Insuring a Repairable Write-off

I had a look at a car yesterday, and it was very straight and very clean. And I was told after I finished inspecting it that it was a repairable write-off, he told me where the car was hit and I had a look at it and I couldn't tell that it had been in an accident.

The cars been re-inspected and re-registered, and I will probably get a mechanic to take a look at it soon.

But I just wanted to ask if there would be any difficulties getting comprehensive insurance for the car, since it's a repairable write-off?
Or would I be able to get insurance for it at all.

It's a dc2r.

If it was a repairable write-off and it's been repaired, then you should have no issue getting insurance for it.

apparently what ive been told is you cant get full comprehensive insurance for a repairable write off although i may have been told wrong.

it would be better if you called up the insurance place, to confirm ! simple ..

I've got a few friends who have full comprehensive insurance on repairable write-offs

However your best bet would be to do a few on-the-phone quotes and see what you're told. But from my experience, you shouldn't have any issues at all :)

you should be fine dude, because if it has been registered and it was a repairable rite off then it would have had to have gone through a viv inspection which makes sure the car was repaired to the right standards etc before it could get rego'd so u shouldnt have a drama but like JDM-EGG saidm just call the ins company and check!!

I called up a few and checked. No problems with any of them, cept for the high costs of insurance. :(

But the high cost is probably more associated with the car, your age, the amount of driving experience you've got and what suburb you live in as opposed to the car being a repairable write-off :(

Comprehensive insurance is a must imo :)

Comprehensive = $$$ if your under 25

Redbook states that a 2000 DC2R should be valued at approx. $11,800-$14,000 (private) for examples ranging 90,000 - 160,000 kilometers.

But it really depends on the car itself; the k's, condition etc...
You can post it up in the Integra sub-forum, people can usually give you a better idea after looking at the car :cool:

$10k for a DC2R regardless of being a repairable write off is bloody suss, if you get the opportunity to buy one at that price then GO FOR IT!! :wave:

I wrote my car off in the rain going about 4km per hour.....

Brought it back off the insurance company for $1200

They paid me out $8000

Repaired the car for $4000 and brought a turbo kit with the profit :thumbsup:

So as long as the cars listed correctly as repairable write-off and fixed correctly then its fine and more than likely a good deal :thumbsup:

But you MUST check what they have listed the write-off as

getting it checked on friday, i think, and taking it home with me if theres no problems :D

coz it could be a stat write-off and u cant reregister...

but if its still got rego then its aiight

yes you can get comprehensive insurance on a repairable write off. basically with insuring anything it depends on which insurance company and they will assess if its insurable or not according to their rules, procedures, professional judgement,
