mrk24r is running 4 kicker splits, jl sub and 2 amps and sounds quite good. and im running 2 12's 3 amps 2 splits lol but its abit of over kill something simple is much better.
how did he get 4 splits?
where did he mount them ??
i love my stereo lol
if you love music then its perfect..
im running the rear splits behind my seats they sit just right with a spacer..
hassy
thanks guys.. soo far im looking at rockford set up .. like splits, p2 punch sub and a 4 channel amp .. do guys reckons this is too much?? cos im thinking its a small car and its limited to wat sound i can get out of it
my setup is abit of overkill man. loss of boot space and spare tyre, you would rather go something simple that you can remove the box in an out for the spare tyre and if you want boot space. although theres a back parcel tray behind the roof that will rattle abit with the sub so remove it ;)
yeah thats a nice set up.. im thinking of doing at lifestyle store too..
but for the boot we going to remove the jack etc and they will make a customer box to fit in there soo i still have boot space .. NVD52K .. wat splits do u recommend??
Look at JL Audio.
They have a removable sub and box system made for the s2000.

Good for track days!
are they available in Australia?
try JB hifi, give them the part number see if they can get it
guys my brother is car sound manager at JB HI-FI parra store so ive heard all the brands and i recommend JL audio or Kicker for splits..
im running kicker splits of a JL amp 300/4..
im running a W6 JL Sub of a JL 500/1 amp..
im thinking about running another w6 with another 500/1 amp soon..
just waiting to do the custom install but ill post pics for you guys tomoz or maybe even tonight.
hassy
when your roof is up, look behind your seat and you will see plastic to support the roof when the roof is down there will be like a couple of holes with clips on them you just push the middle hole and the clips come out. that parcel tray im talking about vibrates when you have big bass coming through the spare tyre
I have a few questions:
I want to replace my CD stacker inside my centre console under the wind deflector - what can replace this with direct fit?? - This currently annoys me bcoz oem honda stacker dont have anti-skip with the amount of bumpi-ness on the car.
I want to replace my headunit with this ALPINE iDA-X100 coz i just want purely usb/ipod/cd stacker control but bcoz of its design (has a huge knob/dial in the center), would the S2k center cover shut properly??
Last question is, would modifry DCI work with the above unit?
Cheers.
HAHA
Theres alot more to Car Audio then speakers and subs.
You CAN get bass from good set of splits/co-axials if you do it properly.
My first S2000 had top Range Pioneer HU, Dynamat and JBL 2ohm Splits running off deck. This setup had enough bass to fool people thinking I had a sub due to fact these speakers could play 50-70Hz quite good.
If you putt in a Good brand of splits. 6-7inch, Put something like 100W rms into them, chuck in Dynamat Extreme on the door and inner door. Use Dynazorb sheets. You can get an awesome sound without a Sub.
Ill will be doing my system this way. Then ill show the locals what Im talking about.
I have built many systems over the years without subs. In a Cabin as small as an S2000, there's absolutely no reason you can get alot of bass and punch from speakers. Same way when you buy mini Hifi's from sony, panasonic for your home, most have 6 inch mid-bass drivers and 6 inch subs as well.
As DC5typeR stated the right components is key.
I have full dynamat and dyna zorb diffuser in my doors, that alone makes the bass from the splits enough to get by without a sub.
I run an Pioneer 6800BT HU, audison Sxr3 amp, powering Oz Audio splits, with the tweeters mounted well into the foot wells, and a 12inch sub in the boot. I had a sub enclosure custom made for the rear well, where the spare used to go, but the roof down deadened the bass heavily.
But wouldn't u worry about your tweeters??
tweeters put them on the pillars so they sit abit higher as they wont sound good if they are covered by your leg most of the time
No, LOL, as in wouldn't u worry about bass coming outta ya tweeters??
If you want a sub enclosure in your boot and want to save space at the same time.
You should get in contact with my mate, he does custom enclosures, here's an example of his work;

At the moment he doesn't have any s2k moulds, but if you want he might be able to make something up.
Located in west syd
here is my speakers..
um i know its abit bodgy with the spacer but its just a trail fit till i do my complete custom install..
um btw if u dont wanna run a spacer u need to run a smaller speaker as my kickers have big magnets so yea ..
anyways comments are welcome..

looks good i might do something similar to my one
lol get a hardtop, it makes any avg/ sh1tty sound system sound x10 better.
I've pretty much got the same set up as hass, but no rears speakers.

hass any problems with the chair rubbing etc.?
if the seat is al the way back it will touch the tweeter but the seat doesnt need to go all the way back...
If you are going to lifestyle mate,
They have a massive sale on this friday and saturday and are having some great deals as i went in the yesterday to ask bout whats going to be on sale as i got my system from them.
Personally, i wouldn't go rockford splits, i would go MB Quart, JL Audio, Boston, Hertz.
If you were after on sale items they sell in store they do have mb quart, hertz and boston.
i like the idea of speakers behind the seats, im running 2 herts speakers no splits.. off a kendwood headunit (the one with the tiny screen to watch movies on haha) a pioneer 800watt monoblock amp to power some pioneer sub im using as i blew my kicker up.. but when i had the kicker in there the bass and quility was amazing.. i think tom (fasn8u) heard it with a shitty 5 channel powering the kicker and from memory he thought it was pretty decent :P but yeah dont run your subs off a 4/5 channel if you want good quility.. imo anyway.
was decent BUT u need rockfords to make it realy pump;)
haha eat balls tom, my kicker will out pump your gay rockfords anyday :P yours is just clarity mine is ear drum blowing :P
yeah, well just for future reference to some people who might not know much about car audio.. a monoblock is a single channel and usually pumps constant power at a higher level then bridging a 4-5 channel amp.. the amps with more channels are used to run speakers mostly instead of using the power out of the headunit..
I have have this but in the 12inch sits nice and flush against the back of the boot, can even get spare tyre in and out and room for your shopping too.

i dropped my car off this last week to do a custom install in my S.
im running 2 x JL 12w6, 2 x 500/1 amps, 300/4 amp, 2 x pair of kicker rs5 splits.
i cant wait to hear it with the two subs i was running it with 1 previously but now added a sub and an amp..
when i get back from overseas ill post pics..
probably best setup in all of syd, if not aus, in an s2k huss!
difference is, one is road legal one isnt lol. and even if it was, who in their right mind would drive it on the road lol.
lol i agree with you F20C, and who would want speakers in their engine bay lol.
haha i know! imagine the weight issue the car has now, massive fatty diet.
LOL funny thing is with my 2 subs i pulled 136.9dbs and thats ****ing awesome for a soft top car....
he only pulled 130dbs.. so ill leave the rest to you to think lol..
wow =\ LOL your deafening sydney! lol :P
Lol.....
here's my effort. ahaha please dont laugh guys.
I have the JVC AVX1 dvd player.
i got a pair of 6" JL audio speakers n a pair of splits.
got a Sony amp and a 12" soundstream.
lol now dont tease the screen. i know its pointless and lame but
they were in my old car in my sunvisors.
and as u kno the S2000 has tiny visor and they didn fit so i pulled it apart and put it to SOME sort of use.
now i kno its uneven because the amps twice the size of the screen but i still wanted my spare wheel.
and i relocated the tools to under my passenger seat.

nice and simple.. well done..
I needa make a box that fits right into the boot hole.. i've seen a couple now and it looks nice and saves alot of space considering we dont have much to play with lol. But what would the difference be in the way the sound is directed? i know when i face my sub up it sounds different and alot harder then facing it towards the backend of the car..
my right side speaker sometimes stops working. every now and again wen i turn or go over a bump it just stops working. can sum1 help me..could a cable be loose or is my speaker gone bcuz it also starts distorting
#1 i'd check connections first
yea i guess so. i cbf pulling off the door panel. i mite end up getting a new head unit and speakers in time bcuz the stock system isnt that good, especially wen u have the top down
Definatly your connections. I had the same problem also, just a quick fix. BUt then upgraded my speakers anyway haha.
alrite then. if u no how 2 fix it. mind if i drop past sumtime wif emre n we fix this shit up?
Yeah i dont care. Just warn me before you do so i dont sleep allday.. lol
Sik as =d
Why would you want to? you'll be limited to little bass produced by speakers. You'll never pull decent bass out of any speakers their magnets are quite small and so will the speaker. You need to "move air" to generate bass. If your not looking for much bass then i'd say do it. But if you think your going to want more bass down the track dont bother and do it right the first time with decent splits + amp + sub. OH and dont forget the headunit wont be powering the speakers as much as an amp would ;) and if you like it loud i highly doubt that it will support anywhere near 90Db it will end up distorting way before that.
if you read what he posted then you would understand why he has a screen in the boot...
and i've done pretty much what he has done. except the screen
ive got the same boot setup with a alpine v12 AMP and JL w3 12" sub :)
alpine headunit and kicker speakers. Its nice, loud and not over the top :)
still doesn't justify its purpose
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........
Makes me want to build something in my S.
if u want BASS out of your speakers.. atleast but the right speaker :P

i gota video here: of'm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgmxjFuOv2g
as for the screen in the boot
COZ ITS COOL :) i got speakers in my engine bay.. :) lol not everything has to have a purpose.
very nice setup asia ... regarding your system ..
how much did you pay lifestyle for that?
about 5.5k for the gear brand new, 2.5 k for install
pointless money spent. Theres only so much you can have in a car. If i spent 7k on a sound system for a car i would expect everyone i know to kill me. You could of done so much more with that 7k.. TURBO!!! lol.
and tamay since when did you get all that shit lol? w3's are shit. to clear for me. Cant feel it enough. now a w7.. thats a different story LOL get one of them tamay!
