FINALLY THE ANSWER TO THE SHAKING EUROS (Well my one anyways =P)

I finally got off my ass and got my shakey 04 euro fixed ... yes im talking about the shake thats 80 - 120 kph =D

nah slight vibrationg due to left side needs changing too, But good thing is too it seems to have stopped the squealing noise that use to come out sometimes when i took off too which was beleived to be the clutch slipping but now look like its the driveshaft slipping =D

so yeh gonna get the left side done soon just had to order one in the guy didnt have that side =D

funny thing is he is using the 1996 Accord one =P was made stronger than our one... instead of using square stops on the bearings honda thought they could save money and get rid of the stops =\ thats what stops it from kind of slipping and wearing in... ill try get photos of what i mean =D

hey braxta is that when you running from 80 to 120 then breaking?

cause if it is great

if not also can help to change break pads and machine your disc

brake pads are new same as discs =D

it was only when you reach 80-120 and put load on (Accelerate and stuff in low gear)
so it has fixed the problem alot the shake is really small now just left hand side left =D

is this shaking noise the "buzzzz" sound from 2000 rpm - 3000rpm with moderate gas ?

nah it was liturally the whole car jiggling around lol it shook but the noise sounded like a fan belt slipping but it wasnt lol

i get this shake as well. 90-100km. and a little randomly in 3rd gear. cant explain it but if it fixes it. hella why not :)

Always had that annoying SQUEEL and always thought it was the clutch, but i gues its not!
Any chance there is a part number for the bearing you used from the older accord??
And when you say cheap, roughly what did you pay to get one side done?

man i got the exact same problem. The squeaking clutch (sometimes when taking off) and shaking when braking (happening more often now).

So its the driveshaft. is it dangerous if i keep driving like this? and how much did it set you back ($$)?

mine wasnt shaking when braking it was shaking when i hit 80 - 120 kph =D

Your clutch release bearing is worn, causing a screeching sound especially when taking off uphill.

The shaking when braking is caused by either deposits on your brake rotors or warped rotors.

I also have the screeching noise when taking off, it happens more often when reversing without fully releasing the clutch uphill.
It seems to happen only on a cold start or when its raining, by the time I get to the dealer my car is warmed up and it doesnt squeel on launch anymore. Any ideas?

people have asked me is this the same as when their car shakes when braking.. well it aint =P hehe

the braking one i got too but i think it comes down to the standard euro having shit brakes =P mine make a slight noise when ive held them too long and they get hot and wobble and yeh thats different ive changed pads to project Mu NS i think and some DBA Slotted and it still happens im putting that down to shitty brake lines =D

I had the same issue on my old 05 euro. The problem was a hot spot on the flywheel causing vibrations when engaging the clutch. It sounded the same as a thrust bearing.

My dealership have experienced the issue on other Honda's aswell, so there familliar with the issue. But, this is not covered under warranty as they found no fault with the clutch operation and put it down to driver error. Even though i know i don't ride the clutch. It is hard to prove as the hot spots are all around the fly wheel.

Is this the same issue causing the 'GRINDING noise coming from my gearbox??

Mostly audible on low revs, high gear and high load.

I too am now getting Vibrations under accelration from 80km/h upwards - Will book it into Honda to get the driveshaft housings checked out.

This is not a wheel balancing issue, def something mechanical.

Is this the only reason why the euro start to vibrate / shake??????????? Car is under extended warranty which is good. Worst thing is that you need to get it up too freeway speeds to feel it. Funny enough it gets worse after 10 minutes of driving..

ummmm im not sure what year model... he told me the accord before the euro.... so i dunno what model that was but i can ask him =D

I recently had my Mechanic to take mine apart and have a look at it and yep my RHS Housing has pit marks. Now i just gotta hunt around for a new one.

Braxta can you ask your guy exactly which housing off which car he got it from, so i'm able to get the same done to mine.

yeah im keen on this info too, also there are a lot of TSX driveshafts for $150-300. Tempted to just get a decent spec one of them and throw in another couple hundred to get it fitted.

EDIT: i called honda dealer and they said they wanted to replace whole D/s assembly which is $900-1200. im struggling to find anywhere that even wants to touch the car...

i went to honda mechanic and they found my right inner cv joint was stuffed. they replaced with a second hand one from wreckers for 275 and gave me 6 months warranty.

Just remember with the replacements there are jap ones then the shitty chinese ones... you know which you should get lol

Can i purchase this? im under the impression that the cv shaft is another name for driveshaft.

all i had changed was the big brown housing on the right of the 2 shafts.
u could get them but it would be a waste depending on what actual problem is. see mine was the housing but ive heard a few saying the actual shaft.

just get it checked and see what the CV joint guy sez

i have got it checked twice earlier in the year.
Carl from CRS automotive had said with my situation there is excess clearance in the slip joints. he deemed it to be a manufacturer fault which i could not do anything about as i bought the car 2nd hand and already clocked up 150xxx kms

When i purchased the car, for a peace of mind i litterally said to Astoria honda (my family's honda dealership): "anything you find, REPLACE IT i dont care what the costs get up to" i told them also i insisted on getting the transmission fluid changed although it was already changed at 120xxx kms. and they found out to be the 'driveshafts to be worn, replace drive shafts'. written on the service reciept

For brand new shafts - Honda dealership charging me 2k inc labour. they had SOO much trouble they said sourcing out non genuine ones >_> so they then could only offer me the genuine ones blah and their 2k.
I would be saving ALOT of money this way. either way. But these shafts are made from china parts so im a bit iffy on this ebay seller. although his stated that it meets these blah blah blah standards. Im going to look into this.

Thank you for confirming that these ''cv shafts'' are Driveshafts. Im guessing driveshafts are the 'slang' if that makes sense. I hope im correct.

well on my euro the guy that did it got me the Accord previous to the euro....and they are more stronger and reliable (Japanese ones) and ive been happy since...

im having this problem now as well. feels like the car is gonna fall apart. i havent heard of this happening to any other k series car (ep3 dc5). so im assuming that the housing from those cars would fit the euro. can any1 confirm this? or can sme1 find out the diameter from the euro splines to compare to other models so we can all work out an easy fix for the problem, seeing that its not just a odd few its happened to.

Just got this done for my euro today. Finally no more shaking!!
Snapped up a pair of secondhand 2000 accord (manual) drive shafts from the wreckers.
Mechanic played mix n match with the euro shafts.

Can now say honda dealerships are a joke! I managed to source our a pair of brand new cv shafts, with 1 year warranty as well. Where as they tried to find me a non-geniune pair of driveshafts, and failed so they could only allow to do the job using their oem shafts. No thanks!

was this happening low speeds too?
i have same vibration /shudder but its happening only at low speeds at 1900-2000rpm then disappears once over 40km

found another place that honda sends them to to get fixed

I have a 2003 Euro Lux and the shaking occurs at 40kph AND 60kph only with about 1,500rpm. It happens about 70% of the time.

Would this problem be because of the same issues highlighted in this thread?

So you would need the left and right hand side combo to fix the issue, or just the damaged side? The above will fit on a AUDM 2003 Accord Euro Lux?

And when it says "left" and "right" on their website, it is the same for us in Australia regardless of which side the steering wheel is on yeah?

hey man, well i contacted Marcus( had bought from him before) he told me try the left(our drivers) side first. if that doesnt fix it, try the other side. So thats what I did, swapped the driver side and its now fixed.

Not sure if u can get it cheaper anywhere, my model is 2003 standard manual. I want interested in saving money, just fixing it. DIY'd it myself too :)

I've noticed most people complaining about this problem have had manuals but I have an '05 auto and I don't think theres a specific speed it happens, it's more so when i'm trying to keep a constant speed... If i'm accelerating or slowing down it disappears, but i'll definitely be trying the aforementioned fixes to see if it helps... I've had my car for two years and it hasn't really got worse, i've just learned to avoid it but when my missus drives my car it's almost unbearable...

I somehow got the same problem 70% when in low speed. 40kmh 1500-2000rpm. Seems like i am in the same boat

I thought id just also contribute to some troubleshooting and after a years worth of trying to diagnose my issue.

On most cases, yes it is the driveshaft issue. as Braxta has said it is the wearing out of the housing at the joints. It is believed that the manufactuer design has lead to wear and tear to show symptoms of a worn driveshaft much more revealing that just 'clicks' like other driveshafts.
The best method to repair this is to 'mix and match' with parts from other compatible honda models but most people just either buy reconditioned, 2nd hand or even new parts genuine or aftermarket.

You know that you have a driveshaft problem almost certainly with the accord euros when u take up the car to speeds exceeding 80km/h and it the car shakes upon acceleration.

In my experience, my honda specialist assumed over the phone it was to do with the automatic transmission untill i told him over the phone it was a manual. dont get me wrong his got at least 200 accord euro's he has done in his books. He recomended before telling him the car was manual to change the automatic tranny fluid. So possibly start there if you dont want to get it properly diagnosed by a mechanic. I had my driveshafts replaced and the vigourous shaking after 80km/h disapeared but i still had some shake.

Secondly, its not as common, but certainly still occurs moderatley with accord euros is the VTC actuator failing. one of the symptoms of the vtc failing is at low speed esp aroudn the i-vtec 'points' your car will shake a bit as if the power is bogging. I find that most frequently this occurs after 2.5k and at 4k regardless of how fast your going or how heavy footed you are. that is when the VTC is shown to fail, the variable timing of your car issent working right. your check engine light may not always come on. Sometimes when it gets worse CEL will come on when it is cold, and ull find turning on and off ur car 2-3 times while driving when its warm gets rid of the CEL. If this is the case, get it fixed asap. but if your car runs smooth along the power untill uget to that high speed then u shouldnt have to really worry about it.

VTC actuator failing issent soemthing you can leave for a while. get it done asap. reason being is with a vtc actuator seizing. It cant adjust the degrees its supposed to work at, and as a result tightens up ur timing chain. If you leave it too long and drive ur car with it (like i did), most likley that has stretched the F@#$ out of the chain, but chain is still 'tight' with the failure. Once you replace the VTC actuator, the new one will return the timing chain to its original slackness, but as its stressed the guides will be worn and theres more chance of jumping a tooth or more. valves will hit pistons and then bam, engine is blown.


What ive said, is somewhat common with the euros, but not as common as the driveshafts. its just me saying 'it could be this too'. so yeah, also be wary of it because for me to replace:
-timing chain
-tensioner
-guides
-vtc actuator
$1670 the bills come to.

and my euro is now just sitting there in my garage untill tax return time.

sigh mine has starting doing this. Rarely go on the freeway so cant say when it started. Shakes alot on hard acceleration after 80km/h. Cruising is fine. Can notice it under hard acceleration even from 20km/h up, but faint. Only 107xxx kms on the clock, 04 manual.

hey guys. Now I have some aftermarket warranty (yea I know shouldnt have) when i bought the car few years back. took it to them, who then gave it to honda to solve. The result was that both drive shafts have to replaced.

However the warranty will only cover one side, so I will have to fork out 495$ (part + labour) for the other. At the moment im disputing this, as I find it unaccetable they can cover one and cite wear and tear excuse for the other.

However, what would you guys suggest if this remains the outcome. Should I fork out 495 or just get one side replaced and see how I go? If one side, is there anyway to determine with driving which one is the wosrt?

I get a very slight shake going 40km/h to 50km/h. This is with light throttle and the car is only going from 40-50 slowly.

My car is an 04 Euro Lux AUTO.

Is this the drive shaft issue?

Im replacing my CV Shafts tonight.

Apparently its a fluent problem with euros.
another solution/suggestion is you can purchase brand new CV Shafts from A&L Drive shafts for $140 each.

Turned out to be my driver's side driveshaft. Got it changed at my last service - $200. 2nd hand spare and 6months warranty.

Do I need to replace both the drivers and passenger side joints?
