Hey guys I need help with this.
Oil is leaking as you can see in the pic. I'm guessing the rear engine seal needs replacing ? not sure Is this easy to fix yourself ? Or approx just roughly how much would mechanic charge.

But your real problem is lower down on your engine bro'. Looks like its losing oil from your head gasket area. Not too easy to do for an inexperienced person (+ you need to get the head machined), but should be a good learning experience provided you have the tools. Mechanic will charge you a lot.
Why do you think the rear seal is leaking? You would't be able to see it anyway in the pic anyway.
More info please. When did it start? Have you checked your temperature guage lately? Is the car slow to start? Have you lost coolant? Is the coolant in the radiator milky and oily?
It looks like a substantial leak. If you haven't taken apart a head before, and u don't have any mates with experience, get some quotes from a few mechanics. Prices will vary, so shop around. Headgasket woes can cost hundreds.
The temp is fine, yeah there is coolant dripping also but not badly. The pic shown is just where I noticed the leak from im not 100% sure if its rear engine seal thats why i posted here. Nah oil isn't leaking from lower down the engine just from at the top of where the leak is.

hey mate, its hard to tell exactly where an oil leak is coming from based on a picture but a sure way to find it yourself is to degrease the engine and use compressed air to remove excess water, or just run your engine for a while. Then use talkum powder to powder around the areas where you are suspecting the leak to be coming from, this usually allows you to pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from so you can point it out to your mechanic and it'll save you money beacuse they won't have to spend too much time diagnosing the problem. In regards to costs, different mechanics charge different rates based on how long it takes to diagnose the problem, how hard it'll be to fix, what parts are needed to fix it and how much labour is involved.

I meant lower down than the tappet cover (rocker cover). It's obviously coming from the front part of the head gasket area, I can't imagine what else it could be.Quote:

looks like its leaking from inbetween the head and the block and that could only mean headgasket. has it ever overheated on you before?
Once, when i hit vtec and then parked up (while car was still on) there was abit of smoke comming from engine but have since replaced coolant fluids and everything seem's fine

Thought this was interesting proberly just a short term fix, although dont blownheads usually have white smoke comming out from muffler ? My car seem's to be running fine.

Taken it to a shop yet? Get some professional quotes, they will be free and you'll have a definite diagnosis of your problems.
