Are you looking for any brand? if not, just go to local exhaust shop, they will find one for you.
nh just custom but want a good idear on what piping size?
do you want full system? or a tip?
for full system check out the link below...
http://www.canningtonperformance.com.au/exhausts.asp
edit. im not trying to make u buy from them but they have a little chart to help u understand whats best. i could tell u but its better if u read it
i currently run an xforce system, it's alright, gives a nice tune and adds abit of omph to the car
I am not sure how much for xforce, but if possible, try HKS exhaust. It isn't that loud and have a real good low voice.
By the way the HKS one doesnt need any modification, just un-screw, put the exhuast and screw it, DONE :) Perfectly Fit
The most popular branded one I've heard of is the Kakimoto followed by the HKS. Both are direct bolt on. GD's seem to have more choices of exhaust than GE's. sighhh
I'm thinking of getting hks racing suction reloaded intake and hi power hks exhaust. Anyone have these or any opinions?? Best place to order/buy them??
Stick with Mugen power exhaust you cant go wrong.
anyone know if unbolting the axle back is illegal? i mean, the mufflers there to muffle the sound. and we all know that less sound = less girls. so i took it off and BAMBBQSAUCE, a much louder sound. i mean nothing over the top. its just right in my opinion. the girls love it too!...
but yeah, is that illegal?
uhmm no....
i think its legally required to have a muffler there just put a few holes in it.
going to haks performance tomorrow to get a quote on catback exhaust for the gd3.
will let you guys know.
but what about taking off the axle back and get a straight pipe all the way through?
yeh sure if u ever get pulled over just say that its technically the same as a performance exhaust, as it just lets it straight out, ie fully opened exhaust.
aslong as the DB isnt overboard, and it doesn't release more CO2 or w.e
edit: there is a chance that a straight pipe will be louder then no pipe tho because the muffler is there to absorb vibration so if there is no axle back it wont vibrate but if there is a straight pipe it might rattle like crazy
straight pipe would be incredibly loud, and it is also illegal, you will get fined alot of money.
i have standard piping but i did a straight pipe from axle back :) it sounds really good and pretty loud. i did 3inch axle back, so basically no muffler
cool so far as i can see the exhaust must leave the car so if u take off the axle back that illegal cos the exhaust is coming out from under the car but not away from it and it can heat stuff up and increase chance of fires, the exhaust must not extend anymore the 50mm away from the back of the car, if the exhaust doesn't poke out the back and comes out under the mudguard or something it requires a engineering certificate to say its safe (unless it was like that stock obviously).
so yes a axle back is required!
doesnt say anything abt muffling, so as long as its below the 96DB or w.e it is, and NO HOLES in the exhaust.
ive got a xForce axle back now, just need to install.
got it of fillit looks very nice :)
and ill post my jazz pics when im finished with the lip spoiler bonnet etc :D
Where can I find a duckwing for the GD jazz?
So I was revving the car today without the axle back and it doesn't smell to good. Is this normal? What's going on? Does the muffler also act as a cleanser or something?
might be bruning / melting plastic underbody.
also ther might be pushing out more soot because the exhaust aint there..
and godamit its illegal...
spoon make a duckbill spoiler buy it off JDM Concept
or u can try find one second hand on here, ive seen a few on Aus Jazz
haha sorry man, but it had to be done. is there a way i could like... make it legal? i mean a straight pipe with a flange or something still wont work? or like mentioned before just stick some metal over the pipe to look like a muffler. anything?
the jazz is finally sounding half decent
do a straight pipe, but not too loud. of get the original and try cutting the tip of and making the hole like 3 inch and welding a piece of pipe there to replace the tip... that would still be legal.
even better get like a auto technica one for Super cheap and make a piece of pipe that expands to fit that and attach that instead :D
Just get a lukey sports muffler on it, or even any muffler. Supercat make decent mufflers, all different types too.
thats true, but some of the ones u buy just laying around will need to be attached properly so professional exhaust shop might be required and they can charge u alot
i went to one here in perth, he wanted to charge my $500 to attach an xforce muffler seemed kinda preposterous so i managed to find an axle back.
and theres some cool axle backs by megan racing on ebay too, but the are abt 400+ due to shipping form the US

its oFF! just 8.5kgs of dead weight.
^ how does it sound?
^ like someone took the muffler off
Theres some cool axle backs by megan racing on ebay too, but the are abt 400+ due to shipping form the US
sdx91! zomgwtftomatosauce. it is an absolute beauty; almost sounds turbo if you ask me. take 10 minutes of your time. get a 13mm socket wrench(if i remember correctly) and undo the two bolts. take it around the block. i can assure you, you will be amazed at the difference. its a pretty LOL mod, and you will get some 'WTFTHATSAJAZZBRO' looks going down burwood road/ george street but even if you dont like it, its not that hard to get off and on. do it for me!
plus its just dead weight. you dont need the back seats or passenger side seat either... and the trimmings and linings. centre console and the spare tyre for that matter. but broo, strip the carpet and take off sound deadening (i reckon 70kg, mind you) and well, you need the dash to attract the girls, but im sure they would like the new mattress and roll cage you got installed instead. plus with all this dead weight gone, you can chuck in some subs to blow her clothes off. you seen italian job? DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF DOOOOOOOOOOOOF.
but yeah you know, just my 2 cents ;)
LOL alright ill try it soon. but does it burn the metal around it? and do u have it off all the time?
YO sdx91! there doesnt seem like any metal is burning. i have it off all the time now, just makes the jazz that much more fun. but im planning to get a straight pipe all the way through just so the exhaust is following through.
theres heatshield there, depends i just changed my muffler to a very modest rumbling muffler but i forgot the dynamics of the under car. I think the b pipe ends just before the heatshield so some wil be protected but if anything it might melt some plastic under the car. just dont leave it in one spot running for long. ahaha.

hmm alright thanks. is that an axleback exhaust gu357? what brand and how much?
yeh its an xforce axle back. the pipe is extra thick going into the muffler but it still fits a stock flange and bpipe, all of the xforce stuff is designed to fit the stock flange and be inter-changable. i bought it off fillit, i dunno if they still make them, i doubt it. but essentially its just a smaller muffler: half the width and two thirds the length. ill make a recording soon.
FYI Mugen racing axle back is heavier then stock muffler, I was certainly surprised when I installed mine..
lol wow thats unexpected. gu does ur xforce muffler have a silencer?
nope, its a semi open pipe.
so it still does some muffling but echos the sound out to a modest rumble, if i can find the video recorder on my phone ill upload it to youtube , but i dont think my phone has one.
have u guys looked into varex mufflers?
u can control there flow with a remote :)
link here
http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/...ms/catback.png
that's mine except i only have the muffler and not the B pipe.
as it is they dont seem to make ones for the GD3, or at least they aren't on their computer data base.
but if u check the website or call em up and tell em where your from they can tell u where your nearest distributor is, and the distributor can make one up for you.
but i would imagine its around 500$ i went to a place before (not a distributer thoguh) and they wanted 500$ to put a muffler on and all they were going to do was cut of the orginial muffler and attach the cannon with some pipe that expanded on one side.
so i just bought this r-sr axleback gt2? exhaust for my gd3 yesterday and it should be coming in about 2-3 weeks.
what do you guys think?

also i tried taking off the stock exhaust but the bolts seem to be on real tight.. what socket wrench do i need to use?
14MM! i think... but yeah they are tight cos they're spring loaded. youll be fine.
alright will try. thanks for the quick response :)
14mm with alot of WD40
How much did you pay for the exhaust ??
authentic been used for 5000km. bought it off a guy on ebay for 250. 150+100 shipping.
Looks like a nice cannon tbh, but could of got a new one from the US for about that much.
i used a rattle gun to take my exhaust off it was pretty rust and it is HELL TIGHT i had on 03 model though so its been seized a bit longer
yeah... just take off the axleback and get a straight pipe with a nice flange to connect to the rest of the exhaust.
OOOOOOOOOOHHH YEAHHHHH!
itll gost you like 70 dolllarssss
ehhh, the jazz has an ecu and can control it's fuel injection so back pressure isn't required, if anything it's better because it lets the car expel the exhaust gas faster and helps the engine rev freely
the whole thing about back pressure and torque would be more relevant to a car with carbies. Although too large of a exhaust can cause cackling and misfire... but u shouldn't have a problem.
partially installed my exhaust. i couldnt screw the bolts back on with the springs cos they are hard to push in.. so i just took those springs out for now and tightly screwed the bolts on however there is still a small gap :( is there an easier way for the bolt springs?

WOW! I'm kinda Jelly D:
very sexy! hows the sound?
im affraid it will sound too loud and cackly to go for such a large sized one with such little muffling.
In regards to the bolts u just have to really squeeze em I'm afraid, or if u have a blow torch heat em up a bit and squish em a tad, will weaken them.
I used a rattle gun and just pushed it, however my car was jacked up and the rear wheels off the ground so it was a bit roomier.
How's the sound of the exhaust ???You should record a video and share with us !!!
haha thanks gu357. here is a video clip guys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjKXo8zcCig
damn that sound good
NP mate.
its very sexy sounding ill throw a vid of mine soon as a comparison.
as soon as i get it off them axle stands ahaha.
haha thanks guys. also i still havnt put the spring on bolts yet.. im worried something will happen? and also maybe the sound is getting messed up cos it not spring loaded?
possibly, but it would most likely be a vibrating sound because the springs arent there.
it might be leaking and that could also cause a noise if the bolts arent tight enough to bring the axle back and B pipe together, but that would sound quite loud and highish pitched i think.
ill put a video of mine up soon.
bashed out cat, 2.5in catback with 2 resonators and the axle back i did twin 3inch pipes on a angle :)
Lol thats kool till u get a yellow sticker and the cops tell you that ur engine will will need a 5k re-tune to make it run leaner.
this happened to my mates RX8 and then hes engine blew leaving the mechanics because it was running lean it overheated ahaha.
ive been pulled over already haha nothing happen. i guess its only a jazz
Really?
what did they say?.... what did u say?
The cars under my mums name. So they were like, mum has a pretty nice looking car. Has a sports exhaust hey? And I'm like yeah it's not too bad. And they were like, so why u driving mum cars. And I said I can't afford one hahaha and then just a breath test
LOLOL, im changing my car to my mums name now xD
lol lucky my jazz in parents name :D
yeh im gonna buy another and put it under my parents name too LOLOL.
thinking about getting the manual, the thunder of the 7speed F1 thing is kinda worn off LOL
