hey guys i just recently purchased a dc5r.
On a full tank im roughly getting 350kms. Im not driving it hard at all, yet my petrol is dying really quick. The engine looks stock as a rock, havent really looked at it in too much detail but does anyone have any ideas?
how many km's.... depending how high it is, it could be time to replace your O2 sensor(s)...
Age deteriorates the sensors ability to read accurately and can cause the ecu increasing fuel usage and therefore your bad fuel economy...
What kind of fuel are you putting in it?
just the average unleaded petrol, and 72 000kms on the clock
you shud be using premium fuel only 98ron maybe thats why ur not getting much k's
even so, my mate is gettin like 550kms out of his fuel tank, wouldnt make that much of a difference would it?

i have only ever used bp ultimate i my car....
first and foremost... for me, i believe out of all the 98RON fules, v power burns way too fast.. bp ultimate is the best imo.
But i get around 500km to my tank, but my reading is average of 9.0litres / 100km
i drive basically 250km cruising, and 250 spirited.
The other weekend, i went RNP and went up and down about 6/7 times... Gave it a good squirt! and i still got 500 km afterwards.
Also when you shift, the best time for shifting for power/fuel economy, i shift @ 3K
so shift anywhere from 2500-3000rpm. shifting around 2Krpm- dc5's struggle.
I also use a website called fuelly that tracks my fuel consumption; www.fuelly.com
I jsut punch in the price i paid for my fuel, the km i done, and the amount of litres i filled up. Tells me all this info and average consumption etc!
ull prob have to run 98 ron for a 1-2 tanks before it starts to show some improvement also.
BP Ultimate or Mobil 8000.
Mobil 8000 some reason pulls much better then Ultimate in my ITR but thats IMO...
Problem with Mobil is that there ain't to many of them around ..

1100/76 = 14.47
To check, 14kms for 1L so 76 x 14 = 1100.

i've always used vpower, it doesnt burn too fast hence always gettin 500+ even under the occasional "push". I might have to try mobil and see if there's any difference...
But regardless, it depends on wether you go to a lot of stop-start traffic or not/if you're a "heavy foot" type/anticipate traffic...
Everytime you fill up, just make sure the hose is somewhat vertically down and turn the fuel handle upside down as there are always a little bit leftover fuel in there that people usually forget about...its basically fuel that are left inside the hose/handle...u paid for it so make the most of it...
You're wrong. All DC's have 50-litre tanks. Even the first gen SX16 Integra had a 50 litre tank. Check the hard specifications if you don't believe me. The fuel gauge is a little alarming as it shows empty/reserve very early on to stop optimistic people running it until dry.Quote:

Even though the AuDM DC2 is officially tuned for 95RON based on spec sheets, I go further on BP Ultimate 98RON. 95RON usually gets me around 450-460km until the reserve light comes on. With BP ultimate the car does 500km until the reserve light comes on.
running my dc5 non-R on V-power. Mainly highway driving (from city to nepean hospital). full tank can last me close to 600km and the reserve light hasn't come on.
So OP. In summary,
use 98 octane fuel for a few tanks and see how you go :)

i think im having that problem as well i use shell v power, but the problem is i fill it up when its just a little passed half way and when its about halfway it does about 180-200kms is that normal? i change gears at around 3000-4000 vtec once or twice? so if i did the full tank would i do about 400kms? when do you guys fill up? when its almost at empty or like 1cm off that? thakns btw my tyre pressures are good and got it serviced not long ago with new spark plugs :)

What i notice though, is difference in where you pump your gas. Had 1 experience where I pumped V-power at Station A and only lasted 400ish whereas Station B could last me 500-600ish. Same driving style, nothing changed..
Recently I've research myself with using either V-power/BP ult./98ron and other top brands and out of all these, I'd have to go with BP ultimate.
I do some regular driving including hitting the "v-tec yo" and for some reason the others seemed to burn much quicker and easier compare to BP ult.
I'm not quite sure of the differences between each of these but for me BP does me well and leaves me quite a few juice to keep me going.

A/C does affect your fuel...especially in stop start traffic
Apologies if this is going sidetracked, but do you own a DC4 or have filled up a DC4 from an almost empty tank? I filled up petrol today from what I believe is an almost empty and can only manage 38 litres.Quote:

You can't do that and say that your tank is absolutely 40 litres. There is a reserve section where the needle is at empty but you have about 8-10 litres left at the bottom. And the thread you linked points to 50 litres.Quote:

Well it depends if you use it excessively or not. For instance, have you ever notice that at idle with the A/C on, your idle rpm is below normal/or you can say that it is idling substantially "rougher" than without A/C (No, im not talking bout the A/C fan noise...)Quote:

if your car is consuming too much petrol than usual i suggest next time you fill up your car with premium fuel add a bottle of 'injector cleaner' to your tank it wont hurt and chances are it'll resolve your problem

Tire pressure, 32 psi but for me i like 34psi. Myabe cus you have windows down which causes drag. Take out the spare tire its 15kgs makes a abit of a difference and lose some weight lol
