While Honda makes excellent cars, the charge for metallic paint is a cheap grab for your cash and I have also found it very difficult to knock any more than $2,000 off the RRP for the Euro here in Perth WA (despite having bought Honda's off the same dealership since 1989)

Exchange rates have more or less stabilised. Whilst not at pre-GFC levels, they are as good as they were and at levels at which a prudent car importer might have done their calcs at when making a price-point decision in May 2008, to launch a new car on the market.Quote:

i've succumbed to the alluring looks and feel of the CU2 and I am looking to purchase a std model in Manual though i'm looking to finance from dealer. Been researching the forums for info prior to purchase and came across this thread which I find very interesting. I've worked as a salesperson for about 5 years and I know how the game is played (well with electronical equipment anyway). Whether its the same for selling cars i'm not sure. The one thing i know from selling electronical equipment is that when a customer wishes to purchase something on finance I am unable to give "big" discounts as the retailer gets hit with finance charges which obviously is dependant on the terms of the finance but ranges anywhere from 9.34% - 15.84%. Just wondering whether anyone bought their CU2 through finance and whether you were still able to bargain a price?
On a second note i'm still unsure as to when i should purchase the car. I was looking at purchasing a Euro back in late '07 (around the Sept-Nov period) and from memory there were heaps of deals going on with free CTP, stamp duty and taxes and what not and i was offered $30k flat for a std euro. Was it just a fluke at that time or do you think that the "specials" will be around again at the same time this year? 'Cause i'm in no real rush to buy the car seeing as my EK is still doing me fine. So if i can save a few thousand by waiting a few months i will. Having said that though just the thought of driving a brandspanking new CU2 has got me hot on the heels to start shopping around already.

end of financial year sales will be coming around soon, that is when you normally get the bast deals.....free CTP, 5 year warranty etc. If you have a good credit rating you can really bargain on interest rates at the moment. That is when I would but if I was in the market now.Quote:

Oh and for the record, those winging about the $300 metallic paint...by volume most car manufactures get charged $20 per tyre...as a point of comparison...so imagine how much there is in most of the car...and that metallic paint would cost about an extra $0.50 than standard per car...nice profit...
A really nice little earner per car for metallic paint! When I buy Honda anyways I always make it a point that metallic paint gets thrown in "free-of-charge" and then start my negotiations from there!Quote:

Hi All,
Well I did it today. After many weeks of carshopping and research i bought myself the CU2 :D Ended up costing $34,800 with the following included:
- On roads
- Mats
- Tints
- Towbar
- Full tank of fuel
- Street directory
- and to make the deal even sweeter the salesperson chucked in a bottle of wine haha.
I got a brand new manual CU2 in Volcano grey. I probably could've hit them up for more of a discount but i walked out of the house this morning promising i wouldn't spend more than $35,000 on the car including all the accessories that i want. Very happy indeed. And now the painful part.... the waiting game :S 11 days and counting till my car arrives...
