Good tyres for Euro 17" Rims

Just to update today i went to change all 4 corners to RE001.

sport max and RE001 both got quoted 850ish blance fitted and alignment. For the same amount of money i choose to go for latest design. At least it's something eh......



For what i paid i think it's pretty good value for money, road noise is definately down by almost 50%, probably just because my dunlop is nearly worn out. Steering response is good, but alignment is getting worse... will need to take it back again.

I got only 15000k out of my Yokohama V550 on the back.

do you do tyre rotations as yfin suggested? and other preventative maintenance, like proper inflations *actually, that's all I can think of! :(*

Thats strange, I would've thought your fronts would wear out faster

the standard 17" size is 225/45/r17

can i fit 235/45/r17 and is it ok to do so?

Using the tyre size calculator at: www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

It reads that using a 235/45/17 will mean yr avg speed will be 1.4% higher, not a huge difference.

This size tyre is also more suited to a wider rim such as 17x8. I am also considering this size and a previous Euro owner "Yfin" on this forum was also using this size on a 17 x 7.5' wheel, see his comment below in this post: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/newrepl...reply&p=995168.

Too hard on stock suspension is an unusual complaint. How hard do you usually pump up the tyres?

If you do change eg for 17" - go for min 7.5" wide then you can fit 235/45/17. It has a higher sidewall compared to 225/45/17 so if you want more ride comfort that is the size for you. It is also cheaper in terms of tyre selection.

as above you cant put that size on the stock 17" rims

have anyone had experience with nankang ns2? i've seen some good reviews, like its good for the price

i know someone said not to skimp on tyres, but expensive doesnt always mean better.

Thanks for all the advice guys. :thumbsup: Installed the rims today (looks so much better than the 16" ones) with Yokohama S drives. Didn't really have the chance to push the car hard today but the car seems to corner flatter now. It could change a bit as the tyres wear in more.
