3.5-4k
3k is good point,i don't like to do it 4k in normal days, cos my exhaust makes too much noise when it is around it ,sounds like i'm racing someone
happy that i found this thread.
got a question here guys, how long is 1st gear lasts for ur car? wot i mean how long is the torque range. like do u have to change pretty much straight away when the car is start moving? For e.g when make a turn from a start point, do u change into 2nd after the turn is done or during the turn?
When i drive mine, i felt like isnt very long at all, i pretty much have to change at 3 to 3.5, other wise the car will be sluggish. also i have to be extra gentle on the gas during a *from the start turn* otherwise jz revs too high.
Yes i am still a newbee.
many thanz
:)
its really depends how you use your throttle i.e 20%, 50%, 100%, you can shift at 2.5-4 rpm and use alot of fuel.
Doing 60 km/hr in 5th is crazy, your just using more fuel when you need to accelerate.
For a type R, 4-4.5k is the best IMO
yeah so im always in 5th @ 60kms @15, 20% throttle, is this good or not?
This thread seems so pointless to me, every driving situation requires a different amount of gas, revs, gear
POINTLESS n00b5
8K rpm
vtec home!
2.8-3.5k sometimes might just redline 2nd when bored :)
This thread doesn't seem to make any sense?!?!
I can say I change gear @ 2.5-3K all day, but I get there on WOT on each gear...
Surely thats less fuel efficient then spending the day changing @ 4k but only operating on 15-20% throttle...
I think we should all attempt to provide at least an average estimation of percentage of WOT we drive in when changing gears and traffic conditions...
There just seems to be too many factors to take into account!!
i go half throttle and shift before 5000rpm every single gear.
it does matter what RPM you shift at but it really depends on your throttle position. The throttle tells you how much petrol your throwing into the engine so if you use less throttle you use less petrol..... simple.... yeah??
shifting points are relative to throttle... depending on how much lead is in your foot you can change shift anywhere from 2k-redline.
But for daily driving with throttle of 20-40% a good shift point would be from 2.5-4k rpm.
Basically you shift when after you reach maximum power output for that amount of throttle... when acceleration starts to drop.
Assuming your using a constant throttle amount.
