Hi all, I'm looking at doing a brake conversion in the near future for my 94 eg and was wondering what experience/ suggestions you fellas had on the topic in relation to high performance for time attack, preferably the cheaper (although not shittier) options...

Item 1.
Get race pads. Should consider upgrading brake booster and brake master cylinder (at least do some research to see if your OEM ones will get the job done or not, but I doubt it).
Braided brake lines would be nice too.
First, what sort of power do you intend to get from your engine?
That will determine what you need for brakes.
If you're going high power - then you would really want to consider running bigger rims and bigger brakes.
282 ROTORS, ITR Callipers and Ferodo DS2500 Pads would be enough I reckon
what if hes running a D16 motor.. i doubt he'd need itr calipers n rotors...

like wise if he's got a supercharged 350kw K whatever, ITR calipers and rotors aren't going to cut it.
cheapest option would be ek4/eg6 hubs with redrilled 282 rotors with type r callipers(good pads), then the dc2r brake booster and master cylinder, and then good tyres.
if that dosnt cut it spoon callipers are awesome and use the same pad as the dc2r
wider stickier tyres
make sure your tyres are good and allignment/ pressures allow maximum tread contact for what the car is used for, alot of people overlook this and there is many a second to gain from a proper allignment and set pressures
I'm running an N/A D15 with soon to be improved intake and exhaust. Stock internals, never been on the dyno - I'd say good for 100kw when I've converted intake and exhaust...
i ran 282 with itr rotors when i had a D16 and it was fkn awesome for track.
the standard brakes are fine with the d15.. just upgrade pads
BYPs black eg had a b16a and standard brakes and oem pads and still ran a 1.12.4
at wakey
There is a Wilwood kit which will upgrade you to about 300mm + 4 pot calipers, its only about 600-700 bucks (of course you've got to get it here from America), if you're looking to go bigger than OEM honda. There's also a Nashin kit for similar size, but it doesn't include calipers. Only $550ish from shiftperformance.
Braided brake lines are underrated. They are awesome. I'm running braided lines and EK VTIR brakes (262mm fronts) on stock pads and rotors on my EG sedan and there is about 50mm pedal travel if that, and it pulls up quite quick. I think if I was doing TA though, I'd want more stopping power.
where could I find 282's and how much should I be paying? I assume wrecking or secondhand for itr rotors...
(apart from a kajillion dollars on ebay...)
i can guarantee you wont need 300mm rotors infact youll most likely be locking up especially if youre running street tyres..
Ive been doing time attack for a while and my advice is to head out on the track and get a feel for how the car behaves then make decisions afterwards

If you must go 282mm - Hit JDM yard for pre-drilled rotors.
In terms of calipers, you can also use prelude BB6 calipers.
Ran standard EG6 brakes in IPRA car for full year on Bendix Ultimates. Pads were RS by the end of the year - should have changed them about half way through the season. Other than that, all good.Quote:

imo save ur dough op an just go EK4/DC2 brakes, they are more than enough for any D-series powered car... Tracked mine, mind u i was running y8, with ITR brake setup an qfm pads, its great but not something u need on a car with a d-banger, too under powered an u wont reach speeds of more than 200km/h, if u went boost than its a different story.
Good pads with ek4/dc2 setup is plenty of braking for ur car as others said, stick to whats been proven to work :)
282 brakes and a d15... Big brakes are pretty heavy mate. While you've got the d15 it'd probably be best (for your laptimes) to stick with OEM brakes and just make sure you're running good pads and fluid.

are u having brake issues at the moment? honestly i think u should mod when its needed and honestly a good set of pads, rotors and clean fluid will go a long way

I think I'll just take the car for a run on stockies with new pads and fluids and see how she goes. Just a reminder that this is just prospective and won't be necessary for another 3 months-ish, but cheers for all the knowledge!
Dc2 vtir 262mm is direct bolt on to eg hubs. 282 you need either dc2r or first gen crv hubs
honestly i think you will be fine with your stock system but get some good pads and rotors and if u need you can up grade later, honestly to expect 100kw form this stock car isnt gonna happen even brand new the car was rocking what 75 kw? intake and exhaust wont give you a 25% increase in power over what the car was doing when it was new. i think that honestly this money is beter spent going to more practice track days...... that will give u better times.

In the UK we bolt MG ZR 282 calipers on (EBC blanks were cheap in UK), run prelude calipers with a little shaving and have 282 setup on our 262 hubs. If you can get hold of both those parts any easier then DC2 parts here, maybe try that?
