Hi everyone, I was interested to find out whether you have any knowledge about the diagnostic computer Honda uses during servicing?
Is the computer able to adjust car settings?
I am finding that after this initial service the overall performance of may car seems to be more sluggish than prior to the servicing? Has one one else had a similar experience after the initial servicing?
The Honda Diag computer mainly looks for faults and does any firmware updates for the ECU. As far I as I amware its not tunable like you can do with an aftermarket ECU.
I know when I was in the dealership it was used for just doing that.
Don't know if anyone remembers the BA XR6 Turbo getting a boost cut, to slow down warranty claims on gearboxes and diff's all to do with the ECU firmware.

Yes, I have to agree with you there. Most of my driving has been city driving. I have only managed to get on the freeway a couple of times. However, I notice the car's performance is much better at higher constant speeds rather than accelerating and stopping at traffic lights.
If I think things are not improving maybe shadou can have a test drive one day and tell me what he thinks. I dont live far from Mitcham.
worse comes to worse if its not a legit issue and you think its slow change your headers/extractors it'll make a big diff to stock.Quote:

Thanks for the advice. I thought it was not recommended to red line it until the car was more broken in ie around the 5000km mark.Quote:

But yeah beyond that, the car does accelerate smoother after the sludgy deteriorated 10,000km oil gets replaced.
I let mum's euro get to about 100kms before the first redline.
To give you an example we had N16 loan cars at work. I got one brand new, one of the sales manager had another and a chick in service had another. I wasn't light footed, the salesman had an even heavier foot and the service chick was gentle.
Yes there was a different in how they all went. The salesman one was the quickest and the sevice chicks the slowest.
As I said don't redline it everywhere just every now and then and you will have a better car. Mum's is at 85,000kms now and no mechanical probs, is great on fuel, goes well and is happy to go to 7500rpm :)
