Based on a 200km motor
lol
shows how much you know.
200k don't mean shit sherlock
there's hard driven, easy driven, short distance driven, one long straight trip melb to perth.
all of these factors have more importance than the single fact it has traveled 200k on the clock.
go back to school little boy. stop being so butthurt. you'll just embarrass yourself further....
200k on a dc5 well should be sure its been driven long distance no?
Clown
LOL 10/10 advice here
3-5k... Wait... 3k? What do you do? Amatuer racing? Honestly...
Anyway dc5_dave, if you do lots of short trips, try to make sure you heat the engine oil and work the engine appropriately and as much as you can, it does affect engine performance and longevity [Am NOT suggesting VTC24/7 noe wat I sayin'].
Your service intervals since your car isn't fresh anymore depends on its state of health and how much you want to look after your car [And your wallet too].
How does your oil look after each of its previous intervals? Is it darker than it should be? Is it more consistent with water? Does it have a weird smell [Burnt, Petrol, etc?]
Being dirty is actually fine, it just means your engine isn't as clean or efficient as it was out of the factory however if you notice its much darker, might pay to shorten your intervals.
If the oil becomes more like water compared to the new oil [NB: Different viscosity flows differently, sounds stupid but people miss this a lot] again shorten your intervals because your engine running on effectively not oil.
If the oil has a smell to it, if its a burnt smell could suggest shorter intervals, if others like petrol etc then you have issues of petrol getting into your oil [Think gaskets and others].
