BLUE wiring under hood (electrical tape)

Hey guys if you wanna have that tuner look under your bonnet from fast and the furious with all those blue wires and hoses, then all you need is blue electrical tape...

To do this you need to cut long pieces of blue tape off and cover the wire with it long ways...

It is best if you can to take off the wire/s or hose and do it from there much more room and time give then to perfect it right...

step 1. cut the tape in long pieces (measure it according to hose/wire/s)

step 2. take hose/wire/s off and place them down

step 3. slowly line up your tape straight to the side of the hose/wire/s

step 4. apply it slowly to perfect it

step 5. make sure its on nice and firm, with no tape bits sticking up or off

step 6. apply the hose/wire/s again back to where they came from and your DONE!!! :)

THIS SHOULD TAKE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 10-20 MINUTES DEPENDING ON HOW MANY HOSES/WIRE/S YOU DO...

its not the best thing in the world but its a lil good DIY that gives you that tuner look and neatens up your bay abit more :)

it would get sticky later if you take it off but if you dont care and and you wanna have a good laugh its not bad to do i didnt actually do it on the hoses i just did all the wiring and it looks quite good :)

well it might get sticky but the idea is to do a number of layers on it, preferably dont do it on the hoses just the wires i find that works best photo's will be uploaded soon of a couple i did under my hood :)

radiator hose + gaffa/clothe tape = adhesive everywhere which melts. but good to see thinking outside of the square!

well i actually said it wouldnt really matter if it were on wires but hoses maybe isnt such a good idea, i have them on my wires in the engine bay and ive had them there for a few months now and their not melting off or anything but yes if i do take them off it willl be sticky but im not fussed coz the wires didnt look much better before...

if you used blue electrical tape, it should be rated to V90 standards. this means that it can handle up to 90degrees Celsius for a short amount of time before it starts to break down.
so really you shouldnt have a problem about melting tape where you have used it around the cables in your engine bay, unless you have used it around the exhaust area.

nope not used around exhaust area :) so clear from any major heat... pics will be up soon guys just been abit busy but ill try my best...

why dont u wrap your headers as well for shits and giggles haha :)

none taken just trying to think outside the box on this, like by all means if you dont wanna leave any sticky residue on your wires this isnt for you, but if you really dont care and your willing to give it a go, then by all means go and do it... for a laugh or whatever the reaosn may be :)

ohh and pics will be up soon i took some of my bay about 10 mins ago
just uploading on comp now... and i havnt got my whole engine bay looking like a blue sea so dont expect anything special lol just a few wires here and their that colour coat with my NRG blue leads and some blue radiator hoses along with my blue spoon socks :P:P

why not just use heat shrink.

i went to Jaycar picked up about $40 worth of blue heat shrink and did most wires in that - did some hoses too.

Pro: last longer and looks better
Con: be a bitch to remove later on lol

got about 2m still left over

i agree, it does actually look like a good job , i was honestly expecting it to look really bad - the thought of wrapping hoses and wires with blue tape reminds me of a kid wrapping it up in tape leaving edges of tape sticking out but i must say it does actually look like it was done well.

You do realise V90 is actually the rating for 75degrees?

wrong. maximum permissible is 90degrees, normal use is 75degrees.

That looks really good, and if you want to remove the sticky gunk from your wires afterward you could simply use some eucalyptus oil and it will come off with no stress at all. When I had duck tape and other gunk on my front windshield I used some of that with a cloth and it came out with no struggle at all.

thats good to know and i actually took one of the tapes off and there was no gunk or sticky residue :) pleased to say...

but after a month also those glue will got heated up and melted and it wont stick any more and become ugly and sitcky lol because of the hea of the engine bay is just too hot for the glue..

hey ive had it on for over more that 5 months taken some off aswell... no sticky residue left on wires :)
