basicaly they let your engine head breath easier and smoother.. by polishing air can flow thro a lot faster and porting obviously alows a larger amound to go thro,, for a na car its a good thing to do. i think your looking around 700buks mark to do it, if u bring the head to the shop
That's cheap! How much would a d-series cost,in Queensland?
I have some great pics I'll get up soon of P&P work.Never had it done but it looks like it would greatly improve air flow.
Should port match the intake manifold and maybe put a bigger throttle body on aswell.
so what all mechanics do it? also bigger throttle body ? where can i get that from is there any after market throttle body for s2k?
larger TB for S2000's are rather pricey.
I advise searching S2ki.com for more info :)
most of your questions are kinda generic. search on the s2000 forum will help out alot.
As far as aftermarket Throttle bodies go you can buy a spoon TB which is like 700 bucks. From memory i think its a 70mm tappered down into a 64mm. Reason for this is to increase the speed of air flow hence better throttle response. From what i have looked up you can also use throttle bodies from a b series engine which is generally alot cheaper as it doesnt come with the 's2k' price tag lol. BDL is another brand you can look into.
imo, before you go PNP your head id recommend doing all the basic mods first such as i/h/e + final drive. These would probably be sufficient in making the S more fun to drive. I would also recommend considering going for a an actual tunable ecu (not the vafc crap or emanage stuff)
I wouldnt bother PNP at all. Its pretty much perfect from stock and i seriously doubt you'll find a mech in AU who can improve on it. Throttle bodies look good, sound great, are illegal in most states and need some serious tunning. Like fly said slapping these things on a stock engine is pretty much a waste of time. i/h/e/+ final drive and a higher compression should do you nicely and a decent ECU (hondata/motec) after all that you wont even think about PNP or TB.
You have to check out if it will be beneficial to you or not.Need to do some research into your particular application.Doing the other mods first is a must.I think you will find you should change the cam b4 you get P&P work done.
Here's some pics of P&P work on a d-series head:

Bezza that looks very pretty, but this is an F20C not a d series or a b series where there is ample room for improvment. After 8 years of the car being around the only ppl who even look at PNP are those with 2.5 ltr kits and even they find very little improvement if any. Its not commonly done because there is no real benifit. Like i said, in this aspect its pretty much perfect from stock. There are other areas to improve on.
Yeah,I'm not sure about this engine.Just thought I'd share some pics of a P&P job :)
But after all the bolt on's,valvetrain (cam, cam gear, springs and retainers) are done wouldn't you still see benefit from a P&P?
As long as you get a dyno tune after offcoarse.
well even after all the above are done... i dont really think there would be a point in p&p, as we've all pretty much stated, the engines already at its potential in that particular area, its not even close to that of a dseries and what gains you would get from a p&p of that.
where in sydney can i get my final drive done? and how much would it cost roughly i got a full toda exhaust system coming in already next to come is cams and ecu
