Just wanted to know if anyone knows of anyone who's done a RWD conversion to a Type-R?
I know they are the best handling FWD cars going around, but it has always got me wondering what a RWD Type-R would handle like.
What's the cost involved...

just...dont...even...start thinking about it.
Tegs are FWD- entirely made to be FWD ( with the exception of a AWD variant in japan) - IM SURE yuo COUDL put in a big 9 inch diff in the rear , and link a drive shaft thru via a coupling system etc- but why ?
ANYTHING can be accomplished as long as u have plenty of money !
Anything is possible. However, apart from the fact that you would own a RWD DC2 ITR, it'd more than likely be terrible. Its the same when people ask about AWD CRX's - Why? They're fun because they're light, weighing them down is just a pain in the ass.
Why the hell would you do that? Other than ruining the weight distribution etc thatt makes an ITR an awesome handler.
Stupid question really.
Isnt a RWD Type R integra badged as a S2000 ? :D
but anyway, i have seen a CRX with a C30A in the rear to make it a MR setup. Yes only in America and only at the NOPI Nats ;)
Setanta - relax puto, it was just a question.
I was relaxed - you should see me when I'm uptight :P
some of us have :twisted:Quote:

YOu'd need a custom diff made up as the ITR has a transversally mounted engine. Not mention a slight loss in power through the tailshafts and new diff. North worth it IMHO. The ITR handles so well in its FWD configuration that little is to be gained by converting it to RWD.
As for the 200SX, similar story there (IE the engines mounted position).
It would be a waste of both time and money.
I was joking =pQuote:

J/k
Guys, he was just asking a hypothetical question. The basis of it were not based on intention to convert one, but merely a thought from an experienced ITR driver to see how it would compare to stock FF.
Haaaahahahhaa we're all just messin with ya
its too hard to imagine exactly what it would handle like because it would screw up all the weight distribution and turn it into a whole different car.
Due to the short wheelbase however, it would be fun to drive rwd.. shud be able to flick the back out pretty easily :D
i think its been said before but to convert the motor to a rwd, it would be easier to place the engine into an MR designation, not to mention cheaper. I tend to disagree about all the people saying h ow its not worth it etc. I think it would be good, especially if it were to see boost :)
next on the list .... a factory AWD ITR
cant wait
Best I've seen is a 1 gen CRX with stock motor in the front and a supercharged v8 driving the rear wheels :P
now that goto be one hot interior  :)Quote:

No formal time tests have been made yet, but owner estimates 0-60 in about 2-2.5 seconds, 1/4 mile at 9.25 and 160 mph on about 1000 HP. It handles perfectly straight up to 130 mph - top speed so far. This car does NOT sit in the garage and look pretty. It drives around town and looks "surprisingly normal." That is, until the rear engine is fired up...
nice :)
Any more information on the CRX?
CRAZY!
nuts......
Ive seen the same thing but with a Chevvy 454 big block in the front engine bay
I've seen that one too CTR - but I don't think it was road registered and driven.
just a dumb reply, But I know there used to be a RWD CRX in Sydney. It was black, very sleeper, which apparently had old Subaru 4WD mechanicals, but disconnected the front drive shafts.... Last I heard it died in QLD after taking out a cow...
In feb 2004 edition of Honda Tuning Mag, they're up to part 3 in an AWD integra with a type r motor.

yeah there is a guy called blake that hands around the honda-tech forums with a project AWD itr
dunno if its the same one as aformentioned
theres an AWD integra..

:) hey guys. thats a great idea. i thought of doin that myself. its a loooong and pain staling process but if you've got the money anything is possible! as to weight distribution the integra is a great car 2 convert, it would proportion the car a lot betta, makin it more stable on the road. soon i'll have a customer who wants 2 put an SR20 DET rear wheel drive in a holden barena. once again if you've got the money & your mechanic is knoweledgable enough & willing 2 do the job its a good idea :P :P
razztech, can SR20DETT in a eg civic hatch? i heard u can w/ abit of modifications? or is it possible 2do?
If you can run a US street registered rear engine RWD V8 supercharged '84 Civic then anything is possible - with enough money.
The SR20 DETT is a long engine compared to the B series.
You're looking at serious cutting and welding.
hhhmmm damn...dat sux :|Quote:

like i said its a long and pricy task but anything is posible :D :D
by the way the names adrian razzi.... ;) ;)
dorifto integra , i'd like 2 see that!
hm...the awd civic wasnt there 1?
running the crx drivetrain ? or was it the HRV
anywayz
and it had turbo and was specially for draggggggsssssss
Theres an AWD CRX running CRV drive train.
in Japan land they have an EP 4WD civic.
If you want a AWD Integra DC2, you will need a early model CRV, you will have to modify the driveline abit and get the gearbox to fit.
If you have the engine which is the B series take the block, crank, conrods and pistons and fit the integras b series head on it.
this is like a stoker kit but the bore diamater and compression ratio will increase.
Honda HRV works too, but weak as shizzle
