Oil coolers! whats hot and whats not?

Contemplating on installing an oil cooler in my car and was just wondering what would be some of the better brands out there? i have seen just jap selling some oil coolers at very affordable prices at 89 bucks! 19 row!! has anyone had any experience with these coolers? do they crack??

Also just curious when it comes time to changing oil how does one go out fully flushing out the old oil in the cooler system? would u have to remove the cooler and empty it all out?

I got one before. You just have to watch the connectors don't leak. I'm almost never heard of a cool cracking unless they have been hit. P.S you will need a sandwich plate of sorts, and if you pic a really big cooler look out for a thermostat to ensure that you don't run too cool.

Oil changes as usual, you can't get the oil out of the cooler its one of this things you live with. BUt on a point i think that you could put a small sump hole in the cooler and that might let you release the oil, just a thought but i've never seen or heard of anyone trying it.

the oly thing is get good braded lines and good connectros the only thing to looks out for is leaks
cheap kit will leak
whiel your there you might as well get a filter relocation kit amke it easyer for oil changes

if we buy the cooler on its own, where to get the rest of the stuff (hoses, adaptor, filter relocation kit)???

i have a 14row oil cooler with remote oil filter relocation, braided lines and adonised fittings on a turbo setup. set me back 850bux. so i guess thats pretty cheap, but i wouldnt be going too big because its harder to conceal.

places like ENZED and pirtek sell all fittings and lines. pretty much walk in with your cooler and what not, and they should tell you what you need. much much cheaper to buy as a kit though

damn... that must be very good oil cooler

what are your oil temperatures during extended hard driving? How much do they relate to the optimal temp range of the oil you're using?

If you can't answer both of those questions, don't buy an oil cooler.

IMO id install a oil sump baffle before venturing on a questionable "mostly street car" mod.

having the oil too cold is just as bad as it being too hot... there's an optimal range it needs to be in, and just throwing an oil cooler on can very easily cool it off too much
