Doesn't do anything except increase the bling factor. For a VTEC controller to have any gains, it would have to be used together with tuning. Something like the VAFC would be better and still let you change your VTEC point.
no point using them. Honda have put heaps of r+d into where the vtec engangment should be. It is set at the x amount of revs because that is where it is most utilised and maximum performance output. I think on a stock car you can acually loose power correct me if im wrong!
Second that, on a stock vtec motor, you will MORE than likely LOOSE power no matter where you set it.
Ur vtec will not engage as "agressively" (loosely used on a SOHC) if you set it to a lower RPM and it will be too late if you set it to a higher RPM.
Definately not something you should F around with on a stock engine!
Ok. No one has positive experience with this stuff.
thanks guys.
well on SOHC vtec kicks in on much lower RPM .. guess arround 2000 ish to 3000 ish .. much different than on DOHC which i think arround 5000 ish...
Better of getting VAFC for bling factor ROFL...
better off saving ur money and selling the d16 and putting in some more $$$ and get a b16 in ther, will be lots of fun, and u def wont regret it
This is not true...the VTEC engagement in D16Y SOHC VTEC engine is still around 5500-5600 rpm...
i have a D16Y1 (SOHC VTEC) engine with very mild mods (I/H/E), and uses VAFC (tuned) to have better air/fuel ratio...
so r u going to get engine conversion soon?
note: D16 SOHC VTEC > D17 SOHC non-VTEC
>.< my F22B vtec kicks on at 3200 somewhere arround there... stock with VAFC un tune (ie. by looking at the light :)) .. well flat footed though...
I did Hooked up with VAFC2 few years back, pretty nice gadgets increase 15ish hp on wheels from tune with I/H/E mods.
but now run different set up .. and letting the vtec engagement to be stock for turbo .. =.=
Sums up, well i guess different engine has different vtec kick in style :p
lol, i VERY much dought it
stock for stock, the d17 will more than definetley give the d16 SOHC a run and a half
and no, im not getting an engine conversion for 2 reasons syd, which i think u already know
1. i dont plan on modding the engine AT ALL, coz i think thers no point
2. the only engine conversion that is available to me is a k20 or k24 transplant and that will cost MUCH MUCH more than a b16 into an eg
why is a k series the only option?
