Just ordered a Fujita SRI & Helix TBS! Can't wait :D
SRI = short ram intake = short pipe = good responsive ness, but shortpipe= taking on hot air sometimes
CAI = cold air intake = long pipe but draws cold air from lower in the bumper.
Considering the K20Z2 has a more humble VTEC roar compared to the older engines I decided on the SRI to make the best of it. What's a little engine heat gonna compromise...as long as the car is moving there will be a good flow of fresh air anyway.
Question that I should have asked before giving away my credit card credentials:
Will installing an intake that was designed for the K20Z3 throw a CEL (check engine light) on my K20Z2?
I've never, ever experienced a CEL when installing intakes on ANY of my cars (this is my 7th) but have read that it happens on the FD2 (great.)
Anyone know?
Potentially. The CEL would be because the ECU's not getting communication to the MAF sensor - make sure it's got a little slot to stick it into (if it's designed for the z3 then it should be fine)
keep in mind though, the USDM si's aren't exactly the same as the FD2, so you may have fitment issues
check the hole for the MAF sensor - if you want, pm me a picture of the intake setup (the parts for it) of the SRI ur buying and ill check it out for you and do my best to advise you lol.
The MAF sensor hole is round and has two points for screws. Looks just like what our MAF sensors would fit into...google Civic Si Fujita SRI for pics? lol sorry I'm on my iPhone
