Best EG model for b16a conversion?

hey guys i know you must be sick of b16a questions but ive searched and searched the forum and web and was wondering if u could give me a little advice, anything would be much appreciated...

i currently own a 95 civic gli auto. its currently for sale and the reason is because im going to purchase another EG that has a manual transmition and i plan on putting a b16a in it, i was after some assistance of what model EG's are best for this? im lead to believe that 93 models are difficult to do this conversion on, i was hoping to get a 93 due to the fact that it would be cheaper than a 94/95 and i would have some spare money for hopefully a 1/2 cut. ive been considering a 94 vti because i like the sunroof.

What do you recommend???

Well if you're after more performance, the Breeze base model is the best to get.

ITs the lightest of the lot, but would require a EFI conversion as well.

Only prob is that it doesnt have power options.

Next best choice would be a Si civic or Gli, since they both got power options and have a nice chasis to use too.

The Vti has a sunroof which would weaken the roof area and is a heavier car compared to the Si.

So a 93 Si would be a good car to do a b16a conversion on?? but i would need an EFI conversion right? Anyone have any idea on an approx cost of an EFI conversion?

i thnk what chi was saying was that the breeze needed the EFI conversion..not the si

if u get a vti.. may aswell keep it that way..

doing a b16a conversion wont have that much gain if you have a vti... same with si...

I personally recomend the the SI model.
Not only does it still have all the power options, but it is already EFI, and already has 4 wheel disc brakes. Saves alot of trouble in doin the rear disc conversion.

There is still a huge gain from a SOHC and a non vtec DOHC ... to a DOHC VTEC...
SIs may be an expensive base for alot of people to start a conversion, so id reccomend a Gli (NOT Gl). This is the fuel injected model as well, will save alot of hassel doin the EFI conversoin, plus you get all the power features.
Breeze I would only recommend to those goin full track prep car .. or those on a very small budget ..
Im driving my breeze16a and its doin the job fine. EGs are very compatible, aircon/power windows/mirrors/central locking etc can all be installed thro wrecked parts or even aftermarket parts. Remember that =]

i would like to do other mods aswell to add more power, the B16A is obviously more powerful than the si or vti engine, by nearly 20kw i think and would be better to work with wouldnt it?

im not crazy wanting to put a b16a into a si or vti am i?

95 GLi is a great start. Swapping transmition is not as difficult task as you beleive. Because you are using all the running gear from a manual b16a it is just replaced for your D-series auto gear. You should be able to get everything needed from your 1/2 cut. Even if you had a manual Gli, the whole running gear/etc would need to be taken out and replaced anyway, it is not much extra work at all.
My friend did it himself on his good friends EK, he did the whole conversion in less than a week (Auto EK1 to Man EK4) and he isn't a mechanic.

Thanks heaps SiR JDM, i tryed uploading an image of my current ride but it didnt work for some reason.. i might think about your advice on keeping mine, so what would i need if i were to keep my car, say i got a 1/2 cut would i need a new gearbox or anything?... im loving ozhonda already, only place ive found all the info i need and with friendly feedback

I believe the i in Vti, Si, GLi means fuel injected

i was thinking of selling my TEG and buying a GLi and slappuing a B18 engine in! Cxi is povety pack desgined to be under the $20000 mark when first came out so it has no electir windows no rear disc brakes! but lighter! i would blother with the breeeze too much stuffing around! the futekl lines are heaps different! ahhh then the fuel pump needs some sdhustments too i think! ahh drum brakes too! i think for me to put in muyself i work out to be about $4000 of expenditure to put into the breeze

but for the Gli isn't too hard!

i managed to upload images of my car.. who thinks i should keep it and do a b16a engine swap along with a manual transmition swap?? or who thinks i should sell it, buy another eg that has a manual transmition and put the b16a in that? what would you do if this was your car?? thanks to everyone for all the help... :)

I think it will be more hassel selling your car and buying a new one, manual, that is EFI, than doin the simple tranny swap. My opinion only.

the tranny swap involves re-welding a GB mount point i think...

not too huge a concern when doing a whole engine swap... not really DIY stuff though...

im not going to do any of the work on swapping the engine or transmition myself, i know a mechanic well who will help..
i think im going to keep my car and look into a tranny swap aswell as an engine swap.
