lol pedders, here is my story
when my first time came to australia in 1993, i still in year 12 High School, my dad bought me a car, and i was thinking want to lower my car (it was mitsubishi lancer)
i went around2 look at yellow pages, visit some of mechanic shop that can do lowering, actually NONE of them want to do this job, some of them didnt even know what the fak i was talking about
So that time i ended up stop at pedders shop, they said that they can do it. i was so happy, and i wait while they were doing it
i saw that they chopped my spring without taking the wheel off with grinder LOL
the worse is that they didnt chop the spring evenly, prolly like 1cm drop on the left, 2 cm drop on the right, different height at the back too LOL
and what piss me off is that when i looked at the car (it looked the same height as before but worse) and they said i should wait couple days and your car will lower soon.
faking pedders,so everytime i saw pedders i never even want to step my foot on their shop.
lucky, i got friend just lower their car very nicely and low at that time
so thats the only shop call "K-mac", i was so happy. up until now i still visit them they know what i always want, they make custom spring while you wait. King spring i guess better made, but kmac more experience with lowering, i still their customer since 1993.
lol thats dodgy hahah!!!
yeah the cars ok AS LONG as i dont have passengers and dont turn on roundabouts rofl.
tyres are 205/40/17 thats what it says on the tyre.
Ben is teaching me to put on bumpstops on sunday, should be good :), after that i can buy myself some quality ultra****ing stiff springs and some sway bars and fit em.
ahh kz
cos i got 205/50r15s on mine, fits perfect, i dont know whatll happen if i lower mine though... hrmmm
yeah get sways, they make a really nice handling diff, but you should already have a front one anyway, but make sure if you get a thicker rear sway to buy asr reinforcement brace aswell for your subframe.
please
can u check exactly wat kind of springs u have on now
and find out exactly how much u have lowered
because with 40offset on 17x7 with kings lows on koni yellows with the correct tyre profile, shood not scrub
im guessing, u have something equivalent to kings super lows, i think u have lowered at least 2.5 to 3 inches
if it was just lows, 1.5inches, then i HIGHLY dought ther will be scrubbing
PEDDERS, i called my mechanic today
Lowered to legal limit of 1.5 inches, theres about 1 finger space gap wen i park the car and no one is in it.
Im not sure if they did something dodgy and lowered it more than that. How can i possibly tell? All i can think of is that the pedders are sh!t LOL....
i think im just gona assume with evry1 else that its ur bumpstops
too much shock travel
u shoodnt need stiffer springs
just try putting in bumpstops, then tell us how it feels
yeah, hope so hope so!!! if it is the case, im gonna blast my mechanic, who happens to be a 'FINALIST' in some mechanics competition - wat a rip!!! lol
just an update
van came over for a chat and DIY fun today. Gosh it was a muck up of a job
suspension was installed , without bumpstops.
Missing washers
2 main washers in the shock were swapped , leading to premature shock failure
the front suspension forks were installed back to front (?!?)
Spring perch seating washer used to hold the fork inplace
These guys for such a big "finalist" are shocking.
Oh and he is getting smaller wheels :)
holy moly thats pretty bad...
soemtimes it pays to do it yourself with several guides off the net or with mates.
nice.
want an update when he gets 15"s. lolz so i kno whats a cheap way to lower my car... hehehe
yes, looking on FS for 15 inch rims!!! ^__^
then after all thats done id say: buy used coilovers off someone get used 15 inch rims OEM honda, get everything second hand - cheaper, get front/rear sways. Get Ben to install it - he's chuck norris, he does everything.
AND dont trust any dodgy "**** ******* *****" mechanics.
The Asterisks * are for your own imagination.
after the 15 inch rims, im gonna have a chat with my so called 'trusty' mechanic hehe.
