Theres an editing period set by the admins, i believe its set to 1 month.
You will need to pm a mod to rename or create a new thread.
As above.
just to note, PM a moderator of that subforum to edit your title.
or a supermod !
whats the reason behind this???
It's the option set by the admin.
You have time to edit , then if you require to update please pm a moderator of that forum to update it for you.
Closed
well
1. you havent closed the thread
2. it would be nice if you could leave it open (instead of just closing the threads so quickly) just in case i have a question like the following:
the question presented is WHY has it been set up like that.. not WHO set it up, and does it really cause any harm in removing that 1month period ?
thanks
zco, I set it up like that.
If the thread title cannot be settled on within 1 month of creation then the OP needs to look at why he/she keeps changing it. Remember this applies to ALL forums.
ohh okay, how about if they prefer to keep the same thread, and add new things, things get sold in the future, and thread titles need to be changed. the question is, would you prefer us to close the old thread, and create a new one ? in that way, would it help tidy up the forum as you would know which to delete when you do the clean up ?
i didnt even realise it applied to all forums, but whilst we're on that note, OP's could change their titles in the build section or appearance section of a thread of their own car that may suggest they have updated mods or new pics added, updates on car builds or pictures added.. these all can take longer than a month, and i guess would need to have updates. they could pm the relevant mods, but mods have their own lives to run instead of sit on the forums all day, and hence may lag in some replies.. some food for thought :)
Easy enough for a member to pm a mod IF they require updating their thread.
T Zco and everyone
If you require a thrad title updated AFTER 1 month - Pm a moderator with a link to your thread you wish updated , and also the title requested.
Easiest way around this I found is to close the thread yourself and start a new one. Just before you close it, copy content and just paste in new one.
We decided awhile ago to put a time limit on this......I can't remember why exactly it was.
Will bring it up with the other mods and see if we should lift the time limit ta.
Quick update...........we've disabled the time limit on editing thread titles so now you longer have to PM a moderator to update your thread (even after 30+ days).
Yay! always wanted this... now for that shorter pm/search time delay...
The PM delay has already been shortened by one third of the original delay. And seriously, if you can manage to read and write a reply to one PM within 60secs of replying to a previous one, then you should either:
a/ spellcheck;
b/ put more thought into your PM; and if all else fails,
c/ use MSN
If you have completed a/ and b/ and still haven't reached the 60sec delay, then close your eyes and take a deep breath. Now click "send".
^ As above :)
That said I am looking into possibly moving to a dedicated server. Which means we might be able to play around with the search frequency delay value and look at its effects on system resources. Don't hold your breath though because if/when we do move....there will be a lot of other things Id have to sort out first!
It takes effect for threads created after the change
Well that sort of defeats the purpose of changing it.. If he needed to mke a new thread to change the title Wyn may as well have not changed anything
Well now i can, wasnt working when i posted that cheers
thanks wynode. i think this will make forum'ing quicker and more efficient. takes workload off mods like qball which ive been hassling him about. thanks guys
