Tested Kumho KU36 on track

For people looking for review of the KU36:

I took the KU36s to Wakefield Park yesterday
and created my new "street tyre" PB 1:13.20
only 1.5sec slower than my semi slick PB

Pros: Fast reaction, stable in corner, plenty of grip once they reach ~38-40psi hot, and PRICE!!! :biggrin:
Cons: Longer Braking distance compare to semis

FYI:
Car: Honda Integra Type R (DC2)
Tyre: Kumho KU36 205/50R15
Running 40psi HOT all around
Laptimer: AiM MyChron Light TG

Just wondering (only started noticed recently)

Do u feel the sidewalls flexing? If i try around a corner, theres a weird feeling that it flexes. Im using 16X7 wheels with 215/45/16 ku36's

I checked the tires before they were fitted and the sidewall are thin as compared to the Re001's

yeah...

next time try a bit more at the rear
becos front will heat up alot faster than rear

There a great tyre for the price. Mate has them on his evo 8 and manage a 1.09.5 at WP.

Ive read that the sidewalls in this tyre arnt on par as the rest of it. The general feeling is that the turn in feels a bit sloppy but then grips. Essentially, its still gripping when turning, just the feedback (due to lack of sidewall stiffness) is not there.

Its fair because essentially this is still a street tire with a tread wear rating of 180, so you cant always have everything for a good price.

I tested them on track and got 4 seconds faster than my hankook k105.
Good quality tyre and i ran them at 38 psi hot all round.

4 seconds means you were doing something wrong with other tyres

K105s are very average street tyres anyway

hmm 16s are cheaper in the ku36!

Better then the neova and bridgestones?

Kumho vs bridgestone..not in the same level.

KU36 IMO just back for bucks...sidewall pretty soft.

I choose RE001 over KU36 personaly choice only.

Legend... So getting the 215/45's

random stupid weird question... do these tyres have rim protectors? (ie: bit of rubber strip around tyre to prevent gutter rash, and stone chips on rim.)
