what do you want out of the car?
do you want to goto the race track? do you want a sports car or a hot hatch?
do you need it for a daily driver?
if u want a daily driver that looks like a sports car than i would get an Integra Type-S
if u want a daily driver that u can also take to the track i would get an Integra Type-R
if u want something thats a little different but not a sports car, thats lighter and fun to drive get the Civic Type-R
all of them have K20's and all of them respond well to modifications
im sure others can go into more detail - good luck with the decision
EP3R, unless u get a jdm dc5r
I drive a DC5R, i came from no honda background information wat-so-ever
Ill tell u obviously get a DC5R..
The pride in these cars is to try get these as stock as you can as you'd want to bring these up yourself and make them into a beauty of a car, but thats me, if you wanna continue on sumone elses work go for it.
I like EP3 TypeR's but they don't do much for me, word of warning as sum1 else said..
DC5R's are not good on long ass drive's of 200-300km plus, i can do about 250km before it starts to kill me, if you wanna do those sorta drive's along the track get a Type S instead.
Whichever u pick at the end your going to love your choice, can't go wrong with a honda ;)
You should get ep3R, it is a tru type R and not the lame version of the 5c5r that we got....
My mate has a ep3r awesome car.....
ep3r looks like a jazz...*runs and hides*
i drive an ep3, and all my mates thinks my car looks like a jazz and probably runs like a jazz.
but good thing is when i take em on at the lights.
My mate in his comodore SS was even shocked when we had a go. :)
does someone have a technical breakdown of the difference between engines, ride height? etc
i think the best and easiest way to decide would be to go and drive both and decide for yourself
the EP3 has alot more pedigree as a true type-r and receives great reviews etc (top gear for example) but personally i dont like the interior and the only 'hot hatch' ive ever liked is the EK
i like having the 'coupe' style car myself ... but the EP3 is better for 'sleeper attak' on ignorant ford/holden drivers =p
DC5R so you can just buy mine :)
also you posted this in the "Integra" section so that makes me think you want a DC5R... But this is what i just saw.....

Soooo you have already made up your mind??? EP3 Type R (soon) aye??
He also posted in the Civic section. Where everyone there went for the EP3R.
Bottomline is its up to you.
Its a matter of personal preference.
You could probably pick up an EP3R for cheaper and in better condition than a DC5R (of the same price).
But drive both and see what you think.
Personally I like the DC5s better so I got a DC5.
I found it too weird with the shiftknob position on the EP3R.
lmao all this talk about ep3rs and jazz's lols this jazz will take you dc5's out xD~ ahahaha mate
in the end its up to you but to be honest test drive both cars if you can then chose from there becuase at the end of the day were not driving the cars its YOU but yeah ive got a ep3 and im loving it so much more now i got coils in  even so a stock ep3 to a stock dc5 ep3 is winner even if its a jdm dc5 ep3 is still a winner ;)
it all comes down to styling if u where going to heavilly modify it...and i think the vast majority of people would say a dc5 looks better than an ep3. having said that...i dont think you can even fit an rbc IM into the engine bay of the ep3, correct me if im wrong
yeah true i like the overall look of a dc5 to be honest but the drive of a ep3 is just better imo
also to the saint his only got was it $20k to spend dont think u can get a type s for that price could you? i say dc5s and ep3 is around there probly $22k -23
haha nah not quite yet mate.. i've been looking for type r's for awhile and the EP3's sorta interests me.. till i saw a DC5-R for like 17.. sorta made me think a little.. i mean they're both nice cars
but yeah i agree, i should really drive both and test them both out.. it's gna be a tough decision..
When your test driving an ep3 you will find a it strange at first of where the gear stick is positioned but you will get use to it and dont forget a ep3 is a bit lighter than a dc5r.
i have actually seen some pretty cheap type-s around private sale these days - 40yr old female drivers husbands must be buying them upgrades lol
the drive of the EP3 is suppose to be alot more epic than the AUSDM Dc5 family ... but to be honest i have never been in one ... i still prefer to drive a coupe than a hatch tho but everyone is different
i have nothing against a EP3R, they both good cars, but for my personality, i dont suit a hatch for some reason.
I like the look on the typeS too and thinking of getting one before the R, even though typeS is more KW than typeR and its heavier than DC5R, you can always make it a DC5R way too to it, such as putting recaro seats replacing the heavy leather seats. I was thinking of that before i got the DC5R, but and the end i got the DC5R and i get many good feedbacks of how i made it look and done atm.
but its really upto you, but that what i was thinking before i bought my car.
Perry, you are right for the gear stick position but maybe wrong for the weight.
JDM DC5R is 1190kg vs JDM EP3R of 1210kg.
id assume AUDM DC5R would weight similar to the JDM, otherwise i'm wrong.
back on topic, if you want to carry people/stuff around, EP3R might be more practical than DC5R.
for me i just want a geninue JDM Type R, it happens to be the EP3R (excluding private imports) so that's what i bought.
DC5R is grouse car to drive
I love mine to death, i came from a ford laser so the transition was ****ing outstanding
Mate honestly get a DC5R dw about the civic boys :P haha :D
Nah drive both as everyone has said and you'll know right away but the only thing about an EP3R that shits me is where the shifter is..
whats the difference in boot space like?
the integras have a nice long hatch but the EP3 looks like its small?
the slanting boot lid on dc5r limits alot of things fitting. ep3r has alot more room
both good cars but id go the ep3r..
ive driven both and at first the shifter is akward but after a few mins i loved it..
shifting was so easy and its so close to the wheel i felt so involved lol
visibility is alot better in the civic too (kinda sick of limited vision from my dc2r lol)
i wouldnt go to a dc5r from my dc2r though.. just cos i want something different.. plus ive always been in love with hot hatches :D (not the fn2r though lol)
I've driven all 4 cars and i rank them like this in terms of feel
1st DC2R
2nd EP3R
3rd DC5R
4th DC5S
If you want looks, go the DC5S
