ok, so my cars been actign wierd for d past few weeks.
another issue is .
its overheating.
BUT
the gauge goes up and down up and down and so on.
i wan try n rewire the radiator to keep it constantly on to check if the thermo is the problem.
i tried searching but no luck. anyone had similar issue or someone could link me to a diy to rewire.....
i kno where the switch is. should i just connect the wires?
You can remove the thermostat and check if it opens when heated with hot water. Personally, if you have not replaced it in the last 6 years I recommend doing so anyway.

Yeah just take out the plug that connects to the thermostat housing and put a wire or paperclip into the two holes. That will keep the fan always on
Your thermostat must be stuck closed or something, and your fan engaging must be the reason the temps go down and up.
Mine was the opposite, it was stuck open. I still need to change it :(
fossil it can be a few things.
1. didnt bleed system properly.
2. if you want to rewire for a contant on only to check. get speaker cable and go directly from the battery to the plug on the rad.
3. if thermo's the problem just remove it, you dont really need it lol else it could also be the fan switch**
maybe you got a blockage somewhere in your radiator from the corrosion if any:(
i rewired it. its constantly on now

mixing water wid coolant could result in this problem? i just remembered emergency styles i added water to the coolant. is it possible that there is too much water and its overheating?
well why did u add water to ur coolant in the first place?
yes water does affect it.... best option for u is to do a coolant flush and go from there.
sorry no it doesnt affect but make sure you bleed it properly, i had to bleed it 5 times on my crv =p before it was normal. it was dead dry at one stage that's why.Quote:

The battery may get flat?
It will take longer to warm up the engine because the fan will take the heat away.
Since warm up takes longer, the car will run rich longer, thus wasting petrol.

more alogn the issue of the fan motor burnign out due to excessive use.
