Buying a DC2R what to look for?

ok i did the search, just got a few more question:
is the 2000 and the 2001 model same or they have some different?
if the car is serviced every 10ks instead of every 5k, is it still ok? or should i walk away?
would the car have a lot of different in power and speed, if i had 3 people in the car with ac on, compare to only 2 people in car without ac?
how do i buy the car if there is still finance owning on it?
if there is rust on the brake calipa (spelling) is it normal, rust is not on brake disc, its on the calipa?
is the black colour metallic or solid black?

Standard VTEC
Low-High is 5800
High-Low is 5600

Just make sure it has the ID number under the hand brake and if its a AUS spec, take down the vin number, go to a Honda dealership and ask them to check out the history.
I did it, and they told me where it was purchased, all the service history and at what KLM and where from the computer....

You can actually check all that info online on Honda OZ website

You dont go to a link to check the history, I went to Garry Warren Honda and asked them, and they were very helpfull. About the brake calipers being rusty, its ok, I get that all the time when I dont drive it much. All the 99-01 DC2R's are exactly the same engine (only diff engine numbers). About the 10k and 5k service, its hard to say. It is normal to get a car serviced at 10k and 5k if it is thrashed quite regularly, just make sure that car has a service history (books) wheather its by Honda or other. And black are metalic yes. (pearl black)

to check History of car, you must register the car details first.

Test drive the car. Check the oil leakage. Check the seat. Check the paint. After checking, you can estimate how he maintain his car.

And check the vtec valve thing.... #)($*#)($ what's the name of it? the little bronze cap thing on the left hand corner of the engine, next to the distrubutor, check if it leaks oil

check the paint colour between the exterior and the inside door, if it's different, it's repaint....

Seat.... well it's covered..... check conditions, check rail, check mountings

Check the gear, especially 2nd and 3rd, Gearbox should label N3E LSD

check engine code, B18C7, P73 head

check leakage, for eg, any coolant around the rad cap, reservior tank, brake fluid and clutch fluid, what's the colour of it

Anyway sometimes you couldn't find out anything when testdrive, ppl just being too good to hide something, just beware of that

honestly take the car down to a VACC registered dealer and put it up on a hoist and get the mechanic to go through it - they will put i up on a hoist and give u a report which goes through their findings, incl panel damage, compression testing, paint chips down to tread wear on the tyres.

Agreed fvck all this DIY shit if you duno what ur looking at, get someone who knows what they're doing to check it over.

I wonder what mine is LOL i cant tell. Anwayz dude who eva orginally posted this thread. BUY TYPE ONES type R and then you dont have to look for anything. His car is well looked after and in immac condition. Unless type one sold it already.

can vouch for type one's 'R' ... not 1 dent or scratch and engine sounds perrrfect

open the bonnet an check the paint difference he myt off crash it an resprayed it an check under the car for anything shifty!

What he said. Itr has a very good setup. You can thrash it as much as you want. And it still runs like a dream. I believe ITR were made for thrashing and red lining.

the price of them seems to be still high for the year and kms, for a few thousand more (or some time almost the same price) u can get a dc5r...

why would you want a DC5R??? you mean a DC5 Type S...

That's right, the AUSDM DC2R and AUSDM DC5'R' are two very different animals. Without starting another war, DC2R is definitely the more raw and exciting car. DC5'R' is effectively and American TypeS with the type R kit (bodykit, recaros, 6 speed + LSD). Not that it's a bad thing, but if you're looking for the uncompromising 'R' experience...

Also it's just been proven what I've always thought, type one's car has a VERY strong b18c. Definitely something to think about.

if you are complaining about the price of a DC2R you don't know what they are worth and you really should prolly get a nissan silvia or sth... hahahaha... having said that i would like think that most R drivers would be willing to compromise if they thought their car was going to a good home... the b18c7 is really something special... don't let anyone tell you the k20 is a better engine... hohoho flamesuit on...

SIF get a dc5r. DC5R ruin the image of a type R. Dc2r is raw and real racey feel to it when your in the cockpit, also sound wise. In a dc5r its more luxuary and comfort. You lose the racey feel and you get into more luxuary. Last of all Dc5r are not real type r, they're amercian type S with a type R badge slapped on it. In the end its personal preference. If you want more comfort for sure dc5r, if you want sport cant go passed the dc2r.

i actually had two s14 series 1 and series 2, and after that a r33 skyline gtst
and i am thinking its time to try VTEC.......
i am not looking at power or speed in the VTEC (i know they can have big power and fast) but all i want is the handling of them, i wanna be fast in the corners rather than the straight (like the r33) boring.....

Can't go wrong with Dc2r. I always wanted s14 s2 for speed and looks. I stumbled over dc2r ended up falling in love with it and bought it. I believe its oe of the best decisions I've ever made. It has enough speed for fun and the handling, well gezz nothing passes it.

ture that, but s14 is a really good car to have:D i was very happy to have it, but have to move on to another car, so its should be the dc2r.......
still working out a price with the owner.... have to wait and see how it goes...

reason i didnt get dc5 = felt like i was driving a sedan more than a sports coupe...

nick just keep ur dc2r... what would u get to replace it neway?... nothing will compare to a dc2

hmmm....not really Kenshin! Aus delivered s14 includes both the round one and pointy nose one!
