Hey guys i dont know why but i find it so hard to decide whether i want to make my EM1 look good first or build the motor first... can i just have some people opinions... taking into consideration that i only have 1 demerit point left (if i build my motor might be G'd up to frang it everywhere)...
gonna leave a poll to so vote away...
and if you do have some pics of nicely modified EM1's do post... even tho i know there is a thread full ok EK's and EM's...

depends on what your after aye..if u wanna impress the ladies then go for looks..if you wanna impress yourself and your mates and yourself then go for speed
but seeing as you have one demerit point left ide go for looks lol saves your from the temptation from speeding more often
really up to you at the end of the day I guess =]

anything you do to your engine ull end up trying to push the car, like when i got my whale penis intake it wasnt much of a performance mod but i always punch the pedal more to get the loud roar from the intake
if it doesnt already look good then spend on some cosmetics mods, if its nice already then just save up first

I always go mods before looks. No point having a car that looks fast but isn't. But whatever tickles your fancy.

i go looks cos the FD will never b fast without major work.
plus as a DD it's not much use being fast.

To OP, do what you like and what your budget allows. Personally Id do suspension, brake and wheel/tire mods first. Learn how to drive and the characteristics of your car first - then move on to power mods if you wish. An underpowered good handling car can be a hell of a lot of fun.
well the thin about that tonight at 12am midnight i lost my license :( for not stopping long enough at a stop sign... so looks like ill be oing for looks now... i was so cut when i got pulled over... knew i lost em straight away but lucky it wasnt an offence against the double demerit point system... i lost 3 demerit points for not stopping long enough... man if he was a nice officer he could of let me off.. but nooooo he was a dirty cop lmao.... anywayz guys as much as id love to do power... i think im gonna stick with looks for now... just my luck... who can survive on one point anywayz lol... but ill also do a little bit of work to the motor in the 3 months im not driving my EM1... so prepare to see one JDM AS F*CK car back on the road soon.... tc guys and thanks for the commentsQuote:

i did my b20 vtec in my three months suspension . you should too!
yeah i would do it but i dont have all the money right now... but i will do it eventually so i the mean time ill do some engine and exterior work...
3 months without a car will save you quite a bit you will be suprised lol

If youre going to build an engine and then be disapointed everytime you see a plain interior/exterior, then don't do it. Or vice versa. Personally an engine is the last item on build list because it is the most expensive and arguably the most important part. So I want to do it right once, not okla twice. If I were you I would do everything else first, suspension, brakes, interior... You name it, get it ready for a highpowered engine.

Keep your car looking JDM bro. Go I/H/E and a bottom end, but before you do bottom end you might wanna do some internal head work like valves, valve springs, retainers etc....
prob go looks now that you lost your licence man, hard luck. Start a build thread and keep us updated with what you decide to do to the car. Personally on my em1 im tending to do more looks and suspension first, the only performance mod so far is Injen CAI.
Oh wait, you're running a D16Y1 yeah? In that case do an engine conversion for power instead. If you wanna do B20 you probably need to do head work first (maybe like $4000) and for the B20 you should probably get new conrods and pistons (another like $4000-5000). And to do that you'd best get a DOHC VTEC engine.
So if you really wanna do a B20 later I suppose you could go B18C7 coz it has a nice strong/aggressive head on it already. Otherwise just go B16A2 or B18CR bro

dude when u bought the car off my mate the motor was gun ahaha had clutch and flywheel and exhaust and shit done already car looks good dropped on stockies honestly i dont think theres anything you can do exterior wise that will make the car nicer.. maybe bits and pieces here and there but nothing hectic man the car looks good and goes good b20 bottom end for sure though ahaha talk to fatboyz or benson if u become serious about the 2.0L bottom end

Ask yourself these questions:
do you plan to go and race at the track? 1/4 or sprints..
do you plan to race your mates? (closed track of course :))
will you get more satisfaction out of knowing it's fast or walking back to it and thinking 'damn that looks good!'?
If you're barely gonna use the power, spend the money on looks. And as someone else said, if you wanna go for hard power you should have coilovers, brakes, etc done first.

In your case I would go looks (Rims) first as your B16a2 already goes hard enough, But in my case I went Looks then suspension, brakes and now looking at adding more power to my car. But its up to you and don't forget that you have to look after your licence.

I guess you should consider the function of your car...upgrade your suspension, rubber, clutch, stiffen up the chassis, short shifter, etc...
From experience dont change your motor nor open up the B16...it will never be the same as it came from Honda...B16 is fine, just let it breath with better induction and exhaust...
this way you're car will look and go good...although it will definitely feel great to drive... and easy to sell lol...champ build a car for yourself and not to impress others...
