WARNING! Thick rear sway bars on the Euro

Just got this from tsx.acurazine.com. A member snapped his swaybar mounting point on his CL9! He was using a 22mm comptech RSB with ESP poly bushings (Comptech RSB used to come with softer rubber bushings)

Is this a common thing for the euro? Is the mount connected directly to the subframe?

How long did he have it installed? oops should of read link

beats actual subframe tearout lol.
Still ~maybe a ASR brace for accords is in thew works...

sheesh makes me think about changing back to stock sways...

Nope, this is the first time I've heard of. Usually it's the endlinks that break first. But now Comptech is supplying beefier endlinks with their kits, so the weakest "link" is now the mount.

Terrible!!!! Was thinking of installing the Whiteline 18mm swaybar but having seconds thoughts now. Has anyone install the Whitelin rear swaybar? What's your verdict on it?

Well the 22mm is pretty damn meaty... 18mm should be OK imo.

totally happy with my whiteline 18mm sway bar and this is also the first case I've ever heard of this.

given the euro's lighter weight running an 18mm sway bar shouldn't be a problem on the stock suspension, even less of a problem with after market stiffer coilovers.

I'm not sure if the acurazine member in the states had stock suspension or not? If so the sway bar would be copping the full grunt of the body roll without stiffer springs to help it out.

He said he had it for 2.5 years though so he might not have had the reinforced endlinks, yet still had this problem?

edit: just read he has tanabe coilovers looks like the 22mm sway bar and firm polyurethane mounts are a no no

im curious as to how they will fix it. does this require welding much like a civic subframe or is the mounting point bolted on so just a case of replcament?

Whiteline's 18mm is ok. I have that. No problems other than having to grease the bushings every 6 months.
