Apparently so its a light weight version of the current type r coming out called Type-R R i'm guessing. Also a Jazz type R L.O.L factor in full effect. But don't quote me on this, its something that i found on the UK civic type r forums.

You will need to register to view their forums though. Good if you want to know what the consumers think of the car over there.
apparently the 4dr Ctr is still in production through test and stuff
Here you go....

Honda has announced a prototype Honda Civic Type R based on the 4-door sedan model that will be used as the official car (red flag car) for the Japanese Formula 1 grand prix.
The prototype is expected to finish development and be released in Spring 2007, in the Japanese market. The Honda Civic Type R sedan will have a specially tuned sport suspension and will feature the legendary K20 i-VTEC high-revving engine, over 220PS
Wow it looks really nice if you order black bumpers with the car.
Check it.

Mike buy the new CTR so I can drive it lol
Haha, my eyes are playing tricks with me.
i want the 4dr ctR if released in AUST.... its definately time to withdraw some cash out of the equity!! :P
definately on top of my priority list ...second comes the missus :p
haha
Does anyone know which Civic Type-R is better between the hatch and the sedan or are they exactly the same other than their body shape?
jdm > euro
eww look ugly frm the bak.. LOL! look like one of the daewoo car??? o.O
i reckon civic coupe is d way to go xD
edit-image not loading for some reason
er... reason for posting the "we seen it all" pics?
civic type-r hatch in oz will cost around 40k up.
so if you have 40k, what type of car do you want ?
1.luxury/roomy = accord euro/aurion or c-class/3series(used)
2.power = mazda 3mps(190kw)/WRX or monaro/holden HSV(used)
3.sports=integra type-s or s2000/1991 nsx(if u lucky)
4.hatch with brand name=alfa 147 TI(top of the range)
now, tell me honda type-r hatch, where should i put ?
may be this :
5.hatch with Honda brand:type-r
;)
Ninja'd from the UK forums:
This is the sedan version oh i wouldn't mind one of these.
New CTR PIcs (new pics)

Mugen CTR! Means as fcuk!
http://www.nihoncar.com/en/news-468-...+By+Mugen.html
If I have a family, Euro or Aurion. I'd rather get an older previous gen 5-series rather than a used 3-series.
3MPS or a WRX. No used HSVs for me. Even seeing a new one with dealer plates being fanged and burning heaps of coolant yesterday is scary enough.
S2000. A 1991 NSX will need more than just 40k. Factor in another 10k to replace the timing belt, water pump and valve clearance checks.
I'll never touch a 147, especially after one spontaneously combusted next to my friend's mint E30 325i coupe. The only Alfa I'd put up with all the problem for is the Brera.
I think the UK CTR should be put into the same category as the Golf GTI. Unfortunately, the interior will not appeal to middle age buyers.
I'd definitely be looking into this! I hope it'll fall just under 40k!
Anyone know the colour range and options available when new? I don't have flash here to access the website.
Woah so many pages - I'm so not reading it all lol so I apologise if I repeat some other statements.
OK it is about time Honda Australia did this - and we now finally have a CTR. However, I just wish it was the sedan that we were getting. That thing looks hot - the hatch; well I'm not impressed. Nothing on the EK9.
If the sedan came out I'd be seriously considering buying it. But not the sedan. :(
Just a hypothetical, what if the JDM CTR was the hatch with 162kW, while the UKDM one was the 147kW sedan. Would you still want the sedan then?
:) :) :) agreed
actually, yes, i will get it (sedan ukdm with 142 kw,note:headlight and taillight should like CTR), because power doesn't mean too much, even with current civic, i got speeding fine $600 + 3 month suspension 6 month ago, and 2 days ago, just got another fine $77 because JUST ONLY OVER 10km/h (70 in 60zone, unbelieveable that cops!!!!!):( :(
sorry out of topic, anyway, i will still buy if the price around 30k
What speed were you doing to cop the $600 fine?
hmmmm.... 100km in 60zone:o :o :o
but it's just 5 second mate.in front of me there are 4-5 slow cars(prob 50km/h),and i am bloody late to church(:D :D still a good God's son:angel: ) and there is merge lane in front of us.i thought i will stuck, so i take over those cars, i think, from those 5 cars, one of them is police car
suddendly, in my middle mirror, i saw red and blue light(nearly dark at that time), i tought wow ambulance, pull over, hang on, why this ambulance also pull over ? ohhhh s****
Note: Sedan isn't coming to AUS.
Shouldn't be comparing things that isn't available here. There will always be something better overseas. Obviously everyone wants the sedan version but it wouldn't make sense if they just brought out the hatch and the sedan at the same time. There will be no market for the hatch obviously. My thoughts only.
by the way, the CTR will only be release around 1000 units here in Oz... ^_^ And if many ppl are demanding more of the sedan, Honda might bring them here as well in 2 years or so... (this is after I ask a Honda dealer, no 100% confirmation though)
Also he sed that Honda was going to bring the Civic Hatchback instead of CTR Hatchback. And the price of the Civic Hatchback is almost the same as the CTR, thats why they cancel it and bring the CTR instead
every uk magazine even topgear say this car is the hot hatch king!!!
i'm not saying this car is not good, but for AUD 40k+, for hatch i think it's too expensive.we have a lot of choices (more lux, more power, more sporty).but if we see this car alone, wow, i will say very GOOD!impresive!
if this hatch for sale about 20k+ or 30k-, i will sale car+plasma+fridge+washing machine to make money to buy this car:D
of course, UK mag will say good, because this is theirs car! is ever ausie mag said bad about holden? even they gave title : car of the year:eek:
Two cool clips i found.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhbfGjVSvn0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a9s9cdmvKQ
But I prefer this CTR though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBRbCrqMQB4
Stig loves the car, he chose the CTR over the other Hot hatches. Its not about how fast you go its about how fun the car is when you drive it, the CTR didn't do to well around the track compared to the other hatches he purely chose it because it was fun to drive.
If you look at last years top gear, GTI won the car of the year award because it was fun disregarding the lap time against other hatches. If you want a racing car then you are better off getting another car other then this.
Interesting hypothetical.
If you were to say that "a" JDM CTR hatch had the following attributes;
- mechanical LSD
- independant rear suspension
- light weight. Let's face it, 1300+ kgs (with a/c) is NOT light for a 3 door hatch in absolute terms (relative to the competition - maybe).
- 50% greater torsional rigidity than a JDM DC5R
- "considered" engineering touches (e.g. lowering the seat height to lower centre of gravity to offset the MPV-like body etc etc etc and all the other detailed changes we expect for a true "Type R")
...then the answer would be YES. I probably would prefer the hatch.
Too bad that none of those attributes exist for this UK CTR we're getting.
If Honda Australia can bring the JDM CTR sedan then I would buy it, as it would be the only car that Honda Australia could (potentially) make available to us that is worthy of being a replacement for the DC2R - the only true Type R experience that us Aussies have been able to purchase from a dealer.
I think for honda australia to bring in any type R is definately a good cause...the reason being that they needed a hot hatch to compete against the GTI, focus, etc, not a hot sedan as the JDM civic is
niceeeeeee.. but $$
delaer says to me 41990 + onroad . but no confirmation yet
If that is the price,it's too pricey.
Ford XR5 $35,990 + onroad.Renault Megane Sport-$39,999 Drive away.Golf (GTI)M 3 dr $38,490 + onroad.Madza 3 MPS $39,990 + onroad costs.
Only $1,000 cheaper than the awesome Astra VRX.
The question, based on that price assumption,is do I have enough brand loyalty to Honda to order a CTR
What you are quoting is the base model of each car. What sitta is quoting isn't the base model its the GT model, the base model should be about 38K or less then the golf. NOthing has been announced yet so there isn't any point comparing costs yet.
Add up all the features in the GTI along with the CTR you will see a price difference there.
This is the deal breaker for me and the missus unfortunately. There are advantages to a torsion beam rear end..... usually a larger and a wider hatch space which is always a good thing in a hatch for lugging the odd bit of gear in the back. There is nothing saying that you can not get a torsion beam setup to handle on par with a multilink/wishbone setup...... for starters there is no wild camber changes (at the rear) on lowering the car is nice :) ..... but I would still prefer a multilink setup for this reincarnation of the CTR.
As for the jap CTR...... I don't really care about the 160kw odd K20...... slap in the same spec one from the DC5S and bring it here for $45k, and I don't think the missus and I would be able to say no. :)
Someone mentioned something about how strong peoples brand loyalty is to Honda...... in Australia..... 0% :p
im a dealer and im still not even mentioning price untill i hear from honda aus itself!
just remember the integra type S was around 47k ON ROAD!
if u compare the CTR its heaps better value than the 06 teg type s, the teg type s was low on value and goodies compared to the new CTR.
lol not to mention the worst turning circle ever!, only 4 bags, no VSA, and terrible seats!
even the rexnet boys are giving this thing some respect!
Y CANT THEY PUT THE SPOILER ON THIS WAY? http://www.chichi.me.uk/wp-content/mytyper.jpg ITS MUCH BETTER
snap!! that looks heaps better for some reason.......
http://www.chichi.me.uk/wp-content/mytyper.jpg
that spoiler FTW! i love it!
Will Honda bring the 4 door sedan Type R to Aus? Its just been released in Japan so if they do it'll be a while away. I prefer the 4 door to the hatch.
nice but could ad some bodykit?
Hope new CTR can provide more colours to choose, but it seems just dream~
man the body on the new type r looks so mint
so is it true apart from no brembo brakes, we will be getting 17" rims instead of the 18" rims?
