Would the oem 4.7 final drive from dc2r fit b16a\b18c2 box?
With the itr 1st gear , counter shaft and a few other small parts yes ( itr needle bearing lower collar etc)
nice nice info, been looking for this answer
thanks for quick reply, just curious
how much the oem 4.7 fd usually go for second hand
it will fit in the b18c2 as a drop in as will the LSD
Ok, FD is interchangeble between all B18C/B16B - as ben says for the '98 Spec ITR box.
All EK9/ITR LSD's are the same. The ring gear difference is between the B16A (small diff) and B16B/18C (large diff).
The '98 spec difference is with the countershaft, as the '98 spec uses a slightly different fitment 1st gear.
- B16A
- B16B/B18C/B18C '98 Spec
pretty sure the dc2 b18c2 one has the same gear size cos i used that to drop my LSD over.
The b16 is different that's for sure
i think limbo is refering to b18c2 not b18c 96 spec or 98 spec
So your saying i cant use OEM 4.7fd unless i use the lsd from it as well other parts?
thanks for that mate,
So i can use the 4.fd on a b18c2 GB non LSD without using the 98 spec lsd?
Confused now cos u edit ur post
Apologies - I posted some incorrect info regarding the LSD sizes and was correcting it.
Basically, an OEM 4.7 FD comes off a '98 spec type R. While you can fit the 4.7 ('98 B18C R) onto into any B18C or B16B, it is not straight forward because the '98 spec uses a slightly different fitment 1st gear. You need will need the '98 Type R spec 1st gear, countershaft etc (as Ben said).
It may be simpler to just purchase a Final Drive to suit your current diff.
and if you're going through all that trouble, you should put in the LSD as well.
Finally, the diff size of a B18C/B16B is different from a B16A, so the FDs are not interchangeable.
Hope that clarifies.
thanks mate
