hey i just bought a integra type r 2000 model and the vtec isnt that loud wjhen it comes in, can barely tell, does anyone know how to make it louder? or how to check if its working properly and what i can do to fix it?

Pod filter and exhaust.

Leave the stock box, and just replace the air filter element, having a exposed pod is usually a no no... unless its a CAI system
If you still got the stock air box filer, just open the lid and leave it open
full exhaust?
What brand intake you using?
open the zorst system up

get a straight thru exhaust system lol
just a cai will make it noticably louder.. ;p
but if you really want it loud... get the CAI and a straight through.... ;p
Even better, have no zorst system, and just a down pipe from the headers :D, super loud, an no one will notice it LOL
i dunno what exhaust its got coz it already had it before i bought it but its got full exhaust system with a mugen CAI with headers and everything.
and vtec still isnt loud...... wow that a mind boggler....
post up some pictures of yout engina and the exhaust you have on it..
and we may be able to help a bit better
your vtec has broken
its not going to get louder if you have the modifications you've listed.. the only way to get louder is with quad throttle bodies, but you wouldnt go into spending that much money just for the sound...
and a warning... the next stupid response will get an infraction
SRI + Headers + High Flow Cat + Straight Through Catback + VTEC Controller and set to 5000RPM will make it louder

i dont think thats a CAI? might be wrong though.
when people say high flow cat how many cells does it need to be to be high flow?
Go 100cel, 200cel if you're really worried about EPA.
@OP: Maybe an upgraded throttle body + intake manifold? Bolt-on items. Something like Skunk2 would set you back $700-800, or you would look into Edelbrock or Blox. Would probably give you a little power gain too. Not sure it'll make it louder though TBH.

Change your intake. Just get a SRI with no box. though its defectiv, but what isnt?
Buy a B16A and fit in the DC2R if you want loud crossovers,
B18C's don't have loud crossovers, its more smooth. With quality I/H/E you won't get louder crossover, you will have a smoother one but vtec will definetly be louder.
The smoother the crossover it is - the better :)

I had injen CAI and pretty much a straight through exhaust and headers and damn it was loud after that.
I dont think that the vtec isnt loud, it could possibly be that you are expecting some really loud vtec crossover. The B series have a better cross over than the k series in my opinion and with your mods, your vtec should be pretty loud.

Damn even with my mods I din have that much sound must have a fair bit of work done to it.
put a hole or a few in your exhaust might even sound like a straight pipe.
glue a whistle to your pod = turbo
srsly put a few holes.
