JDM model had 147kw. Your probably thinking of the JDM DC5R (162kw).Quote:

There's probably more than that but thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
huh? I though 147kws was Dc5r.
147kw is the AUSDM DC5R...
the JDM DC2R has 149kw and AUSDM is 141kw...
JDM dc2rs are rated at 200hp whereas AUDM dc2rs are detuned a bit to 187hp. Most likely due to lower octane fuel and also the different header design. Oh and also the larger cat due to different emission requirements.
Apart from what Jim8oy mentioned, I can only remember JDM 98spec has HIDs standard.
JDM 96spec had smaller brakes and 4 stud (4x114.3) 15" wheels. Brake size AUDM is the same as 98spec.
Australia got absolutely 'r'ipped off with the dc5R.
Y would they detune our version so much?? Thats australia for ya!
cos its cheaper to produce a type S and badge it a type R...
ppl will buy it due to the name of the product
*edit
96 spec has no abs brakes ...
what i think is the downgrade of all is getting rid of the Jap DC2R front lights and putting round lights on. the round lights aren't that bad but honestly the JDM ITR front headlights are the best headlights i ever seen if not top 3 of any car on our streets
Just to clarify, the JDM DC2 has 147kw (both the 96 spec and 98 spec).
The power difference is not due to the header design because the 98spec had the SUS 4-1 but did not make any more power than the 96spec which has the cast-iron 4-2-1 piece (which is the same as AUDM). The header only brings out peak torque in an earlier RPM range. As far as I know it is the tuning of the ECU.
The different front end design is partly because of pedestrain crash/safety standards bull crap. Apparently the Acura front end hurts less for crash victims, also it has a significantly thicker front impact absorbing bar (whatever its called) compared to the JDM front end for more safety.
Dam. Thanks for that info I my self never knew that. I thought Japs just hated aussie and giving us a shit type R LOL.

This site should help :)
doesnt the JDM have the 4 spot calipers , and recaro seatbelts and stearing wheel.
recaro seatbelt? i've never heard of anything like this before... wot is it john?
well like ppl said, audm is rated at 141kw and jdm is 147kw. but remember that these ratings are based on the corresponding fuel, i.e. 147kw jdm on ron 100+ (or wotever it is in japan). so i would think a jdm dc2r here would not be all that much more power over the au dc2r. i think that goes for my 136kw ctr too... not as powerful as it sounds on our 98 ron fuel here in aus... correct me if i'm wrong, but that's my assumption...
anyways, jdm 96 dc2r had the 421 headers, 15" rims, obvious exterior differences. the updated 98 model got the HID lights, hot 16" rim and fatter disk brakes, adjusted final gear ratios, new rear bumper (look at the bottom of the updated dc2 tegs, they got that lil bar at the bottom), 4-1 headers and as sumone mentioned, the power rating was the same, just the torque was improved a bit at low and mid rpms. oh, and sum of the jdm models came wif power folding side mirrors, like my ctr... bling bling! :D
The fuel rating is a wrong assumption:P (but a common one!).
There is a member in clubrsx who has a JDM DC5R and suffers no power loss whatsoever due to fuel qualities, it's just what Honda AUS wants you to believe:P
....
......
Go the EK9!!!!
Its not the same car that produces different outputs due to the fuel....they change the tuning to run on the different fuels.
Remember though that Australian Premium standard is still 95 or 96 RON. That is what they detune or 'remap' the engines for (probably slowly changing now with better availability of 98RON).
How can you be sure the JDM DC5R suffers no power loss whatsoever? dyno testing? I know they run fine, but the knock sensors do take care of that. And 98 RON probably isn't much different to 100RON.
However they probably do need to detune for reliable running on our 95 RON.
do none of the mods know what is going on?
I remember seeing a stock JDM 4dr ItR had different seat belts. was a long time ago though, cant really remember.
ok, i'm still not sure if my assumption is totally off here... but i understand that the au itr woulda been detuned to run on our fuel... but wouldn't a car (itr or wotever) that's built for jdmarket, tuned for their fuel, run less powerful on our crappier fuel?
sorry for still goin off topic, but it's still a healthy discussion about the diffs b/w the au and jdm itrs :D
yes they do, i'm one and so is ECU-MAN ...the guys wif their nicks in green :DQuote:

yes ecu-man is and so is spermz
and they seem to have got it a bit pear shaped, confusing dc5's with dc2's...
but i guess the only way they learn is by making mistakes... like i did...
so for the record, jdm dc2 itr has single pot brakes and no recaro seat belts...
here are the 98+ ITR Honda factory equip. lists:
