can i run premium unleaded in my 96 cxi???
yes la!
you can run high octane 98 fuel also very good for the car ;)
yesm!
You can run 98 if you want. But don't run 100 octane as Honda says that only their cars made after 2002 are compatible.
so what about 98 + those lil octane booster bottles??? or are those rubbish?
dont bother mate, waste of money IMO. You're supposed to use em for a while before they work as well.
^correctism!

if you dont change your ignition timing, this means that you are delaying peak cylinder pressure, resulting in the explosion not occuring when the piston is at TDC, meaning you will LOSE POWER.
if however you advance your timing, you will reap the benefits of using this fuel, and the additional air going in, and find that you have MORE power.
98 octane might be good to keep things 'clean', perhaps, but that being said itd only be worth running one tank of it every now and then.
in summary...98 octane on its own = silly, less power
98 octane + advanced timing = more power.
nb...some ecu's are able to automatically advance the timing when higher octane fuel is present, eg newer holder v8's, and this explains why people have dyno sheets to 'prove' that higher octane fuel gives more power - theyre right, theyre just missing the fact that the timing has been adjusted
mr will, where in limbos post did it say that 98 octane fuel produces more power??
he meerly said its good for the car man.
stop jumpin the gun and absorb wats being typed up, rather than go off on ur own tangent.
