do you want power or looks?
the dc2 vtir has more power of course. its up to you to decide how you want your car to look/perform like.
IMO em1 looks hotter out of all of them. but then you cant go wrong with a facelifted dc2 vtir [=
i kinda want both power and looks doesn't have to be full on powerful but at least something i can play around with but gotta look nice :)
I think the EM1 looks the best, they are a bit less sparse I believe too.
facelifted dc2 vtir with some nice offset wheels and lowered!
i might be selling up soon b20 120kw atw face lifted dc2 :)

how much?
pm me an offer
y u selling for its such a nice car
personally i would just change the wheels
need to move on, getting my full licence soon, so might buy a nissan or something
lol alot of ppl seem to do that honda then nissan
im planning on doing the same im looking at a 180sx type x as my nxt car
EM1 hottest.
find a b18 EM1 :) or a K20 EM1
k20 ek4 :)
Good lord no. Just buy any of your original options, none of this K-swapped crap etc. You may as well buy a better car then.
IMO get the cleanest car with the lowest Ks and service records.
Depends what's on the market really. I spent 6 months looking for a clean facelifted DC2, but I ended up getting an em1 because it popped up and was very in very good condition.
what you guys reckon of this http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=12957102214D
damn that looks pretty cheap considering the Ks and the Mods it has. When i was looking for one there was one that was going for 10k also but had 160xxx plain stock.
lol i hope rents lend em money to throw on top of the 5300 i got to buy that ahahah
Just to update my last post... Ive driven a few DC2s and I own an em1. DC2 has more grunt, when u are accelerating up a hill, the em1 does show lack of torque. The DC2 is better driver's car and makes it 0-100km a full second quicker (it's noticeable).
However, the EM1 looks a lot more modern. Some of my friends that don't know much about cars can't believe my EM1 is a 10 year old car. The DC2 looks great from the outside, but that jet black interior ('93 designed) looks a lot more dated than the EM1.
If you are after style, I think everyone will agree with me that the EM1 wins hands down. If you are after power, and don't mind an early 90s looking car, then get a DC2.
Thats my 0.2c
ohh dc's got some style , but im looking for something mid range thats got abit of both.
EM1 with b18
or just find a EJ8 that looks like a EM1 and have a b18 .
to OP, if u want to modify your car later down the track i would suggest a the dc2. finding parts for a dc2 is much easier then finding parts for ek (dont quote me, personal experiences)
so if ur going to mod your car down the track go the dc2, if not go the em1.
well lets hope tonight goes well(borrowing money off parents) LOLS i really want the dc2 man :)
DC2 is probably more trackable but to me EM1 is sexiest by far...
for more storage get one of the hatchbacks is my suggestion alot more practicle
I prefer DC2 but I'm biased...
Can't deny EM1's look smexy dumped but I'd rather have the power and handling, plus JDM front looks hawt as well.
For the VTi-R crossover, its a 2 stage vtec so opens up at about 4400 and then a bigger kick at around 6k, but you can always change that so the cross over is much louder and a single stage with a skunk2 intake manifold, larger throttle body and a decent CAI.. I've done that and my cross over is pretty loud lol, much louder than any b16 I've heard anyway lol
vti-r are slow as shit... esp integs...
if you want mid range then integ.. if you want top end em1
EM1 looks way nicer and is rare...not that difficult either to get that little bit of extra power that the dc2 vtir has..
Honestly. Don't get either of them. EM1, DC2 vtir. Just save up what 2-3k more and get yourself a dc2r. they going for peanuts now, i just sold mine for 13k It was bit higher Kms but drove fine nonetheless.
dc2r is the fastest P-plate friendly car you can get. Maybe the best looking too. xD
I wouldn't say 2-3k, I just picked up a mint dc2 vtir for under 7k, type r's are averaging 13-15k nowadays, much much cheaper than last years 22k, but wouldn't say 2-3k, but yeah its heaps cheaper than last year lols
i got my dc2 vtir for 6800 but this is with paint issues some parts are fading not to bad , but it comes with cusco zero 2 coilovers , ultra racing 3point strut bar and ultra racing rear strut bar , injen cai , type r radiator , new bendix brakes fresh service soo all is well i reckon :) he did all the mods i would of done to it so nwo just save for a paint job , also every receipt on service since 2000+ kms and receipts on any purchases made for this car
Maybe you can get a DC2R for $13K, but you'd have to bargain hard. A lot of people here in Brisbane are still demanding hefty prices (and have failed to sell, but they remain delusional). Depends how many are on the market really. For $13K, you'd be getting an example with higher Ks.
Biggest killer with a DC2R is the insurance. I've looked into it. They quoted me more than twice what I'm paying for my EM1.
Including insurance, you are looking at 15K +, much more than the buyer's budget.
Well if you look into it that way. You'd probably need to fix the dc2r when you get it. Common problems gearbox, clutch, dizzy. So you've gotta fork out moneys.
Depends on what insurance you get. I just had 3rd party was like 400$ but full comp was 3k?
If you are on Ps still you'd be expecting to pay around 2k for full comp and that goes for any of the cars above pretty much.
when i was considering purchasing a dc2r insurance was one of the biggest killers..(2.5k I think it was) I also quickly discovered that with the nature of the dc2r most of them had been molested/modified and not maintained yet the majority of owners seemed to think they could demand top dollar for trashed cars..dreamers. They are getting up in the kms now and most of them have been through a few owners. Dont get me wrong theres clean well maintained examples out there, its just a mission to find them...
Anyways I ended up with an EM1 and havent regretted it since :)
Well said.
Don't agree with you chauster. Getting just 3rd party is madness. DC2r is a theif magnet. Just imagine how much theives can get when they strip and part out a car llike that.
Also, DC2 and EM1 insurance is, like I said before, less than half of that of a DC2r.
