bonnet scratches

so i tried to clean the car with some stuff i found in the laundry
had some meguairs stuff that i bought n foudn that my dad had som cut n polish stuff so i thought id use it,
put a dab of it on my bonnet n it was really coarse, i thought it just my be the way the stuff worked so i rub it into the bonnet n use some wax afterwards.
the bonnet was smooth as but now in the dark it looks mad misty and in the sun you can actually see little fine scratch swirls.
does anyone know how to get this out?
i was going to go the blue wax( have a blue car) and try that or get a clay bar use that then wax n polish?

any ideas are welcome

try a cream wax you need a softer wax to get rid of the fine swirls.
The liquid waxes also work well on those

i tried my wet look wax but didnt do nothing for it
that was sorta creamy?

if you use a cut. you need to polish it afterwards otherwise it wil be ruff with the swirls u speak of. so get some polishing wax and try that. i use kitten.

also. you might have used too coarse of a cutting compound.... go buy a thinner compound in future reference. especially if your using it on a fairly fresh/new paint job

coz i used the kitten cut n polish n then the bonnet went all misty so thought damn damn...
and chucked on the wet look wax and it didnt do anything
ive since thrown out the cut n polish.
so i should use a polish wax on it now?
not polish then wax?
after reading some of the other forums scratchX seems the go?

dunno try one of the Mother's brand, they make good stuff

this might be dumb thing to say. but after u put the cutting compound on did you wipe it off with another soft towel??? because its after that stage i use kitten polishing wax. i think its both polish and wax at once....

i wouldnt recomend cutting too many times. remember its cutting layers of paint. next time(because uv cut it this time) u should just(after a nice wash) polish and wax!!

Hmm for the scratches maybe some scratchx may help.

yeah i did try to wipe it off with a microfibre wipe,
so after a wash ill just use some cream wax

Don't use those kitten liquid cut and polish crap. It damages the clearcoat and turns it misty. Using laundry cloth doesn't help either.

In the short term, use ScratchX with a cotton applicator. Buff off with a microfibre buffing towel.

Do you have any wax or sealant lying around? The non-cutting non-polishing type. Use that after you use scratchX.
