Ok so i just noticed the front tyres of my car are worn unenven.
The steering does not vibrate, it doesnt pull to one side.
however the inside of the tyres are worn out. the outside of the tyres look brand new hardly any wear on them. the thread would be like 90% the inside of the tyre is like 20%
What could be happening? i prob need to get new tyres soon because of this and want to fix it so the next pair dont wear out like this.
is your car lowered?
No not lowered sitting on stock springs and stock rims.
using 205 - 55 - 15" tyres.
if so.. go to a tyre shop, get them to check the wheel alignment, and you may need a camber adjustment.Quote:

it's just the toe wearing it out anyway unless one of your suspension components/body is bent so that it gives camber(well more than it should have)
ok really noob question.
how would I know if the body/suspension is bent.
Secondly What do u mean by toe. if i dont fix that will the same thing happen to my next set of tyres.
You will know when you get the suspension alignment measured at the tyre shop. They will only be able to adjust for toe without adding aftermarket adjustable suspension arms/adding washers. Ask for the printout of your before and after alignment and post it up here.Quote:

Yes it will probably happen again. Go to suspension/wheel shop and get a wheel alignment, it usually costs around $60.
its probably toe... toe wears out your tyres was worse than camber.
how long since you rotated the tyres? not too sure what toe and camber settings stock would use, but the prolong hte life of tyres, they should be rotated as well - more often if you like to run neg camber
Dont think i've ever rotated the tyres.
I got the tyres balanced and aligned when i got them about a year ago.
maybe try to re-do your alignment, see what the computer say, if there is no camber, toe is the only way, possible you have too much "toe out", try to set more toe in now, and spot will the inner tyre stop wearing out.
when you guys go for alignment do you hang around and go on the test drive with the mech?
mate do another wheel alignment, they probably got a dodgy 1st year apprentice to do it or something.
when i first installed my coilovers i didnt get a wheel alignment, went and got new tyres, 4 weeks later it was worn to the wire of the tyres. went to get a wheel alignment, the mechanic said my toe was in about 20 degrees, which is bad, cos i understeered alot with when it wasnt aligned, after that it was all good.
just do it again

Depends what you want out of your car. If you know the stock alignment settings from the service manual, tell them to use those settings. The settings in their alignment computer database can sometimes be out of date and they use settings meant for a similar model instead.Quote:

I just took my front tyres off and it looks like I got the same problem.I have rotated them a couple of times but there is definate excessive wear on the inner front tyres.I had an alignment done a few months ago.The car is lowered on kings lows and stock shocks.

I asked them if they can get the toe as close to zero and the camber roughly even on both sides when I was there.

did you see whether they actually set it correctly and got a printout?
i've got -2deg camber and 1mm total toe out on the front and it's wearing very evenly still
I did get a printout and I remember the figures being good.I can't find it now...
I've had good use out of these tyres,it's just the excessive wear you can see on the inside that concerns me.

I have some T1R's I might get put on and ask them the same - get the toe as close to zero and the camber roughly even on both sides.And get them to check all the suspension components while they are at it.
I have some - * Mugen Front Upper Control Arm Bushes
* Mugen Front Lower Control Arm Bushes
Maybe I should take them along and if the old ones are shot,get them put in? Would the above bushes if buggered cause the excessive tyre wear?
easy to see really if your bushes are shot
jiggle the arms around and see if theres any excessive play
but the tyre wear problems to me looks like excessive toe in

My front right CV boot is split,grease everywhere.Could that cause the uneven wear?
All the bushes are fine.13 years and going strong!
don't see why a split boot would cause any havoc on tyre wear
but get it fixed asap though :)

My front lower strut bar wasn't tight.I tighten it up.I just can't figure out if it would cause the uneven tyre wear? Vinny!? :)

Beeza, you only got your wheel alignment a few months ago. You probably did all that inner wear before the alignment. Just cause you've now had an alignment, it won't 'correct' what has already been done. It will now wear down evenly inside and out. So you'll always have uneven wear. Get what I mean?
Thanks Dean,I know what ya mean.The last alignment was a 3-4 months ago,before that one,about a year back again.
I swapped the back to front,front to back.The tread on the back tyres that are now on the front are even,so I will monitor it after the strut brace has been tightened and see if it wears inevenly or not.I wont bother getting an alignment again until I put the new T1r's on.
This will be a good little experiment now that I'm driving 600km's a week!
When I swapped from the 17" to the 15",I'm pretty sure I didn't get an alignment for quite a while...so maybe that uneven wear,or some of,is from that too.
