Hi, G_Vtec, long time no see here, i have been search for it from K&N site, and found this b4, as it shown is for US ver civic Si, so it fits our ver civic perfectly as well? u did? thx
has anyone put in the K&N? is the intake sound much louder?
G_Vtec did, he can tell u what its result and he driving Spt one which same as u, mate
i got the replacement filter because i want to keep the stock airbox and it fits perfectly. i removed the resonator and routed a 3inch flex hose to the front of the car for cooler air and the car runs alot better.
A mate of mine got the typhoon kit and the only drama was to trim the hose to fit the throttle body but otherwise, the installation only took us about 1hr or so.
current waiting for the progress springs to arrive from the states (12 weeks ground shipping). been hearing good reviews about them and cant wait to put them on the civic.
cheers
i got mine from an online supplier based in the US. Had it in the car for about 3 months already and loving it. Car feels and response alot better to the throttle and the suction noise is slightly louder. good value and i would recommend it over the typhoon kit if you like your engine bay looking stockish.
cheers
Just a quick Update on mine.
Over the holiday period i had the following audio installed in my Civic:
6.5" Splits
4 Channel Amp
12" Sub
High, low and mid range has improved greatly. Very happy with the results.

I doubt I'll get the typhoon kit- personally don't see this car as a performance and am planning to change once I graduate from uni. Might as well save my money for now. Out of interest, how much is it costing in Asia (to the dude who went to HK)?
Btw, to G_Vtec, is your filter the same as the one I have? http://picasaweb.google.com/jace.88/...22682385669778

My arms are so sore now...lol. The car looks even nicer in real life
whow the kit looks really nice. you say its easy to install? how easy?
hey, if u getting the genuine one, they will come with the instruction which step by step even in Japanese, but the pic is easy to understand how to do it. and the item are perfect fit with civic, coz they are genuine, haha
congratz.. looking good dude.. drolling for genuine one.. LOL..
thx, i am love to see the result now, i need to lowed it asap, hoho
haha, thx for ur comment, ya, i will drop it a lil bit, otherwise, accroding my skill, i can't go anywhere later, haha
Haha yeh the rear wing really does balance it out. Looks hot! Also like the skirts.
Sigh.. i'm too pov to afford the mugen kit- would rather wait until more options become available.
On a sidenote, finally installed K&N filter. Quite nice... very subtle improvement but it's definitely noticable.
It's a mugen replica grille (or "mugen styling" as someone correctly pointed out!)... basically the silver one I had before wasn't that good quality (the mesh wasn't that great, and the fit wasn't perfect, and of course the paint was silver...). I bought this black one when I was on a trip to Singapore. But yeh, this new grille, is really really top notch quality and cost under $100aud after negotiation since it was cash&carry with no paintjob. It fits perfect and came with the mesh unattached with screw-in kit (ie. screws + washers) to fit it yourself- if you look at my google picasaweb site you'll see the parts as they appeared when i bought it. The fitment inside the engine bay is also alot better than the silver one because it uses the original Honda "push-button" style screws rather than .. the weird long thing the other cheap (grey) replica uses. Anyway I'll take a photo next time if I remember. From afar, you can't notice the different shades of black and it really does look like "one" with the car; but I'm still considering a thin layer of paint just to help it blend in a bit better.
One thing I've realised- if you're buying replica gear.. make sure you check it out in person. When you're at the shop, they can't **** you around since you inspect before you buy. I touched various qualities of Mugen replica bodykits as well (range from $500aud upto $1500aud), and then there are the genuine kits as well... the $1500aud one is about the same quality as the genuine kit ($3000+aud with wing, visors and grille); except it comes in this ugly colour... (totally unpainted).
ANyway, if you look on my site http://picasaweb.google.com/jace.88, you'll see that in some pics I have a silver colour grille. If you have the silver Civic, it'll be a perfect colour fit, but it won't fit perfectly with the engine bay so you'll need to use double sided tape to keep it in firm. That one was bought online for about $70aud... can't remember exact price.
very nice joy, looks much better in person
Totally agree with u, Jace. I got all the genuine Mugen body kit expect the front grille, bought it online from SG as well. Well, its quality same as ur silver one i believe, it can't fit engine bay's screws perfectly, so may i will get genuine grille later on. and then my car will look much better with all mugen gear.
I've uploaded pics of the new replica grille and how well it fits. My father and I came to the conclusion the reason why the cheap replica one didn't fit was because the mesh had already been fitted and was very very poorly cut. As a result, the mesh was "bending" the plastic, hence causing it to not fit.
Lesson to be learnt: If you're cutting the mesh for the grille- DO NOT USE THE ORIGINAL CRAPPY MESH AS A TEMPLATE
Here are some pics;

Sorry for not so great quality; was using a camera phone inside the carpark. Also note, it's still the original dull black it came in- I haven't spray painted it to colour match the rest of my car. But from afar, it looks stock and the lines are quite flowing with the bonnet, so it doesn't look out of place :)
ps. Even though Mugen is great quality, I refuse to believe that the front grille is worth $500+ AUD. But then I also am shocked to find that the cheap grille (my first silver one) probably isn't even worth $50. As a tip dyljoy, you can try taking off the mesh, buying proper mesh and cutting it again, and then also using the 3M double sided foam tape to help hold it in firmly; however, this all depends how good quality the plastic used to make the grille is... my second (black) grille was considerably more durable/stronger than the first one despite both claiming to be made from ABS Plastic.
IMO, for copy one.. it just the matter of the craftsmanship and quality of the "ingredients".. and.. you get what you pay.. that is almost always true..
your one looking good jace..
how big is the mugen wing? is it similar to an Evo/STI wing? it looks kinda big in the pics but i haven't seen it in real life so i dunno. :p
Btw oops, I just realised my grammar/punctuation made it ambiguous.
1. Cut mesh bigger than the template/original crappy mesh; and then trim to fit the screwholes or cable tie slits (depending on which replica grille you have)
2. Use either screws/washers or cable ties (again depending on which replica grille you have) to attach the mesh and THEN trim the mesh to fit.
3. After using the screws or 'pop-in' screws (again depending on which replica grille you have) to fit the grille to the front; make sure it fits snug.
4. THEN take it out, and use 3 or 5 strips of double-sided 3M foam sticky tape along the bottom part of the grille (ie. the part which sits on top of the bumper) and then it'll hold it in really firmly.
Some of the replica grilles (in my case, the crappy silver one) have a 4th screw/hole for you to use to affix the grille which might make Step 4 not necessary since it'll be stronger; but I personally never used it since I didn't like the silver grille enough to try to get it to fit. The double sided tape is much better.
Hope this helps :)
PS. When I saw the Mugen wing in person.. it's huge. I'm guessing it's the same size as the Evo or STi ones but can't really make that much of a comparison. On a sidenote, in Malaysia I saw a replica one and it was around RM350 from memory; or about $120aud.
Btw on a sidenote, when I say "huge".. i mean, from a practicality point of view in terms of fitting it into my carry on luggage when flying back from Malaysia to Sydney.
[QUOTE=JaCe;1027488]Btw on a sidenote, when I say "huge".. i mean, from a practicality point of view in terms of fitting it into my carry on luggage when flying back from Malaysia to Sydney.[/QUOT
