hey guys just wanted to kno if CAI is illeagal in victoria for p platers... ?
Yeah it's illegal mate.
But i have an INJEN CAI.. no dramas so far (can also be defected)
LOL shittt yer i just installed the K&N typhoon bahaha my bros like its sick but its illeagal ....
yep it is but dont be a smartass an you should be fine unless if the cop is having a bad day plus nearly every p plater has em:p
bahaha dnt be a samrtass... hahah ye i kno but it sounds so sweet at 7000 revs :)
hehe yeah it does:p but just dont do it so often or the police will rape you lol, dont worry about having a cai they wont really care but if you have an exposed pod (SRI) they will be all over it
I thought it was legal and had CAI on both my cars, though I was never pulled over. I always found that VicRoads things re: mods to be a bit vague, but yeah put the pod in your bumper and you should be fine. Otherwise you'll just get defected, so you can take it off np.
lol i hgot a b kit on my euro and the vent on the front bumper where my filter is is like off... so u can kinda see it... reacon i shuld be worried?
just a point on exposed pods, in vic theyre only illegal if theyre oil based.
cai is legal for EFI vehicles, (according to EPA website) however Performance modifications for P platers are not
Threadjack: What's the point of making exposed pods illegal anyway? What danger does it pose to motorists?
dont think the law had anythin to do with exposed pods, more pods in general as they change the fuel mixture and air, causing more pollutants in the air and the EPA gets upset
i believe the exposed poddy just got mixed in as, if the cop cant see it less likely to get caught
however as i said before according to the EPA website, pod filters are allowed on EFI vehicle not carby however.
but if u have a modified intercooler u cannot have a pod filter
As mentioned above, its illegal for many things. Noise pollution and the fact that most pods are oil based, hence risk of getting it on fire. Get an airbox and it should be fine :)
In answer to OP, Yes CAI are illegal for P Platers as they are a performance modification. Which in the new current laws, Vic roads bans any performance modified vehicle from P Platers. That is without even getting into EPA crap.
On that note what popo dont know wont hurt him, or you lol
Are you serious any modification to the engine is illegal? s**t. how about engine conversions for p platers? I'm currently saving for a b20 LOL
sorry it's not related to your question OP.
yeh everything is banned no mods to the engine, umm im not sure bout engine conversions , but probably yeh,
what you CAN do is get your stock original box and cut it underneath to fit above the cai from the pipes as its going into your fenders that why police see it as a normal airbox.
Who said its illegal, ive been defected many times before they never pic on a pod filter, or a cai. your allowed to have ONE air intake mod.
^^you are not allowed but its a law they don't enforce;)
dont quote me on this...but i think you are allowed engine conversions as long as the engine was an option for that car, and all relevent factory items are fitted eg. intake...
so b20....no :p but if you still really want the b20 what you can do is keep saving...and then a month before you get off your p's, take the car off the road and get it done ready when you get off your p's
isnt any mod for a P plater not allowed?
im not too sure on factory equiptment...but if you were gonna put an engine that was an option...it would be cheaper to sell and buy one with the better engine already
all, ANYTHING that is other than OEM, what the car came from out of the factory, is a modification, it is not allowed, and you can be defected for it.
This has been covered many times, and this thread is going to shit...
