drove like my friends one with 80k kms despite having almost double km
what do u guy think of this one "GPW S2K " ? just pop out
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...ort=LastUpdate
low k at a decent price
Hard to tell from pics. Take a look at it. If all checks out would defs be a decent buy at that price (or lower)
Its mostly the case with buyers and sellers whereby people want the best price on either side of the fench.Nothing like be sure than be sorry if the vehicles not properly check out and end up with the lemons as i personally experience with a nissan 260z(2seater) during my earlier years.
Happy hunting guys. cheers tay
What about the respray? How did it come about with that?
so..i've seen this on carsales for abit http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d...ck&sort=~Price
s2000 side fender badge is in the complete wrong place - means it's been replaced at some time (possibly due to a hit?)
That's all i can tell from a 30second look while at work
front badge is black, and like black8thgen said, the side fender badges are in the wrong place as well, colour looks a bit off, alignment doesnt look hundred percent where the bumper meets the fenders and bonnet,, guaranteed has had some sort of playing around with at the front, whether it be badges ripped off for looks and put back on or an actual accident..
and i love how they say 'no accident history', just cos it's not on paper.
just know that when something seems too cheap to be real. it is too cheap to be real.. but hey, on the other side, if it's been repaired good, there's no damage behind the guards and bumper and no structural damage existant, good deal. but i dont want a car knowing it's been played with, plus lowered and no mention of driveshafts been replaced, guaranteed the cv joints are on their way as well.
lol i love the name of the seller
Its damn cheap and if its repaired well and you're on a tight budget than its a good buy.
Any neglect and s2000's appear to not go hand in hand as far as I know.
^ I agree with the above however,
As far as i can tell, a decent s2000 will go for around 21. When i say decent, i mean there's a good chance you are getting a fairly good condition car - at 21, it's certainly no guarantee.
Now hypothetically, if i bought that car for 16, the 5k price difference would allow me to make certain parts completely bulletproof. as long as the engine was fine, i'm pretty sure i would be covered to make other known expensive parts unbreakable - which i would do straight away regardless of whether they were fine or not.
This is definately not the path i took lol, but something i considered.
I do believe that at 16k, you're going to need a pretty large buffer to cover you for any problems that may arise.
ahaha, thanks guise!
I'd suggest it is more to do with the nut that holds the wheel.
Has anyone looked at the IT33ZE .. The silver one with chrome rim and changed headlight on Carsales
yeah i have
dont bother, trust me lol
It's a shit one ?
Chromies should say enough about how its been treated :-0
But there's a Apexi vtec inside ..
guards are slightly damaged
paint isnt in the best condition
at the time I THINK i noticed a bit of a gap in some door panels - not 100% sure though but it was just a bad feeling I had at the time
Interior looked in okay condition.
Car is really low though and its on springs i believe. and on chromies, which means... suspension is probably fuarked
My mate is going to buy it tonight -_-"
Inb4 buyers remorse
oh no.. Well.. I could be wrong on everything I said.. who knows... but hopefully for your mate I am..
also.. the car has been up for ages was on gumtree fair while ago when i went to look at it
He bought it already .. All the best on him la ..
I bought mine awhile ago from blacktown paulicoautos
Thats the path that i went with :D
You can apply the theory that on a 30k s2k as well, could look good and seem well but problems will arise it is a 5~12years old car after all nothing is for certain. Buying a second hand car it self is a big gamble from the start.
what would the costs be to import one now days? just curious
^lol...
yeah iv been kinda just randomly looking in nz every now and then but most iv seen has some pretty riced up kits on them but i guess im just exploring other options and just waiting it out and see whats gonna come around nothing wrong with just window shopping here and there right guys?
Dw, the others were laughing cause you might not know about SEVS and why you can't simply import into Australia...
Anyone went to inspect this one ??
Very interested..
How is it??
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/five-...000/1012986457
price is a bit high for the ks?
front bumper has been respsrayed too
if you're gonna spend up near 28k theres heaps better ones on carsales!
What do you guys think of this one ?
http://bit.ly/X5MN6O
yeah that one looks like an abortion
Dear god what the hell...
hard to tell what model of car it is
LOL! all i know is it has been for sale for a very long time, i remember checking it out on rta. its an 04 model not 05. it looks ugly. an AP2 at that price wouldn't be for sale for sooo long if it was neat. He'd have an alot better chance selling if he restored it to stock
BM37EE
2004 SILVER HON S2000 SEDAN
VIN/Chassis: ********0274
that car been up for at least a year. The fact it hasnt sold yet is probably enough of an indication that u shud stay away!
could be even be a private repair and not recorded on REVs.
