Just wondering if anyone has gone from heavy wheels (e.g 17 or 18s) to smaller wheels and resulted in a massive difference?
I've got some pretty heavy ass 17's on my EG Si atm and only getting around 400kms. Been reading some of you get 600+ which is crazy!
Just to rephrase; when I say massive difference I mean like 150-200kms.
Is that possible? By just changing to smaller wheels
400 sounds reasonable, seeing as them si's only got 30L tanks (dont quote me but), im running 15" wheels on stockies and my car is a sedan EG
ive been only getting 310km's, but nowerdays after a month of using bp ultimate, its approaching the 450km mark. i am to believe im driving the same way i always have just getting more efficient some how. pay about 45bucks a week on petrol. either that, or im just getting less footing
i think when the guys get 600+, they know what their doing. MAYBE they have really really light feet on the gas.
i have 17s on my car im getting about 300-330 the old man manages to get 400ish in my car lol all about driving style i guess
i have a d16y8 with 17"s. with normal petrol i get about 350-380km, but last time i filled up i used 95 octane and got 420kms!
afaik all your tanks are 45L
and 'a tank' is a pretty meaningless figure since you never suck it dry and never fill it to the same capacity
all you guys getting under 400k's per tank on relatively stock motors probably have heavy feet
that said my lightly modded b18c7 gets about 10l/100km on bp ultimate tuned on crome
Id be concerned if you got below 500km to a tank on the y8, I use vpower, drive spiritedly often and clear that mark with ease
had 17's and got the same k's, 15's didnt make a huge difference to fuel ecconomy and the tyres funnily enough are the same price for the same brands :( lol
I'd be getting that looked at
redbook says the tanks are 45L, i only assumed 30L cuz thats how much i only fill up each week and i get about 350km's out of it. i dont like to ever let it go over 400km but now im leaning more n more closer to 400km's,
maybe all he needs is a good service, MAYBE, haha
So i get about 380-400km out of a tank.
That's with a d16a turbo driving from livo > chatswood for work and back- through sydneys peak.
I found out BP fairfield was selling Wynns Hi-octane boost for $10 a bottle. (also fuel treatment, injector cleaners etc)
So i gave my EG a full tank with octane boost- i get more KMs!! like 460kms and im sure i wasn't granny driving because i was testing if the octane boost gave any performance increase many times in traffic.
So i think $10 is worth it for the extra kms and performance increase... lol
What do you guys think? Bad to keep running octane boost? - i went and bought another 5bottles just yesterday.
better off spending your money on a tank of fuel imo.
everytime i go to kmart they got none left i reckon mechanics but them all than go to there shop sell them for double lol
