lol try selling it to DreadAngel he seems to not think km's are very important when it comes to purchasing a car
180,000kms of highway driving or 100,000kms of vtec?
within reason I would consider it if we're talking 20-30,000km's then it wouldn't matter but he is arguing over car A with 70,xxx and car B with 160,xxx km's which is a massive difference.
i had a buyer for my s2000 very quick
i put my add up on ozhonda/jdmst at night and i was contacted within the hour.
the person inspected it the next day liked it. he organised a mechanical inspection the following thursday and left a deposit =D
what made my sale quick was being very honest
at least youve got yours priced within the redbook valuation guide. i dont understand how other people are selling them above the value of the redbook guide. Are the majority of them so poorly taken care of that when a "clean" on comes up it drives the price up?
Also out of curiosity, is anyone over 6 foot that owns one on these forums?
I don't disagree with you guys, sometimes the km's aren't an important variable e.g. my neighbour bought a CS4 wrx with like very close to 300,000km's on it, no accident history off the 1st owner, who had it serviced with no expenses spared, but he had almost every part replaced and had more than the cars initial showroom value in maintenance receipts over the years... but the car was probably one of the cleanest I've seen to date... we also had a guy trade in a 20 year old 5 series the other day (single owner) car had done 430,000km's lol but literally had no points for our evaluator to lowball him on except for the km's, car was unbelievably well kept but again had nearly $50k in receipts collected over the years... but just remember the other parts on the car, like it's not simply just the engine, I think you guys are forgetting all the small bits and pieces who aren't effected by the type of driving but purely by the amount of road they've seen...
I'm over 6". BYS seat rail makes world of difference in an s2000 if you're above average height.
I find my legs ache after driving for 30mins+...
Maybe it's the seating position

found ur porblem bro
Maybe you bought a Flintstones car.
do you want the real answer? everyone thinks they're going to be buying a brand new car at anything over 20k. Ap1 is a 10+ year old car. Expect no history, high kms, worn parts, missed service intervals, leaks here n there, etc... everyone wants a brand new car for 20k. pfft. wake up to reality.. you'll buy one with no apparent issues, 2 months later, bang, needs a clutch, needs brakes, TCT gone, CV joint vibrating, n bla bla. so i'd just buy the cheapest one out there for a bargain, that way when something blows, can justify replacing it.
People need to stop spending 25-30k for a 'clean' AP1. We should be buying AP2s for that price. Because AP2s are the newer ones that you'd expect to be clean and to have more value, which insurance companies and redbook shows.
Bought mine for mid 20's and its immaculate. I'd spend that much again knowing it hasn't been in a prang, the kms are genuine and it's been checked out with no issues whatsoever. Even my interior is brand new.
You might have to wait but eventually one comes up at a decent price in excellent condition. You may say I didn't get a bargain but I'd beg to differ. I'd never consider one that's in bad condition just cos it's cheap, not worth the headache IMO. If I didn't find this s that I have now, I'd be driving something else. It just came up for sale at the right time - just after I sold my cv8.
Youre right we should be paying 25-30k for an ap2 but a good ap1 is hard enough to find so its only natural that an ap2 in good nick is worth $40,000 and an immaculate ap1 can fetch high 20's.
i found a "clean ap1", however insuring it is a whore. NRMA and AAMI have an agreed value on it for $16k with a $5000 premium. Just car has a maximum agreed value of $12.5k.
Mine was insured with just car at $23,000. So I don't see how you've been offered such a quote. I'm with Lumley now paying under $1500 and its at an agreed value of I think 25.
Maybe give them a call. Surely it couldn't have dropped 10k in value in the last month. Maybe it has to do with your area or something it's very strange.
year of AP1 makes a difference. an 03 ap1 will be valued at over 20k
GPW AP1 popped up in Sydney
Looks some what clean from the pics
Get on it
That ones been up before I swear I recognize those pictures
Surely silver is not the 2nd most wanted colour lol
id say GPW - Black - Blue - Red - Silver - Yellow
I'd rather silver over blue and red.
On another note a gpw one just came up with 30,000km on the clock $29,000
oh the one in perth?
suspiciously modified cluster/
GPW & BB would be the most desirable colours
With Silverstone being the least desirable
The other colours are subjective
judging by the cluster, I found the driver

^^^true story
Checked out the red 99 model. Would the fact that it has 18inch wheels on it cause the steering to become super heavy and the ride more sensitive to bumps?
yeah, but the steering is always pretty heavy on an S2000
It felt heavier turning to the right than to the left. I thought it may have been because of the larger wheel diameter. I've test driven 3 thus far and two have been heavy, one has felt quite light and more manoeuvrable.
Hard to determine without physically driving/seeing the car but it may be caused by multiple things such as - Different tyres on each wheel, Different psi, Out of alignment, Damaged steering/control arm etc.
Majority of the S2K's I've driven have felt light and manoeuvrable like you described, and the ones that didn't ended up being lemons
Me too :) I like black with red leather as well but it's too hard to keep clean. I like white but only if its pearl and it needs red leather.
What's with the silver s2000 in qld with no rego, asking 16k with 113,000km surely that should be snapped up by now?
Anyone looked at it?
im pretty sure the EPS actually has a mechanism or program in the ECU that varies the sensitivity of the steering feel depending on how the car is being driven. i think cruising at 100 ks it goes heavy, taking turns etc goes light depending on the speed. and what i'm saying is separate to the VGS models.
Inputs from the steering sensor are digested by a microprocessor control unit that also monitors input from the vehicle's speed sensor. The sensor inputs are then compared to determine how much power assist is required according to a preprogrammed "force map" in the control unit's memory. The control unit then sends out the appropriate command to the "power unit" which then supplies the electric motor with current. The motor pushes the rack to the right or left depending on which way the voltage flows (reversing the current reverses the direction the motor spins). Increasing the current to the motor increases the amount of power assist.
well cruising at 50-60km/hr and braking to stop aren't really the best situations to assess how the steering feels. are they? but anyway. there could be an issue with its EPS. whether its the computer/connection to the speed sensor/the torque sensor. Or it could just be not test driving an s2 in the same conditions as another you test drove well enough to notice
Seems like the demand is beating the supply of S2000 all over NSW!
Recently sold my Evo and wanting to get into a Z4/S2000 - got a new job where the 'sensible/professional' image the BMW gives would be good but cannot go past the S2000 in terms of sportiness and the fact that i've always loved my Hondas (previously owned 3 Hondas)
Patiently camping for a S2000 though from the looks of most NSW ones there seems to be no luck so far
Silverstone ap2 in Melbourne for $32,000 get on it.
If it had red leather i would have jumped on it. If it was gpw it'd be in my garage already haha
for that price, i would respray it to the colour i want and still consider it a good buy. if the car is in decent condition
No one wants a respray when you go to resell it. Better to just live with the colour you get.
All the s2k colours are nice and standard anyway (the blues, silverstone, yellow, red & black). Unless you go that light blue metallic in the 03 which isn't too bad either.
suzuka/nurburg blue.. my fav.. rarest of them all

what would a 99, Red S2K be worth with roughly 133k kms, logbooks 3 keys and stock as a rock? Clean with 2 scuff marks??
Are the S2K red's prone to fading like every other Red Honda :(
i saw an apex blue one go for like 50k a few years ago
I wouldn't pay anymore than 18-19K, depending on condition
No colours are prone to fading more than others, people just don't look after their paint
All the fading red Honda's you see are the neglected EG's that are left out side and never washed or waxed/sealed etc
I'd say 19k. If its really clean maybe 20 (noting that its not a respray from white)
This use to be true 30 years ago when cars were sold without clear coat, but these days all cars are clear coated so it doesn't matter what colour they are
What you probably saw on the FN2 was a heavily oxidised clear coat, the actual red paint has not faded but the clear coat has become oxidised (giving a dull faded appearance)
good point
See I haven't driven enough S2K's to notice. I have not seen that one yet, i did look at 1 yesterday with i think 17's or 18's and even still the steering felt very light. Was the heavy steering only when stationary or all the time? Anything else to pick on about it??
