yes true that... dun need any extra weight in my Vti... got the Vti cos its the lighter of the two already....
I choose vti coz it's the lightest in my pocket :D.. anyway.. you can get aftermarket sunroof around $1500, but it won't be like the one in civic sport
What Jr said. For the price of a sunroof, the Vti-L would only be a few grand short of the Sport. The Vti is much cheaper and even though a sunroof would push it close to Vti-L money, there are only minor differences.Quote:

we only have a black VTi-L auto left and a purple Sport auto that has the full body kit, led lighting, rev sensors, mats, tint, scuff plates, bass works stereo on the showroom floor! looks mad!
hey guys i just got my VTI manual. just wondering wot does the Bass system upgrade give u?
The Mazda 3 update is coming out in August. Think we could use that to bargain against a Civic?
Bob san, go search the forum - the kits already been discussed. recently too!Quote:

first impressions: the leather seats are a lot more slippery than i expected, slightly aggressive cornering can have people moving around in the car a fair bit (but not enough to disturb them.) 2 little niggles with build quality: the boot lid creaks a bit when opening/closing, and the driver's door needs a bit more force to close properly than the others. i'll try to have both of these fixed in my first service.
but it's just so awesome a car to drive i can easily forgive these things. the steering is quite quick but once you get used to it it's really good because you don't have to take your hands off the 9- and 3-o'clock positions even when turning tight corners :) the engine sounds sweet.
if i were to modify the car at all, i would put better speakers in - the stock ones aren't as good as i'd like, but then again i'm used to listening to music through sennheiser in-ear monitors.
i found out a bit of info about the waiting lists - my dealer (hornsby honda in sydney nsw) had heard nothing of people being told to wait until oct/nov, he instead said that there'd only be a 3-4 month wait for a civic, with the wait for the sport model maybe a bit longer. at that dealership, they've only been allocated 7 civic sports for the next 3 months! he said it was a restriction from higher up to keep the sport's exclusivity and retain the value a bit more.
I agree with almost all of the above post. Are you driving the automatic or the manual out of curiosity?
I had a good comparison between the Accord Euro and the Civic Sport at the recent motor show. The build quality on the Euro "is" slightly better - little things like less flimsy door seals, better quality carpet, full size alloy as opposed to that horrible steel thing in the Civic and the Euro dash / plastic feels more solid when you hammer on it hard. Plus I love the electric seats on the Euro.
Mind you, I'm waiting on a delivery of a Honda Civic Sports in July....... *sighs*
The Speakers do suck, especially when you do one better and you're used to driving with an iPod and Etymotic Canalphones ;)
I got my Civic Sports with tinting, mats, rear-sensors in silver moss (automatic) for just over $36000 including ORC/duties. Will be modding it with a body kit. Does anybody know how much comprehensive insurance will cost?
Though calling it a better drive than the Euro is pushing it just a little too far :P The reason I got the Civic over the Euro was simple fuel economy. The Euro guzzles in city traffic and I was happy enough with the Civic drive not to want to pay the extra couple of thou for the Euro Lux.
Ordered my Civic Sport auto today!!! Yay!!! $35995.00 driveaway with free mats, reverse sensors, and tinted windows! Got a black one! :D Unfortunately, the ETA is July-Aug... :(
Test drove it in "touge-like" backstreets of Donny - very torquey! (even in steep uphills sections of my "track").
Love the handling - spirited driving could not make the car deviate from its line when cornering!
The paddle shift was a treat, although as expected, there is a noticeble delay between pressing the paddle and the actual gear shift - bad when up shifting as you may be deceived into upshifting 2 gears instead of 1! Aside from that, the gear shifting was smooth as!
Power delivery was also fantastic, power on demand proves to be useful not only in sprinting but also powering out of corners!
Very impressed overall! So can't wait till its' delivered!!!
cheers
Drive away VTI auto 25.5k, Sport auto 34.5k. Pay more and be pwned dawgs.
The Sport is ill but the 'leather seats' are more rubber than leather. Wud cop the sport of not for tat.
I ordered my vti last month, and the dealer called on friday telling me it will be in by end of this week, pretty fast I reckon, din't wait too long.
Btw, wat size are the speakers, I might get them replace as soon as my car arrives.
6x9 for all 4?
I'm paying $1800 for comprehensive with agreed value of $32000 on the Sport model with Just Cars. A bit pricey but thats expected as i'm a p plater and have only had my licence for a year.Quote:

Yeh I'm suprised too hear all this news about limited supply. I didn't think honda would care. Good news for ppl who already have one I guess. Can feel more *bling* for abit longer :D .
tanalasta:
i'm driving the automatic. my previous car was a manual and i'm quite fine with stick-shifting, but after a hard day's work in peak hour traffic, a manual isn't the first thing on my mind :) although from what i hear the honda gearboxes are quite nice.
july... fairly long wait, but it's to be expected with demand this high. if the car's impression on me so far is anything to go by, it's definitely well worth the wait!
comprehensive insurance for me (23/m, clean history) is $966 with AAMI. some insurers wanted ridiculous premiums though, NRMA wanted like $1700.. and another insurer didn't even offer :(
i drove both the civic and the euro today, and realised that yes the accord handles a bit better :) there's less body roll and 'wallowing about'... although you wouldn't really complain about either car hehe. i maintain though that the civic is easier to bring to a stop gently and it absorbs potholes better - all of which can be put down to a softer suspension setup.
the euro is a bit of a fuel economy bastard, filled it up today after driving a tank in what was relatively light peak hour traffic without the AC running, and it only managed 10.5L/100km. With the AC on, it did 11.0L/100km - no need to turn it off then really.
Geezmoz:
i don't think the fronts are 6x9, they're round and probably around 6-6.5". i don't have the urge to take apart my doors just yet to find out though :)
colour?
Good to hear you got your car.
WD40 sounds like a good idea... i'll wait to see if it goes away though. it has been getting quieter, oddly enough!Quote:

It'll be interesting to see what the fuel economy of the Civic is on the same route that you take with the Euro.Quote:

i'm very interested in the fuel economy too - however the picture doesn't look too good so far. there are around 20 little squares in the fuel gauge, 5 of them have disappeared after having covered about 100km. then again most of it was driven with the AC on, and the car is still loosening up, so too early to tell :)Quote:

Yeh Strangely enough the first couple of tanks don't seem economical. But after that you'll get heaps more k's out of it..........for normal driving you should be expect around 500km/tank I think..... I don't even keep track anymore.
I wonder what their going to give as freebies in the next release of this car in australia.
no one seems to have purchased the purple colour?
heheheh...........that'll stand out when someone buys that one.
i got the purple colour - it's really awesome. at night it looks black with a purple tinge, and during the day it's got a nice multi-colour-speck metallic look to it (which might not be to some people's tastes hehe)Quote:

Another vote for the Silver Moss. I had originally wanted black but the wait for it was going to be an entire month longer (and I thought 3 months+ was long enough).
The blue-beige leather looks good and only comes in the two silvery colours. Silver Moss is proving very popular. And as for the fact nobody has gotton a sport in that colour, my dealer says that's probably the most popular behind black!
And did I mention I also went for the Silver Sports Moss? I better have it in July!!!
well theirs two silver moss sports now
i originally asked for the silver moss and decided that plain silver was more to my liking...
saw a VTI on the road with sunroof.. wonder if they are Honda original or fitted at some local workshops.. if they are honda original, this means, Honda australia will have to indent from Thailand, since this wasn't even listed as an option in the brochures.?Quote:

oh ok ........
I'm stll waiting for my civic, anyone who ordered on April, got it yet? please let me know.. Thanks
Your dealer should have an ETA as to when your Civic will arrive. Depending on the colour and model, you should be looking at either end of June or end of July.
Well, dealer told me it's gonna take 4 - 6 weeks when i ordered it. now it's over 6 weeks. I cant wait any longer, i really need to use a car, do you think it is possible to get replacement car?
the general consensus seems to be no... you won't get a replacement car. i was told 4 weeks when i ordered mine early march, and i ended up having to wait 8 weeks - just depends when the dealer can get a hold of it.Quote:

Does this mean for $1700... I can add a sunroof to my Civic? If anyone gets it done, pls tell us how good it looks, whether it fits in and so on... I'm seriously considering this.Quote:

pretty good price yeh, lots of people are still not getting any discount so given you paid about 500 less than me (equiv.) it's not the worst you could do :)Quote:

Not a bad price. Since they give free tinting, Where did u ordered it? how long your frend have to wait? Did the dealer tell you the estimated date?Quote:

Got my last week.... Vti... was delayed for 3 weeks, I ordered it in 1st week of march... wat I heard from the dealer was anyone who ordered it in May will have to wait till Aug. Its selling like hot cakes...
I'm thinking of canceling my order and go for those dealer who actually got the car in stock.
anyone got any idea how to cancel? Is there any chance that I can get back my deposit? Since the dealer has lied to me about the delivery date when i ordered it.
There's a clause in the contract somewhere about you being able to cancel it if the car hasn't been delivered in 3 months. Otherwise, it's all at the dealer's discretion. It's basically your word against his but your name on the dotted line.
Let me know how you go because I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Except I'd go from a Civic that's not in stock to the Honda Euro Luxury. Anyone in Perth know of a dealer that would let you swap cars without penalty?
i'm not sure about the 3 month thing (haven't looked for it) but the one thing that my dealer pointed out to me was a paragraph saying that if i cancel the order, i have to pay 5% of the total purchase price minus any deposit i may have already paid - so for me that would have been $1825 - a very high price to pay just to get the car possibly sooner at another place.
i'm not sure if the contract i got from my dealer was dealer-specific, but it was a paragraph in red text (as opposed to black text) to make it stand out - you might want to look for it.
I think you might be able to swap car if you get it from the same dealer. My dealer allow me to swap car, but I don't have enough money to change to euro. So i guess I will just stick to my order. 5% is too much, not worth it, since I already waited nearly 2 months for my car.Quote:

The standard MTA contract allows you to rescind your contract if the car is delayed more than 30 days beyond the estimated delivery date. Which means if you chose to do this they must give you your deposit back immediately. Under this contract, you can also cancel the contract at any time, in which case the dealer gets to keep any deposit.
But beware, some dealers try scam customers by getting them to sign non-industry-standard contracts that exclude all the clauses that are in the standard contract to protect the buyer (Eg estimate delivery dates, ability to rescind contracts, etc) and even add in other clauses like penalties and additional fees for buyers under some circumstances.
So the moral of the story is before you go to rescind your contract read the fine print (or get a lawyer mate to do this for you) and remember small font is no less important than big red font and vice versa. And if you haven’t signed a contract yet, don’t be bullied into signing the dealer’s “standard” contract, insist on the industry body’s standard contract (eg the MTA contract) which includes all the standard buyers’ protections.
Btw, can I add the parking sensor after my car arrive? I don't wanna call them now as I'm afraid that might delay my order even longer. Anyone got any idea?
All your accessories are in Australia already, so the only delay you'll experience is fitting your sensors.Quote:

And you can always go for an aftermarket parking sensor set that shouldn't cost more than $400.
Mind you, I got the Honda ones thrown in for free as part of the bargaining :P It's not that great a deal considering that I hardly got any discount at all on the new car and had to haggle heaps for accessories.
But my dealer gave me the price list that they had, he said he won't earn a single cent from me. lol. the parking sensor will cost around $320.
EK boi, how much did u get your parking sensor installed?
about $270.00 installed if I remember correctly. But I had hammered the sales for about 6hrs on a good Saturday!Quote:

SOrry for false information, it actually cost more than $400 for the original honda parking sensor.
to a limit its all about quality... i know i wouldnt trust a $50 reverse sensor when the potential damage could be a new paint job on my rear bumper or even worse.. a new bumper!Quote:
