I've seen it written time and again the s2000 isn't the fastest in a straight line or round the corners but overall it's been in the top 10 car choices many many times over the last 14 yrs.
It's about enjoying driving top down, vtec, rear wheel drive, stiff chassis, excellent road feedback, great turn in etc etc. It isn't perfect but tell me another car sub 60k that does all this any better? I want a car that I have to drive not a car with a computer that takes control.
I've had v8s,turbo sixes,4x4, 5cyl turbo, been in a 950hp gtr but nothing compares to a run thru the twisties with the top down listening to the vtec sing. (Unless it was an s2000 turbo or SC) :)
