whats the highest revving s2000 there is out there?
*edit* obviously not stock lol.
9001rpm
9005rpm
>9000rpm
hes prolli just a curious person lol
I'm probably going to be extending mine to about 9,500rpm in the short term future.
Otherwise, I believe the Spoon engine is 10000rpm? however I could be wrong.
Wayne Park ran a slightly modified S2000 in the GTP series a few years ago. Its revlimit was increased to 10,000rpm.
Over nine thousandddd!
rofl fangske, yeah i've seen one 10,000k rpm s2k.. ludecrs i know you know what your talking about when it comes down to this stuff, what kind of work would you be looking at to get it to rev to and above 10,000?
bigger cams think
just get new cluster and thats it
new cluster 10,000rpm redline
plug it in
your engine will know now to rev to 10krpm
true story
Um.... Valves and valve springs would be the first, obviously with cams. A factory engine fitted with cams would only see 10,000rpm a handful of times before a major engine failure. Start thinking more like spending $15K for your engine to rev reliably. Dry sump, cams, valves, valve springs, full engine blue print and rebalance, major head work including porting, injectors. You only need to see what all the major japanese tuners run on there F20c's. Really not worth the effort, $$$ for the power gains.

FYI:
Stock bottom end, stock everything.Quote:
i revved to 11.5-12K , and i blew the engine , yesterday just got my car back after 2 months with brand new engine
i wouldnt goover 9.5K , atleast i m not gonna do that again :)
yep can see something captain
he needed the right cluster
interesting.. i never knew just changing it will actually make it rev to 10k.. where can i pick one of those up? not going to just install that and be a tool and blow my engine im considering doing the other work also.. but all on a maybe because i dont want to have engine failures in the long run of having it..
Changing your cluster won't do anything other than having a dash with 10,000rpm. Ecu makes sure of that!
Dude, if your after more power. Force fed is the way to go. But to play it safe, i'd personally still be changing lots of internal parts. That way massive gains are easily achievable and reliability shouldn't be a problem.
hope fully my car can rev to 10,000 after im done
well thanks guys, its good to know, now i know what is needed =)
Cluster won't do jack.
Replace ECU with an AEM EMS and set the rev limiter as high as you like.
Mind you, above 9.3K you won't make power and you'll probably float valves.
i thort they only made power to 8500? alot of dyno graphs of seen of S2Ks have shown this so why bother reving so hard with a stock motor.
thats the same with alot if not all cars the redline is just a safezone incase of over rev it doesnt mean reving ur car into the redline is were the most power is....
A centrifugal blower makes more boost the higher the revs.
Its only at around 9500rpm where the benefits of more revs cancel out due to the blower being at its maximum spin capacity.
seeing as though we're talking about s2000's and their revs.. hypothetically i forgot my engine was cold.. decided to rev upto 7k without noticing and it cuts off.. how bad would that be for the engine..?
The ECU has a cold start cut off.
Its normal, its just protecting the engine.
i see lol.
8300 is peak power on a stock F20C.
So why does it rev to 9200?
Simple, so that when you change up at redline you are close to max power in the next gear.
ROFL, sif you do that lolol. Mines just yellow with the same rims as mine. and there is no way you can have a better drift car then mine, it snaps side ways in 6th having throttle all the way down lol. we're going to get this thread locked now or wanred for going off topic -.- we'll discuss this tonight lol.
I didnt wanna start a new thread for this and get another warning BUT i just wanted people to see what a stock motor can do in a lighter car. It is an F20C engine but not in an S2000 (just in a lighter car ;) ) So everyone should put their S on a diet haha. Oh and it only rev's out to 9200.

Here's another local and lighter example.
http://www.speedracersportscars.com.au/PRBS2K.htm
I didnt wanna start another thread again for this.. but someone claims an s2000 can go from 0-100 in 2nd gear with no throttle being opened until take off in 8 seconds.
If no one understands that what im trying to say is. Take off in 2nd gear (traveling at 0kmh) and no rev dumping into 2nd either.
Ummm, why?
why? lol im asking if its possible on a complete stock car?
No idea.
I wouldn't start my car in 2nd gear nor would I drive it at 100kph in second.
i wouldnt start mine in second either but but you wouldnt drive your car doing 100 in second? even if it was on track? dont lie i know you would :P
pretty sure 2nd gear can hit 100's most cars can or very close too
and first gear is aroudn 60ish
well mine does 69km/h full redline. 2nd does 103 redline.. (by redline i mean 2 flashes)
