In the past week I have had the engine light (yellow light) come on as I am driving. I have stopped turn car off for 10 secs and off I go.. The car seems to be running normally. Have done an ECU check n no codes. Recently had new timing belt, crankshaft seals,plugs n gaskets changed as well as a new waterpump.
Any clues as to wat this could be. also the car seems to stall sometimes at the lights..
u have to check the ECU for codes when the engine light is on...
Mine used to come on every now and again without affecting the cars performance.. was always the o2 sensor so i ignored it :P
Ok sorry if this sounds dumb but. doesnt the engine have to be off to check the ECu. wouldn't I have to turn the car off n bridge the plug straight after the light comes on. :confused: :confused:
there is a thread here somewhere that will help you find out how to check this, in the passenger footwell, there should be a small connector that you short out and the engine check light will flash the codes to say whats wrong
depends what model DA9 you have..
if its a 89-91 it is most likely OBD0 - the ECU will have a little red LED light flashing once you lift up the carpet..
if its 92-93 it would most likely OBD1 and thats where you have to short out the small connector

The earlier one you pull up the passenger side carpet, turn the key to the 'ON' position without starting the car and look at the LED light under the carpet
One blink is ok
Long blink = 10
Short blink = 1
Long pause = another code
It will keep throwing codes over and over and over again.... So keep writing them down until you see a pattern
Newer one is more of the same, bring that connection and the codes will come through the CEL on the dashboard
Write them all down and come back here
Example
LONG LONG SHORT SHORT = 22
LONG LONG LONG SHORT ... LONG LONG SHOT = 31 and 21
etc etc
Thanks for the help.. Will Lift up the carpet n look for the led as i have a late 90's model. no wonder i coulndt see it on the dash duhhh... Thanks again
Ok I get a code 43.(four long bleeps and three short ones) which is fuel system..
Any clues how to fix this...
Try changing your fuel filter and cleaning injectors
what drew said.
unless of course you know when the fuel filter was last changed.
its pretty easy and wont hurt to do anyways.
are you using ethanol by any chance?
^^ Sometimes i use the ethanol or the normal unleaded one. i started using premium but got no vtec so went back to normal and the ethanol one n normal unleaded i switch between them two as most of the time i just pick up the yellow pump.. but i think they have changed the colours around now.Quote:

check your oxygen sensor.
could be old and faulty. ( lazy )
