have a look at that, personally id go for the Fujitsubo RM01A popular exhaust, sounds great not too loud and decent gains
other people would probably help you out more with the gains side of things =D goodluck
This is like your 5th thread bro just on exhausts

and hardly getting any help
Powergetter by fujistubo... I wouldnt bother with an rm01a..
Dont get the spoon n1.
Mugen Twin loop.
It's all pretty much personal preference. The difference in gains is minimal, most will give around similar gains, some will just be worse.
Both are good, Spoon N1 looks close to stock though but its bloody LOUD!
Agreed, subtle and sounds great... Cost for some out of reach..
I have an X-Force Straight system (With Cat) to a 4 Inch Cannon, surprinsly not to loud, didn't pay a large amount of $$$.. Clearance isnt to bad either
Fujitsubo PowerGetter sounds really good. Not overly loud and has a nice deep tone
there is a lot of available info with a quick search without the need to make so many new threads like "what coilover is best, which gives most gains" etcetc. You should do this first to avoid any "noob flaming", catbacks are a taste modification in terms of looks and sound, look at videos and make your decision...
Exactly what I did for 6months, just look on youtube at what exhaust sounds awesome to me. Then read reviews, then called people.
Then I found out that the Exhaust is rare to be a second hand one, or if you want brand new its way too much $$$$.
BUT one day it popped up and I bought it.
So its your taste and not others, whichever quality prefab exhaust sounds good to you then get it. And what M@lew said is correct "The difference in gains is minimal". So all exhausts will give you near the same gains.
Good luck and start searching :p
If youre looking for power, the exhaust with the least amount of bends in it will provide the best flow. Look at pictures to determine this. Ive got a Js Racing 60RS on my DC5R, I love it but it wasnt cheap... Exhaust diameter is also important depending on the application. You see some clowns with 3"+ catbacks on an otherwise stock car. Its overkill for an NA 2L 4cyl. In my opinion 2.25-2.5" is optimal. You should also view catback upgrades as only part of the package.
Power is hard to come by on NA cars, and can often be expensive for the gains compared to your turbo imports. You should aim to couple your new catback with a less restrictive header and cat as well. Adding a less restrictive catback wont help exhaust flow a great deal if it is being restricted by the header.
I personally like the Skunk2 megapower on the DC5. Has a real nice unique sounds. As others have said, its mostly a personal preference. Check this shizzle out, but it will all sound similar after a while lolz

Hey man , to give u the hands down don't go Fujitsubo power getter you are basically downgrading power for a bit of noise in other words your losing power man, id go toda 3 inch for best flow and best sound , or J's racing, my recent dc5r had custom headers and a fujitsubo rm01a catback... it gave a very nice note but in my opinion it just wasnt loud enough... but where all different , an even nicer option would go get yourself a Kakimoto, Kakimoto R muffler and get custom 3 inch piping with hi flow cat... that with a good set of headers sounds amazing... and great gains... search up more and make sure before you choose make sure it is dyno proven.. if you go anything toda make sure you give adrian from toda performance a call his always there to help and you may be able to get a good price.. also about the 3 inch its actually dyno proven that the k series loves the 3 inch over the 2.5inch and in america there actually using 4 inch piping for even better air flow .. k series in many aspects is different from b series and several myths just dont follow along from b to k ..
^^ very true about the larger piping diameter. Spoon n1 the actual tip is smaller than ur dc5r tip but it is quite a loud offtheshelf exhaust. I love the pops and backfires on changing gears:)
Heres mine, altjough short, you can definately here my exhaust :) injen intake-toda header- toda hi flo
Cat-spoon n1 catbacl

Sounds nice man. Good collection of parts. In my opinion the header makes all the difference to the exhaust note. Makes it sound meaner. I have a buddyclub race header (cat delete) and 2.5" Js Racing 60RS catback with a tuned kpro and it crackles and pops when I change gears. Sets off car alarms in carparks too ;)
when you say the best how much money do you have
there companies that make titanium exhausts that are over 2k
no rates them because no one has bought one on here
Custom made exhaust from Performance Exhaust Center.
All I can say is if your gonna get headers than dont' use anything else than Kidd Racing Headers, best bang for your buck then any other headers on the market guaranteed!! Toda Racing recommend these headers as well
J's Racing 70RR nuff said.
Next item on my list.
Lol you wont last a week without a defect with a 70RR.
Let alone a 60RR
Amuse r1 titan!! ;)
in regards to 70RR, do police even check if it's a header back?
AND.. I think this goes with all Honda's but changing a catback won't do too much in terms of power difference.
I think that in terms of 'best' exhaust something light, such as the titanium Amuse exhausts would be good.
But that's paying like $2.5k for some weight reduction and a minute power gain.
If youve got your heart set on a 70rr, be prepared to wait for it. Unless they're in stock, you're looking at a 6+ month wait with the situation in Japan at the moment. Add that to the fact that the modifying scene in Japan is dying and companies are going broke (eg Apexi) and it makes things worse. I waited 5 months for my J's 60RS catback and that was before the earthquake
Yeah but that 2 weeks is probably due to the fact that toda Japan has them in stock, or at least has the materials to make the exhaust in stock.
Js Racing, like many other Japanese tuning companies, are really struggling at the moment. When I ordered my catback, to cut a long story short, J's Japan had none of the mufflers in stock, and that caused a huge delay. They were unable to get the materials for it for ages.
^^^ RR's mean it's a headerback. so it's a straight pipe all the way through.
but he has the 60RS, not 60RR lol :)
The difference between the RS and RR models as dlai said is the muffler. In the RS there is one, in the RR there isn't. There is also no resonator in the RR, but there is in the RS. Im running no cat in my exhaust, and have had flanges put on the resonator so it can be removed whenever I like. At the moment it's out, replaced by a straight pipe.
With no cat and no resonator the exhaust is loud, but not stupid. Take out the muffler and then it'll be crazy loud. Also bear in mind if you run a decat system you're going to have issues with CELs. Only way to guarrantee you won't get a CEL with a decat system is to run a kpro. That's what ive got.
Unless you've got a built engine, I would avoid a 70rr. It'll sound nuts but you're going to lose power because there will be no back pressure in the exhaust, which a cat, resonator and muffler usually provide. If you pm me a mobile number I can mms a sound clip to you.
Why not just get a "custom" 3' exhaust if you don't want to run a cat/resinator/muffler?
I haven't had a custom exhaust made up for a car for a while, but I know most of the money goes to the muffler.
But I would hazard a guess that you could get a good cat back exhuast + 2nd hand Kpro + tune for the same money as the 70rr... plus 2 or so extra months.
^^^
that's what I did. The K-pro + tune is the really the only way to go with modding the DC5R. It definitely has much more of a change in power then such an expensive exhaust :)
Ask Nuci... he paid top dollar for his exhaust, and it wasn't a "perfect" fit, there was even thought that it was a fake.
Sure, I'm all for branded parts, and I am also a big believer in "You get what you pay for"... but $2.5k for a CAT BACK exhaust... with no resonator or muffler (The two parts that cost the most in a cat back exhaust)... come on, that's just retarded, especially for a street car. You are basically paying for a titanium pipe, which is going to be end up being illegal (Due to noise). It'll save weight over other metals, but if you spent the same money on K-Pro & Tune or Decent rims & tyres or even a full exhaust system and intake, you would see better results.
I know I'll be getting a custom 3' exhaust once I've got the K24 fitted, because I know LOTS of people have got great results with that sized exhaust when putting a K24 into… well… anything.
Good suspension will cost a lot more then a 2.5k catback :p A non built non tuned motor as mentioned by 45SET will see very little in the way of gains from just catback, i only saw a 4kwatw increase in peak kw with a powergetter and header with a 200 cell cat, also ended up running a lot richer in the process. The only thing you are assured of with an aftermarket VS custom exhaust is the exhaust sound which why i went powergetter (also got a great price :))
dont forget an expensive suspension wont make u automatically quick
out on track i've seen stock cars embarass drivers with $5k+ suspension setups
but anyway plz dont waste ur money on a 2.5k catback. you will regret it when u grow up
I have one of these 2.5k exhausts that you guys speak of, I got a muffler with mine though, makes it pretty quiet. I liked it so much I bought another similar exhaust as a garage ornament. Anyone at Honda Nationals is welcome to compare the performance of my overpriced junk with their own DC5 :p.
I don't regret it. Maybe I had already grown up before I purchased it.
But...
What suspension are you running?
What rims are you running?
What tyres are you running?
What do you use the car for?
What ECU do you have?
The users on this forum that can answer these questions know that your exhaust is warranted.
I read Watajk's build thread earlier today
Tossing up if he should get Buddyclub N+ or Tein Monoflex coilovers
Running VS-XX (Or simular)
Couldn’t find any specs
Mostly road use with "possible" Track use
OEM ECU
You can see that a $2.5k cat back exhaust isn't exactly... the best next move.
Watajk: This isn’t an attack at you, or the mods you have performed to your car, just using it as an example.
True. And honestly I don't think the Amuse R1 or the J's 70RR or anything similar are the best exhausts for the DC5 by anyone's definition. Beautifully made and a good sound along with very light weight but not perfect. For street use I would prefer a stainless 3" with a few mufflers in it, for track a 70mm titanium straight pipe. Although this wouldn't be acceptable at CAMS events that require a muffler, but it would be fun until you got black flagged.
Can anyone recommend their preferred exhaust fabricators? I think a lot of the bias against custom work comes from people going to their local crappy muffler shop and being disappointed. There is no reason a local welder can't make something just as high quality as the JDM stuff.
I have done somewhere around 60-70,000kms since I put my Amuse exhaust on, you're right though I hardly drive it these days :(.
All exhausts, basically the same thing on a Honda. You probably have a difference of around 5kw between all of them!
Unless you went Forced Induction, then you would want to invest in some hectic exhaust. Also, imo... the tuning is the most important to get the most out of your exhausts, you can buy an Amuse R1, and I'll keep my power getter, and run my kpro again, pretty sure my dc5 would be much better more responsive :)
There is some guy selling 3 K-Pro's over on ClubITR...
*COUGH COUGH*
The DC5 one is already sold though ;)
I have a tuned Kpro, and from my experience, it is THE BEST modification for a K-series engine. Anyone who has one will agree with me. If you spend 2.5k on an exhaust without a Kpro, you're more or less spending 2.5k for a better sound, not much more. And at the end of the day you make mods with the intention of making the car better don't you? If all you want is a nice sound, most exhaust/header combos will provide that. Don't need to spend a fortune doing it. The people on here who actually OWN DC5s are talking from their own experiences, you should use it to your advantage.
how much can i get a k-pro for? brand new
Personally i've always loved the buddy club pro spec 2, but some people find it a tad loud.
