Buying injen intake on dc5r. cant wait read up on some other posts using the search key but couldnt find my answer.
For peace of mind i want to buy the hydroshield but Does anyone know if it restricts the power and the noise.
Bc if it does i wont get it anyone here had both on at the same time pls let me know cheers;)

You can get one if you want, but if you're going to hydrolock the shield probably won't stop it since you'll be pretty deep anyway.
thanks but i want to know if its restrics power and if it quietens the noise when your in vtec using the injen intake.
I doubt it'd do anything so significant that you would feel it on the road. If there was any significant difference you would've found more people talking about it.
^ exactly. If there is any power loss it wont be noticeable. lets face it, the gain from the intake itself isnt that noticeable either. Its in your head thinking that its faster because u hear it go louder.
in terms of noise, prob not, but this is just my opinion, i could be wrong.
yeah well, apart from the 'placebo' effect you have mentioned, alot of people have mentioned increase throttle response and better up high
I think its just the loudness... Personaly driving with one... U hear the pod sucking air from 3-5.5 k rpm, at vtec, it roars! ... Well worth investment, i was also going to get a shield for it.... Its naked atm... In heavy rains i dont rev past 3k, cos im scared lol
Get a sheild - for only $50 its cheap peace of mind. When you get it you will see why it wont restrict power.
I dont know why people are so worried.. In the rain do you rev the car off its ****?
Are you running factory splash guards?.. Then there is nothing to be worried about hydrolocking. Ive even ran my car without splash guards with my filter exposed in heavy rain. Nothing has happend..
Worst that will happen is a wet pod and decreased performance.

I live in melbourne and i got a feelin it could get nasty this time of year so i thought that the hydro shield will at least keep the drops of water flicking up into the pod filter away.
jdm yard are waiting for a delivery 2 weeks away they say.
i want the injen intake to roar when in vtec but if having a hydroshiled is going to make it quieter than nah i dont want it.
Once again, youll see when you get it - no difference in performance or noise reduction. Trust me mate.

the slpash guard for the DC5 doesnt cover the pod... hack a look under up fornt bumper OP.. you'll see where hte pod sits.Quote:

dont worry about the hydroshield. as stated previously, just back right off the accelerator when going through deep puddles etc... Even with the hydroshield you can Hydrolock. Seen it happen before on an EK
I drove around without the hydroshield for 2 months.
Bought one for just peace of mind and there's no difference in sound or performance at all.
