what is wrong with the aurion sportivo? i reckon that thing is sexy
hHhmMm.. there is quite alot of ppl getting 10ltr/100km around here.. i know aurion would be more.. but its a smoother ride..
i am in the same boat. considering price of civic vti-l and aurion base model, which one should i go for? they are almost same price for auto drive away. aurion maybe 500 bucks more as they are offering 31900 driveaway. civic is 29500 driveaway. i reckon i can get toyota to settle down at 30ish. opinions ? advises?
Hi OzHonda forum,
New to this forum as I am scouring for good info to help retiring father-in-law buy 09 Civic Vti Auto. Likely his last car purchase:)
His initial enquiry @ 2 Melbourne dealers netted $29k and $27k offers without extras and without haggling.
This forum leads me to think much better can be had...maybe 25-26k with some good accessories.
Any thoughts on the better Melbourne dealers?
Have prices risen since early this year that will affect the 25-26k idea?
Going to dealers tomorrow to see what we can do?
All opinions welcomed
if you want good accessories with it 25-26k might be hard to get... at 26k you should be able to get at least matt and tints.
Thank is what i think, hope it help.
Yes, I thought it might be go for low dollars (25k) and practically no accessories or get as many accessories as possible and pay the little extra (26k). Guess it depends on which way the salesman is going;)
Thanks for your thoughts.

hi guys ... just signed up to get your thoughts on what i should be aiming for in terms of the civic vti 40th anniversary limited edition...
this is what it comes with extra....
* Alloy wheels
* Rear park assist
* Fog lights
* Deluxe tailored floor mats
* Chrome exhaust finisher
* 40th Anniversary badge
cheapest with no haggling ive been quoted is $26,950.. so $300 off rrp...
im thinking i should try for $26k driveaway with bluetooth and window tint???
i want to add in bluetooth (quoted $800) and window tint ... unless its better to get them after market? not sure whether i should just get it straight away
(im pretty much set on the civic... imo nothing compares for the price and for what im getting )
Jeez.... I saw the same car for $24,990 drive away advertised in this Saturday's age.
I don't know if the advertised models are actually 2008 run outs. From the pic in the paper the fog lights look different so they are possibly 2009 models.
Also $800 for bluetooth.....now that's just cream for the fat cat.
i just got our black civic VTI 40th auto today!
got it cleaned up and on the floor! dont think it will last long
Just bought a 40th Anniv Civic and I can't help thinking I got ripped off a little bit
This was my deal:
Civic 40th VTi
- Flat paint (white)
- Auto
which has the following in package
- mats
- 15" alloys
- parking assist
- exhaust tips
- fog lights
- 1 year rego
I got the following added
- extended warranty
- touch up paint
- luggage area protection
- pollen filter
for $28055
The salesguy had the following tricks:
- claimed that 40th anniversary cars were very popular and a lot have been sold even though it's only the first week into the promotion.
- claimed that white was very popular and out of the 400 odd Oz cars designated as 40th anniversary, their dealership only got 11, and had only 1 white left that was unspoken for.
- an official looking Honda memo that states the dealer will just get $500 per car for the anniversary editions (which he claims is confidential but it was in a folder with his other materials...)
- claimed that the purchase price was not movable because of Honda Australia locking them into a small margin, and that they had just had a meeting with Honda HQ about it to voice their exasperation
- claimed that he just wanted to make the sales numbers, and was making minimal money on it.
- claimed that they are still on the way here, so won't be available till end of Oct (2009).
I know these are pretty standard excuses, but I would like to know if there is any basis in truth, if there are any truthful anonymous Honda salespersons on this forum? Is the 40th Anniv promotion pretty popular? The guy was convincing but all good salespeople are. He pretty much didn't want to budge from the advertised anniversary price. When I called him out on the $895 for extended warranty, he said he would give it to me "at cost which was $750". Does that sound right?
In hindsight, I should have stuck to my guns and walked out to see if another dealer could beat the deal.
I have a feeling there was another $1k in there to play with??
I also did have a trade in, and got a slightly better than red-book trade-in value for it (private sale value obviously much higher, but I doubt I could have sold this car easily, as it had high mileage and subtle engine problems). I'm pretty sure they didn't take any sort of hit on the trade in though, as I'm sure they will make their margin on the resale.
Anyway, just comparing notes and keeping prospective buyers informed. I wish I had found this site beforehand :(
the three delears here in sa that i have spoken with have all said exactly the same thing... only one was willing to give me a quote and he would only budge $500 on the price saying that there was nothing in it for them
i do and dont believe them because i know thats what they would say if it wasn't true... but it doesnt make sense to sell a car at cost!
one other thing that two of the dealerships said was that honda australia was making them 'absorb' the extra costs included in the 40th anniversary edition... so not sure what to believe atm
Finally had the chance to speak to a dealer and she went down to $27k for the Ann edition with metalic paint pretty easy... she wouldn't go down to 26 at all.. So I'm thinking 26k is achievable with some more haggling
most of what u have been told is true!
the sales guy told u how it is and id tell u the same stuff!
we are getting stuff all cars to sell and it sucks big time!
they are better value than a normal VTi.
you are dreaming if u think u could get another 1k discount.
why the hell would any dealer discount a good value car when they get stuff all cars from honda and everyone wants one?
u got a car so be happy as there will be alot of people who miss out!
Another salesman ;)
went to another dealership and thought i had it at 26.5k (only extra was metalic paint) but after speaking to his 'boss' couldnt do it....
i walked away after saying i couldnt go to 27k thinking he would ring me back saying he would do it at 26.5k but no call...
other dealership also said $27k was the cheapest....
this limited edition deal is good in my opinion for the alloys only....all the other 'extras' i can add on after market cheaper imo
but now im thinking about other cars if i cant get this one at the right price :(
got quoted from honda paramatta
30k for VtiL Auto on white
with
fog light
floor mat
tint
what do you think?..i think i can still ask more freebies...
ended up getting the civic anniversary edition in black for 27k ..
i was on the verge of signing for the impreza rx but salesguy wouldnt go to straight 30k for the auto.. only 30.5.. would have gotten it over the honda for the price just based on the drive alone.. but damn the dash was ugly/outdated
the subaru guy rang me twice while i was negotiating at honda and he still wouldnt go down to the 30k mark :thumbdwn:
anyways... honda wouldnt move on the 27k price mark..
tried to get at least the first service free ... but nothing :(
didnt realise but my wife had previously worked with the finance guy at honda... and after the sale was done he showed us the 'sales board' and explained that we had bought the 9th civic anniversary edition (out of 10 allocated to the dealership) and the last black one since the promotion started...and about 5 accords anniversary edition
also interesting that they had sold 6 cars on a tuesday the 6th .. after the long weekend i guess..
also the guy that had sold us the civic had the most sales with 7...
also.. 16 hondas had been sold since the start of the month and 5 of those financed through honda finance
they tried to sell me the window tint for $495 and a parrot bluetooth hands free kit for $900 plus all that crap 'protection' starting at $700 going up to $2k :o
ive organised window tint at $250 at a local place here .. darkest legal tint
and also a nice hands free kit at tonkins for $320 is next to be done :p
all in all im happy with my purchase and hope i have a good run with my first honda
thanks to everyone who has put up their thoughts and experiences
The first service for any Honda car is generally free isn't it?
Hi guys,
I am about to do a deal for the Honda Civic for 24K drive away (manual).
White or Red in colour
What do you think?
Derrick
Hey Derrick,
Congrats on the car! VTI or 40th Anniversary?
What extras did u get with it?
Are you planning any mods? If so, i would go white. Red is okay stock though.
Has any one scored an Auto 40th anniversary Civic under $26000 yet? I saw in the paper that RRP was $27290 drive away.
is it worth getting the 5years extended plus roadside warranty??..they quoted me around $600+
so ill be paying 30k driveaway for a VTiL Auto with fog, tint, and mat only with a standard 3yrs warranty
all the adelaide dealers... the cheapest i could get it with metallic paint was $27k
26.5 with non metallic...
and the way they are selling i dont think they will go any lower
My dealer quoted me 40th anniversary limited edition, with tinting, door visor, extended warranty and roadside assist, metallic paint for $27200 driveaway. good deal?
guys.... i've uploaded the official honda civic genuine accessories price list
see here for the pdf.. ( i blanked out the dealership name )

Guys just a quick Q's in regard to the the 40th anniversary Civic, i been told around a few hundreds of the "40th anniversary" badges been allocated for Civic, Accord ect...just wondering can the dealer use a normal Civic and build them into what it called the " 40th anniversary" and sell it as the special edition and registered the car as " 40th anniversary" edition ???
Cheers :-)

folks just brought home a 40th anniversary for $14600 on the road (minus $13000 trade-in for a crv that they've had for a while now)... all the extras as part of the 40th anniversary edition plus metallic paint and tinting :)
just picked up my black 40th anniversary on wednesday :D
am loving the car so far!
have installed the parrot 3200ls bluetooth system
and am going in an hour to pick up my car after getting it window tinted 20% (legal here in sa is 35% ) all round for $200!
was worried that the tint might void my warranty so i told my insurance (mutual community) the tint would be illegal and they said it wouldnt void my warranty but if they were to replace my windows they would only replace up to the legal amount :D
well done sapook on picking up the car.. its a step up (for me) from the stupid lancer es 08 i was driving... its soooo much better in every way
!
thanks to everyone here for the help!

Isn't import tariffs on OS mfg'd cars supposed to drop by 5% next year?
What's the likely-hood of them being passed on?
free trade agreement with Thailand so 0% reductions, but the hybrid built in Jap you may see 5% reduction on the price.
bought a civic vti auto in Sydney for 24,500 with Mats + Luggage area tray protector.
Honda themselves had a end of year special for free extended warranty and metallic paint.
It was 23,990 drive away b4 xmas in victoria for the 2010 VTI manual models. Just make sure you get the news paper which shows free metallic paint or they will charge your extra $350.00 (>.< Honda at princes hwy Chadstone still keeps saying its a misprint on 2 different news papers LOL) but ended up getting my civic at about 25-26k with tint, pain/interior protection, dent warranty.
>.< but have to wait till feb-march b4 they have stock
Anyone bought a 2010 model yet? Looking at one tomorrow, got quoted just under $27000 on the phone this morning and that it is negotiable. Do you think they'd also throw in extras?
Is that the only thing different compared to the 09 model?
Mine..
Bulid Jan 2010, MY10 and obviously complied 10,
Honda Civic VTI-L, with Mats, Fogs, Rear Sensors, Tint, Fulltank of Fuel, and Mudflaps for $29,400 d/a
Cheers S...
Hey VTIL,
Do you have the extended 5 years warranty or the 3 years in your package? Is your Rear Sensors the Honda brand or off market brand? Just that when I went to buy my car, the dealer initially tried to put the off market sensor in the car but I asked him for the Honda ones
Thanks
