check to see if the thermastat isnt scored on the sides ... it could be getting stuck...
its usually pretty easy to inspect. also make sure u know what temp the thermastat is opening...
there usually 10 bucks from super cheap its a easy job ive done it recently
is seems like a hard job getten the screw out because of its awkward position! but somehow ill get there, cheers dude
BOLT not screw.....
drain the coolant first... then take the frnt hose off and u mite b able to get to if a little easier...
all my coolants gone anyways as i took that off thinking the thermostat was in there, i was wrong, so now its like 1/5 coolant and the rest water..but cheers for the advice..is that how u did it?
pretty sure A-men ment u should take out all fluid from the radiator n hoses so u can access the thermo. doesnt matter if its water n coolant
yeh thats what i meant
thanks for clarifying for me...
whats the verdict????
aw yeh btw
whos car was it that was hard to start sometimes and would just cut out sometimes and stuff??? did they fix the problem?
that would be mine i think well im on another distrubutor/coils and my tacho is disconnected because my mechanics think its giving feedback to it causing it to skitz but my tacho and ecu have been all checked out outside of the car its running ok atm but its loud
running no mufflers with just a cat on a 2 1/4 system because the muffler was about to fall off so i got the hacksaw and cut it off
i fixed the problem..the dickhead repair guy put to much coolant in, pratically no water just coolant...so thinking thats wat screwed the thermostat up, so i didnt have to replace it i just chuck alot of water in the radiator...cheers for helping
hey, need some advice!
i have a toss up between:
Skunk2 PRO-S COIL OVER vs dc2r stock sussy, 5 lug conversion and rims
whats ure opinion? for street/track use.
skunk2 arent that great imo. better off going koni yellow and ground controls. imo. can source cheap from US
You serious? I bought both my tegs for 1k, each, as wrecks. 172k on the manual 140k on the auto. I'm yet to see a stock wreck go for over $1200. Surely you can pick up a decent condition manual for $400 or less.
Fitting I agree with, an front wheel drive box will be pricey.
where did you buy them as wrecks? auctions?
fwd g/boxs r easy to put in.... i did it and new clutch in a day
on a da9
so the thermastat was fuked because of to much coolant and not enough water???
so was it ur coil that was broke or ur dizzy?? (ignition module?)
the guy at work he used to work for a speed shop and hes done a heap of rally cars and he rekons use king springs. i dnt think skunk2 r that good imo either...
Ill take a pic soon its not too hot almost stock atm had it for a quite a few weeks now.
im not complaning with my king springs, there very good...and yeh i dont think thats why it was screwed as the temprature sat on cold all the way home otnight, tomorrow it will be replaced!
whats the actual temp????
because its not good having an engine not run at operating temp... it could b the sender mite have a loose conection or something
sounds suspect i dnt understand how it will just make it drop
well it sits a lil under half way normally....then all of the suden wen id be driving for a whill it will gradually fall all the way down to cold...then id stop and itd go up a lil for a while etc..ill get my mate to check it tomoz...wheres the sender anyways
just behind the frnt water housing
Yeh I bought them through pickles and fowles auctions. I think theres a grey DA9 with a rear hit in a melbourne auction soon. Google for their sites, their web pages are pretty good.
A fwd gearbox is not easy to remove in comparison to rwd. And remember a day is 8 hours of labour at $40 an hour thats $320 and good luck getting a mechanic for under $50 that knows his stuff most are 60 - 70 up here.
yeh they r heaps easier and u should be able to get the gearbox out the top of the engine bay from what i remember
Hi guys,
A quick question. Anyone here have done a Da9 Swap to a JDM B18C type R? i know that the wiring will need to re-do, how about engine mounts? can our DA9 drive shaft fit the B18C R engine? Any other things that i need to pay attention too?
Regards
wire wont need to be re done just purchase a conversion harness from obdo ecu to whatever the jdm b18cr is, and will have to use stock da9 drive shafts? engine mounts are fine.
i did a b18c conversion. make sure who ever does the job knows about honda's and sticks to the quote price
correct me if im wrong,
So that means if i don't wanna re do the wiring i just need to purchase a conversion harness from OBDO ecu or for OBDO ecu? So Da9 drive shafts shd be able to fit into the b18CR rite?
another question... our da9 gearbox are using cable whereas the b18cR gearbox is using hydraulic... would i face any problem on later stage if i put in the b18cR gearbox onto a da9?!
Worried
would a set of extractors for a Honda Integra late 93 to 2000 model fit the Da integra? and wat would u have to do to make it fit? just flange change or would it not fit the head either? cheers
depends mate! b series headers all fit each other but the type r tegs have larger inlets/oulets and supposibily the flanges aswell =) vti-rs are the same as da9s i think no one quote me on this =)
hmm so aslong as its not for the type r it should be fine and all needed would be flange change and angle? sweet
fit should be fine but the cat flange might be the wrong angle.
see how at the end there is a flange with a hole either side.
some models the holes are at different angles

has anyone played with scissor doors u can buy off ebay "bolt on" for a da9???
im considering buying them just for the obvious hand horsepower
dont ruin the DA
yeah dude... u should know better than that!
well i did something rice on my car today...

^ Adam I'm never talking to you again lol
fairy lights only look good on the R8
So that means if i don't wanna re do the wiring i just need to purchase a conversion harness from OBDO ecu or for OBDO ecu? So Da9 drive shafts shd be able to fit into the b18CR rite?
another question... our da9 gearbox are using cable whereas the b18cR gearbox is using hydraulic... would i face any problem on later stage if i put in the b18cR gearbox onto a da9?!
Worried
it was just for fun...i was gonna put it under the door as a light when i open the door..hahaha dun worry it own't stay there for long
i like them......
i think the lambo doors would look **** has anyone seeen them????
is anyone keen on goin halves in postage with me either?
conversion harness FROM (da9) obd0 > (dc2r) obd1/2a
when u change the gearbox u have to change the clutch kit aswell to suit the box
eg: hydro clutch setup with a hydro (dc2) box
vs
cable clutch with cable (da9) box
IMO hydro has more moving parts to worry about but is much nicer on the foot and easier to deal with.
hydro to cable conversion is easy, just need the hydro clutch pedal, master and lever. correct me if im wrong?
Crashed my project DA9 last friday night :(
Sucks Balls :thumbdwn:
no pics of what you have messed up?
CD5 lip is back up for grabs for your da9.
http://i31.tinypic.com/358c300.jpg
$ 50 bucks (pick up) Melb only.
Pictured on a late model bar (no mods required) but will fitt your early bar also (with some trimming).
Hope FR33K doesn't mind, but he's fitted it to the early bar b4 so ask him what needs to be done for fitment.
yeah there is here: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92609
pm sent bout the lip
sold 2 hours ago.
damn...
yeh that sucks, i wanted that:( ahwell...also how do u guys recomnd i block off the breather that goes to the oil, top of the rocket cover or watever... the breather whole on the CAI piping (obviously) not the actual breather ontop of the engine... cheers
Get a little rocker filter/breather. Autobarn sell them with the inserts to fit almost everything these days.
Also... Sorry guys the lip is sold.
Thanks for meeting up today DA9B18C... happy lipping
yeh i got one of those lil filters (like a mini pod filter) and im putting that on where the rocker cover is, just wondering how you guys plug the breather whole that it came from (the CAI pipe hole) cause i dont want air just going everywhere...or do you mean put on there aswell?
if your short/long ram intake has the hole in it for the rocker cover breather hose you may aswell connect the
hose.
But if you don't want to run the hose the breather/filter will need to be fitted
and purchase a rubber block off piece for the intake side.
From memory Burson sell them... I'd imagine Autobarn & Repco will be able to get them also.
so they sell lil plug things to put here:
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...008002-1-1.jpg
yep the above mentioned do.
Another way would be to use a bolt of the same size, & cut down it's length
so it doesn't mess with the the inner intake hoses breathing and just use your
existing clamp to clamp it into place.
I imagine you will have to cut off the upper middle section, where it wraps around into the grille area on the CD5 bar,
Thats judging form the pic that it's fitted to on the previous page.
Sorry, should have explained that... but apart from that I'm sure it's just a bolt on affair.
Yeah PM FR33K he should be able to sort you out or give you a link form H-T or G2iC.com he's the DA master.
yeh i looked around...for the 90-91 bar u have to cut a section out in the middle and reconnect the two pieces (shorten it) and for the 92-93 i think its straight bolt on jsut a few holes need drilling...wreckers here i come!
lol hey guys.. i only fit the CD5 lip to my 89-91 bar, which involved shortening the lip by a couple of inches down the centre and sticking it back together !!
havent fit it to my 93 bar.. just bought a type r lip instead :P
im thinking of getting the type r lip...but only comes in 300 a pair...anyone with 92-93 bumper wana half it with me?
willing to sell me ur lip freek?
hey spoon..wat 300 for 2? i may be interested..link me
oo yeh...since i bought the black DA the clock has been stuck on 01:00....any ideas on how to get it working again.....and yes ive tryed setting the clock with the lil buttons..not working! cheers
Can you set it or does it just stay at 1? Does it count up normally while the car is running?
If its permenantly on 1:00 and doesn't change its probably going to be more of pain to fix than its worth. Pull it out and have a look for anything obviously ****ed.
ok guys im thinking i may get te type R lip...but not 100%...i am currently bargaining with a guy in the US to get a few shipped down..He said that by getten more then 1 (i.e. 2-5, DER) itll cost much cheaper (well thats true) so if any of you guys are interested in a type r lip or other parts he will work it out and try and get only one postage cost...preferably melbourne people so we can split the price and easily deliver to each other... Cheers guys
u already know i m in with ya!
well i no that lol:P just seeing if theres any other interest so so far:
-thescotty
-Spoon DA9R
what's his website for other stuff they do?
where have you guys (with a picture if you can get one) earthed your amp (for the sub)...which bolt or did yuou make your own....i think mine earth is wats screwing with the power to the subs.
where you put the wire...like which bolt of the seatbelt
Not the seat belt lol.
The golden bracket and bolts where the rear seat backrest bolts to the floor.
sorry i ment bolt not belt lol....but yeh i think i tryed those ones and they still didnt work.....:s ill look around again later. raining now so cant be assed:s
Hey guys,
I am getting the battery light come on and off on the dash so i think the Alternator is stoping and starting up again. Sometimes the light will only stay on for 10 min of a 50min trip anyway.
I think it is time for a new/Recondition Alternator for my 90' DA9 What are People Running here OEM or aftermarket and what amp ?
Also what brands are recommended.
btw stock engine.
Any Replys welcome.
check the connections it might be coming loose.... it might just be loose etc.
it sounds weird for it to stop and start theres nothing that i can recall in the alternator that will make it do that... check ur belts but i dnt think itll be the problem.........
I did check the belt it is nice and tight but ill look at the connections also.
Cheers.
meh dont care bout scratching paint off just trying to find a good tight place to earth it. cheers mate will look into it tomoz.
or u can use where the old cd stacker used to sit in the boot... thats where mine used to be
I got the Alternator tested today it is on its way out ;)
Change over around $200 from one place and for another place $450 he didnt Say if that was new or change over the thing is ive got a AWN warranty for 3 yrs with the car i know warranty's such as this one are a bit knob lol but i Thought i would make use of it they will cover up to $500 on the alternator.
Otherwise i can just do my own thing and get it done and pay the cash out of my own pocket. Might hang out until Tuesday see what AWN say what there willing to give me.
your getting ripped !
Any DA boys want some urethane lower control arm bushes?
