when sitting at the lights or sitting in traffic car starts to overheat but only sometimes.. It generally happens during the day never night and when i have my H.I.D on in late arvo the temp tends to rise.. I have a feeling it is an electrical problem.
To date i have done a radiator flush, changed thermostat cant seem to work out problem .... could it be that my fan isnt getting enough power because of the H.I.D , any help would be appricated.
it could be that your radiator is rusted inside and not cooling properly.
anyway to determine if the radiator is fcuked ? what about thermoswitch???
Firstly, your HID's wouldnt have anything to do with this im assuming,
wait till your car has cooled down.. then flush the radiator fluid out and put just plain water in do this a couple of times twice maybe..
then put coolant in
Check for any loose connections from ur radiator that may be leaking slowly
overnight or somthing,
if that doesnt solve your problem get your waterpump checked.
one more thing
is the fan turning on?
if it doesnt then it's your fan switch or thermo stat, if it all turns on n that
then its most likely the radiator
just get a new one its cheaper
thermo stat will operate..normally.
but since the radiator is rusted internally..
it wll not function properly..
to visually check..
u can see rust water inside your radiator.
even though u mayhave flushed it..
the rust water will grow and your coolant colour will got brown
its wierd though, the water is not brown , when i turn my headlights off the temp drops thats why i thought i may be an electrical problem. like the hid are zapping the power from the fan and its spinning too slowley and its not leaking the coolant levels have hardly dropped, thank you for all the help
check ur battery? maybe its not producing enough power to power everything?
check all the hoses to be sure that ur not leaking anything
Battery creates power? Lol, you mean Alternator!! Check both of them though. Make sure the fan is connected so it turns on.Quote:

water pump was checked when did timing belt not that long ago , did a full radiator flush and flushed water through engine with radiaor hoses disconnected , no rust or brown water. Changed thermostat. Fan does come on but takes a long time .. is it time for new radiator.

what hid components are you using? A proper set up should draw less power than your oem halogen lights, so it shouldn't be a problem, however, with most cheap aftermarket hid set ups, the ballasts are known to do all sort of funky things.
Do you have them wired directly to the stock wiring or via a relayed wiring harness?
