Honda CRX, 1.6L DOHC - ZC (JDM) 1989?

Hey there guy's.
I have been tossing up between getting a CRX or a Civic as my first car. Not sure.
But I have recently spotted a Rather Nice 1989 Honda CRX 5SPD with the 1.6L DOHC - ZC (JDM) motor.
How do these Motors go? 0-100 times? What do they compare with?
Car only has 105,000k's

Now the car has been imported from Japan. Car is Immac, The guy wants $9000 but he said I might be able to knock him to down to $7500 without Rims.
How much should I be paying for something like this?
Would this be a good first car for me? Are the prone to problems?

thats the same engine in the civic si's.
the si and the vti are the same on paper, except the vti is 1nm more then the si.
but thats a maximum torque.
many people like the zc engine, equal band from low rpm to higher rpm. where as few people say the vti sluggers untlil it hits vtec.
both engine provide a differant feeel. the vti has more aftermarket parts.
the dohc non vtec has a better response to turbo.

I heard the ZC had slightly more power, and were not released in aus

^^135-140 ps to be exact for the JDM ZC as opposed to the aussie D16 DOHC's 130bhp. It's about 3 bhp difference when calculated out. A lot of errors come from people expecting ps to = bhp, which it doesn't.

Honestly? Having owned a JDM car, I can say get the AUDM version from the parts side unless it's a JDM glasstop or SiR

Be careful that some insururers also shy away from imports.

it doesn't sounds like it's worth that much.. crx's do tend to hold their value more than civics, as it's hondas "Civic Racing eXtreme".
not really prone to problems, but since it's old check for rust, chassis flex etc etc.
you'll find that most of the parts are interchangeable with the AUSDM, except for a few exterior and interior parts.
w/o seeing the car i'd say you should be paying $7500 from the beginning.

seems like alot of people have different variations with CR-X

but 1 that takes the cake would be Civic Racing Xperiment.

CRX tend to hold their value because of they're rareness and mind you they were considered the TYPE R's back in their days. (i think the CRX was also once a CAR OF THE YEAR in some magazine in the early 90s)

haha... in the Hot4s CRX Special that yellow CRX has Civic Racing Xperiment on the side and the guys actually called it 'CIVIC RACING EXPERIMENT' :P OK...

Civic Renaissance Model-X i think is the correct term. I've found it somewhere on the JDM Honda website years ago...

if you can get it at 7500 without rims i would say take it and use what you have saved to get all the safety shit done.... imobiliser fitted and timing belt job done
